€bitorial. JJNCE more we find ourselves confronted with the task of writing an Editorial worthy of our Magazine, a task of which few, if any, of the outside world realise the extent. But let anyone sit down and quietly attempt to write something fresh time after time about the hum-drum course of an ordinary term and he will see something of what the much-abused Editor has to undergo, and it is

certainly providential that his term of office is, in the case of School Magazines, generally short; else few would survive the ordeal. But the die is cast, and, having taken the plunge, the task seems less appalling, though still we shall always look forward to the time when we can say of all these things— " Praetereo, atque alHs post me memoranda relinquo." We have again the unpleasant task of recording a poor football season, and it seems to be a great pity that, if we cannot do better against our present opponents, we are not able to arrange some additional matches with some clubs with whom we might stand a better chance. However, we realise that there are great obstacles to this, and, in spite of a poor result, there is no doubt that the team has improved all round since last year, and towards the end of the term the forwards showed a marked advance in the art of combination, but, unfortunately, the defence decidedly deteriorated, and thus counterbalanced the advantage. The half-back line has always been weak, but several of the latest inclusions show considerable promise, and, taking the team as a whole, there is great reason to hope that the time is not far distant when we shall be able to look back on a term with a balance of matches on our side.
