aminations (see page 88) we secured six Higher and eight Lower Certificates, a result considerably above the average. And yet it is not only in the higher forms there has been advance but throughout the whole school. * * * Turning to games, we know how at football last season we achieved an unprecedented victory over Dean Close and how, on the Wye, we inflicted a defeat on the Hereford IV., and, last of all, we have had a successful cricket season. Our successes too, we gained although severely handicapped by the inroads of the scarlatina which carried off our Captain, N. M. Fergusson.
During the earlier part of the season our record was splendid and the first reverse was not sustained until July 4th at the hands of the Old Vigornians. We will not dwell on this and the later defeat by Dean Close, both of which, marring the success of the season, show that the Team lacked nerve and confidence.
