The number of Higher Certificates was equal to that of former years; the number of Lower Certificates was double that of last year. * * * At cricket not a single match was lost; indeed, out of 11 played, 7 were won. For the first time in history, Dean Close School was defeated both at home and away; Hereford and Stratford also fell victims, the latter by an innings and 182 runs. In this match the splendid efforts of Dickson and Williams, our demon bowlers, disposed of our visitors for 4 runs. Further particulars of this highly satisfactory season will be found elsewhere. * * * At the close of last term, a presentation was made to the Rev. C. T. Powell, on the occasion of his approaching marriage. The present took the form of an oaken salad-bowl with two silver plates, bearing suitable inscriptions. Mr. Powell received it at an enthusiastic meeting of the whole school, and hoped that his friendly relations with us would long continue. His hopes
