(gbitoral. |ROM an Editor's point of view the period of School history since The Vigornian last appeared has been distinctly uninteresting, but we are not sure that these quiet times are not the best for us. At any rate we may express our thankfulness that we escaped, to a great extent, the tremendous epidemic of influenza, which played such havoc with some of our neighbours. Frost, of course,

did a lot of harm to our rowing, but the weather of this term made amends and gave us real cricket weather. It was rather bad luck that the few rainy days should have chosen to come when we had cricket matches fixed. Perhaps the chief features of recent months has been the disappearance of so many old faces and the arrival of so many new ones. It seems that we are to have a '-'record" year in the way of numbers, as the entries for the first two terms already equal the highest total of all three terms in any year since the new scheme came into force. We trust that all this fresh blood means in the far future scholarships and "blues." Luckily there has been no change in the staff of Masters, and we still get the great help of Mr. Rammell and Mr. Beach-Hicks in the cricket and football field. We have spoke of cricket elsewhere, but we cannot refrain here from congratulating the XL on the greatly improved form which they have shewn in batting and fielding. Our bowling has been good for some years, but there was a limpness in batting and a slackness in fielding, which make the vigour and briskness shewn this year all the more refreshing. If the School has not won more matches than usual it has at least deserved to do so.
