Covid-19 Policy Statement Swimming 12.05.2021
WE WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT WE’RE DOING TO MINIMISE THE RISK FROM CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 TO OUR WHOLE COMMUNITY We are following guidance from Swim England who are the industry body within the UK, along with implementing our own policies, to make your visit as safe and enjoyable as possible. Please do not enter the building if you, or anyone in your household have any signs of Coronavirus COVID-19 Symptoms (see gov.uk for guidelines). Those who are at high risk should follow the medical guidance issued to them at all times. We request that you wear a face covering around the Centre, unless exempt or during an activity.If a face covering is taken into a fitness area it must be kept on the person/in a pocket. A face covering MUST be worn on spectator area. Pre-Booking & Pre-Payment of your Swimming Session MUST be made before arriving at the Centre (see Activity Booking & Cancellation Guides in our General Policy Statement). Entry to the Centre will not be allowed without a booking in place (please have your booking confirmation & membership card ready on arrival). All bookings can be made 21 days in advance. View our Timetable here. We ask that you arrive at the Centre with your Swimwear on, under your outer clothing.
In line with Guidance from Swim England Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the Swimming Pool for a general swim visit but can attend the following: • Attending a pre-booked/paid lesson with a Centre Instructor. • Under16s Lane Swimming; members of Canterbury Kings Swim Academy & Club Swimmers can book a swim session. Parent/Carer must remain onsite during session. • Bookable Family Swimming Sessions for 2 household only. One double lane per group with pool equipment available. Booking by phone only. Payment must be made at time of booking (normal swimming ratio, guidelines & fees apply). 1 hour booking slot includes changing times & exiting the Centre. Wet Changing Rooms are open, but for restricted use by swimmers only in order to reduce the time spent & number of people in the changing rooms. Pupil & Family Changing Areas may be used. You may only bring a minimal amount of essential items into The Centre, which must be put into a locker before you enter poolside. Please do not leave any personal belongings out in the changing rooms. Please be patient, respect social distancing rules & use hand sanitiser provided before & after using lockers. Locker Tokens are available to purchase from Reception (Tokens & £1 coins will not be lent out).
No personal belongings (including towels) can be taken onto poolside. With the exception of prescribed Medication/Aids, Poolside Shoes for safety, Water Bottles & Swimming Aids. We encourage Members to bring their own swimming aids (e.g. kickboards & pull-buoys). You can purchase those and much more from our Online Shop. Items purchased will be available to collect from Reception (we do not currently offer a delivery service). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Please do not leave swimwear soaking in the sinks. WATER FOUNTAINS Please bring your own water bottles already filled, wherever possible. Water Bottle refill is available from the fountains, but cannot be used by mouth. Re-usable water bottles & bottled water are available to purchase. ENTRY TO THE CHANGING ROOMS & POOL Use changing room bench markers as a guide to aid you with Social Distancing. Use lockers to store your personal belongings. Do not leave belongings hanging up or on benches.Please rinse off in changing room shower before entering poolside (to help maintain water quality). Social distancing must be maintained in and around the pool. EXITING THE POOL Leave the pool. Please dry and dress as quickly as possible. Exit the changing room and Centre by the front doors.
LANE SWIMMING GUIDANCE The Pool is divided into 3 double lanes (1 fast & 2 slow as a guide / max of 10 swimmers per double lane). Please follow the direction of the lane boards at all times and swim in single file. This will help to prevent accidents and maintain a safe social distance. Swim in a lane appropriate to your swimming ability/speed and allow faster swimmers to pass you at the end of each length. When stopping/resting move to the edge of the lane and turn your head away to maintain social distancing measures. 2 single fast lanes will be available at times throughout the week, please ensure you swim continuously when using these lanes to maintain social distancing. Lifeguards are here for everyone’s safety. We ask that you adhere to our guidance, your cooperation is appreciated.

CKSA | *GROUP LESSONS | CRASH COURSES | PRIVATE LESSONS Please adhere to government guidance on social distancing at all times – arriving and leaving the Centre, within the changing rooms, walking or waiting on poolside and when static or moving in the water. Only one parent/carer to accompany/supervise their child during swimming lessons, wherever possible. Swimmers to arrive at the Centre with swimwear on under clothing. Arrive five minutes before start of lesson. If you arrive early, please wait in car/carpark. You may only bring a minimal amount of essential items into The Centre, which must be put into a locker before you enter poolside. Please do not leave any personal belongings out in the changing rooms. Towels cannot be taken onto poolside. Please rinse off in changing room shower before entering poolside to help maintain water quality. Walk in a clockwise direction around the pool to the location of your lesson. Instructors will deliver lesson from poolside to support current social distancing guidance. Parent/carer will need to be in the water with the swimmer for Discovery Duckling, Duckling (1 to 4), Stage 1, Stage 2 and swimmers new to Stage 3. Swimmers must bring their own goggles. Spare goggles will no longer be available to borrow.
We recommend and encourage swimmers to wear swimming hats. If no hat – long hair must be tied back. Equipment will be available for lessons which must be completely submerged in pool water at the beginning and end of lesson, in order to sanitise it. We encourage swimmers to bring their own float and noodle. If you would like to pre-order equipment, please visit our Online Shop. Exiting the Pool - Please leave poolside promptly, dry and dress as quickly as possible, exit the changing rooms and Centre by the front doors. The Play Pen has been removed to create more space to allow for social distancing. Parents/Carers of children attending swimming lessons must spectate from the Swimming Spectator Area, wear a face covering & use allocated seating. The Lounge Area is also available to wait in. Please respect social distancing guidelines at all times. *Adult group swimming lessons are not currently available.
