editorial. We regret to announce that the plan set forward in our last number has failed. We asked all our readers to criticize The Vigornian, and we hoped to make some drastic alterations on the basis of those criticisms. But we have met with little support. Only a fraction of those who read The Vigornian has responded, and even the letters of these few have cancelled out each other. At any rate, we wish to thank those who have written for their letters, and would assure them that their advice, if not followed, has been carefully considered. One of our correspondents is disappointed at its lack of seriousness. Another pines for the latest School jokes and crossword puzzles. One of our critics takes exception to the Oxford and Cambridge letters; another calls them " quite refreshing." Quot homines, tot sententice. One thing that struck us is that The Vigornian does not cater sufficiently for old Vigornians. We are conscious of this defect, and only wish that we could have more contributions for the O.V. Column. We cannot make bricks without straw. There seems also to be a desire for articles by O.V. and by people connected with the School. On this point we are rather reluctant to adopt our correspondents' proposals. We feel that instead of invigorating The Vigornian it wttl cause it to rely more and more on " outsiders," and consequently grow less of a School magazine.
