The internal life of the School has been but very little disturbed during the past term. The new members of the VI. Form are beginning to show themselves equal to the responsibility put upon them, working harmoniously with the rest of the School. Speech day, which is reported elsewhere, was a great success, and the Dean, following his usual course, gave an excellent speech, followed by a humorous one from Canon Melville.

We congratulate the School on having, after long years, formed a band. An entertainment—a very creditable performance —was the result of steady, though laborious practice. We are always glad to see any new institution started, and we hope that the School Band will flourish for many years.

so much to the relish of happiness in this world, is joined in the yoke of troubles because its end is separation;" so runs the Sanscrit proverb, and in this case we find ourselves deploring, at the commencement of another School year, the loss of so many who had taken a leading part in the games and work of the School. While regretting their loss, we wish them all success in their future careers, whether at the Universities or elsewhere.

We suppose that it is only natural that there should be a varying amount of interest in the various School institutions. At present the Museum and the Chess Club seem to be rather neglected, while gymnastic exercises do not possess the attraction which they did last year. Our superfluous energy is flowing in other channels, but we trust that there will be no real decay in any of the subjects which we have mentioned. Chess especially we hope will show new vigour in
