tirade with which we are accustomed to commence our columns, devoting ourselves to the new room instead. Accordingly,, instead of discussing the weather or some kindred topic, we give a short description of the new Library. The accompanying plate will give some idea of the appearance of the room ; but it is necessary to see the room itself to appreciate its beauty ; indeed the change that has been wrought in the building during the past holidays has been such as to exceed our best expectations. We have now a room of excellent proportions, with a beautiful system of colouring, and with furniture in perfect harmony with the whole. The table in the alcove, we would mention, Was constructed by P. G. Kibler, the school craftsman, in the carpenter's shop. The larger of the two oak chairs, which can be seen in the plate, is made from the oak of Old St. Martin's Church. At present we possess few pictures ; Canon Wilson's photograph is appropriately placed in the alcove, while over the handsome mantelpiece
