Bryce Canyon & Zion National Parks September 19th-22nd, 2022 Monday-Thursday $869 (Based Upon Double Occupancy) $289 (Single Supplement) Day One: We’ll leave the Valley with a stop for coffee & goodies on our way to Cameron Trading Post for lunch on self. Nestled along the Colorado River, and just 30 minutes south of the Grand Canyon, this trading post has been catering to Arizona tourists since the early 1900’s, serving great food at moderate prices. After lunch it’s back in the Transits and we’ll hit it for Kanab, Utah— an incredibly scenic drive that takes us through Navajo land with views of Marble Canyon, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam and more. After checking into our hotel, we’ll take a little time for a refresh, gather for our own Happy Hour and then head out for dinner on self. Day Two: Breakfast is included at the hotel, and then it’s back in the Transits and we’re headed for Zion National Park. Zion is a spectacular cliff and canyon landscape, a wondrous wilderness, including Kolob Arch, the world’s largest natural arch, with a span that measures 310 feet. Zion is rich with beautiful colors, breathtaking scenery and wildlife such as mule deer, golden eagles and mountain lions. We’ll spend a little time familiarizing ourselves with the area at the visitor’s center and then we’ll tour Zion from the comfort of a tram. Hop on and off as you wish, and later we’ll enjoy lunch on self, with two restaurants at Zion to choose from. Late afternoon we’ll return to our hotel and after a refresh, we’ll gather for Happy Hour before heading out for dinner on self. Day Three: We’ll enjoy breakfast included at the hotel, and then it’s back in the Transits and we’re headed for Bryce Canyon National Park. The beauty of Bryce Canyon is beyond description. It has been called “a cave without a ceiling, a forest of stone.” We’ll tour Bryce from the comfort of our own vehicle, and we’ll all enjoy a delicious lunch on self, at Ruby’s Inn—where we’ll have two restaurants to choose from and their menus offer something for everyone. Bryce Canyon is a series of natural amphitheaters, with thousands of multi-colored rock pinnacles called “hoodoos.” We’ll travel the 20-mile paved highway along the rim, overlooking magnificent views of the natural structures that were carved by erosion into graceful forms that glow with various colors. Late in the afternoon we’ll return to our hotel and after a refresh, we’ll gather for our own Happy Hour, before setting out for dinner on self. Day Four: Breakfast is included at the hotel, and then it’s bags out and we're back in the Transits headed for home. We’ll enjoy lots of great sightseeing and interesting stops along the way. And at an elevation ranging from 8,000-9,000 feet above sea level, the North Rim forms the edge of the Kaibab Plateau— offering some of the most spectacular views in the world. Early October, autumn color should be at its peak, the weather—fingers crossed—still pleasant, and the crowds dwindled away. Our journey to the North Rim could not be more dramatic—taking us past golden stands of quaking aspen, leading to forests of ancient spruce, fir, and pine trees. We’ll explore the North Rim as a driving tour along paved roads, stopping at important viewpoints—with an eye out for wildlife. We’ll enjoy lunch on self, at the Kaibab Lodge—offering ring side seating for all of this great scenery. Late afternoon, we’ll return to our hotel, enjoy our own Happy Hour, and then dinner on self. Day 1 - ARRIVE CHARLESTON Arrive in Charleston, SC and meet your Tour Director. Check into your hotel for a two night stay. Originally founded as Charles Towne in 1670 this cultured and refined city is a beautifully preserved treasure. Steeped in history and quintessentially Southern, the city’s past is evident in its genteel charm. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travelers. (D) Day 2 - CHARLESTON SIGHTSEEING This morning enjoy a Charleston City Tour viewing historic homes and restored buildings that have helped give Charleston the reputation as the “charm spot” of the South. Enjoy a stop at the interesting City Market. Later travel to the Charleston City Marina to board a boat and travel to Fort Sumter. The narrated tour features the harbor along with a guided tour of the Fort which is only accessible by boat. It was here on April 12, 1861 that Confederate troops fired the first shots of the Civil War. After dinner enjoy a Holiday Lights Drive through one of Charleston’s popular districts decked out for the holiday season. (B)
Day 3 - CHARLESTON - BEAUFORT - SAVANNAH This morning visit one of the most photographed plantations in America, Boone Hall Plantation, a 738-acre estate once the center of a cotton plantation and still a working farm. The half mile impressive entry is lined with Oak Trees and dotted with camellias and azaleas. Next travel along South Carolina’s scenic coastal route to the charming town of Beaufort, which has retained much of its pre-Civil War character. Enjoy a Beaufort Horse Drawn Carriage Tour to learn about the local Civil War History and see Antebellum & Victorian Architecture. Then travel to the fascinating city of Savannah, America’s first planned city, whose entire restored center - more than 1,000 buildings - is a registered National Historic Landmark. Tonight enjoy a southern dining experience at the historic Pirates’ House Restaurant, which has been welcoming seafarers and visitors since 1753. After dinner enjoy some of the wonderful holiday decorations & lights Savannah has to offer. (B,D) Day 4 - SAVANNAH SIGHTSEEING This morning enjoy a Savannah City Tour with a local guide. Learn about charming Savannah’s history, the nucleus of the colonial settlement in Georgia and the destination of General Sherman’s 1864 “March to the Sea”. Stroll along the cobblestone streets of Factors Walk and River Street, where old cotton warehouses have been converted into shops, art galleries and restaurants. AUGUSTINE Today travel to Jekyll Island & take a Trolley Tour to view the grand “cottages” that once belonged to such notables as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and J.P. Morgan. Enjoy lunch at the famous Jekyll Island Club, once owned by a group of American millionaires, this club was considered one of the most exclusive social clubs in America. Later travel south to the oldest city in the U.S., St. Augustine, first settled in 1565. Spend two nights in this Florida city known for its beauty, charismatic energy & historic character. The Haunted Gadsden Hotel October 25th-26th, 2022 Tuesday-Wednesday $399 (Based Upon Double Occupancy) $75 (Single Supplement) Just a few miles north of the Mexican border, Douglas, Arizona, a once remote ranching town is home to the notorious Gadsden Hotel. Built in 1902, then destroyed by fire, the Gadsden was rebuilt in 1929 in the Art Nouveau style—offering a magnificent Tiffany stained glass window overlooking the lobby, and a sweeping Italian marble staircase—up which Pancho Villa reportedly rode his horse. The hotel provided gracious hospitality to the growing business brought in by the mining industry and the settling of the Arizona Territory. The lobby of the Gadsden, “the living room,” hosted cattlemen, ranchers, copper mining executives and businessmen. For all of the Gadsden’s rich history, the hotel also had a dark side—hosting gamblers, and notable lawless characters of the American West. Famously haunted, guests and staff members have reported paranormal encounters on every floor, with the third floor seemingly the epicenter. The basement of the Gadsden is beyond fascinating—a 7,000 square foot labyrinth of twenty rooms—which secretly housed bootleg whiskey tunnels, brothels and the Rathskeller Speakeasy. Day One: We’ll leave the Valley with a stop for coffee and goodies, on way to Tombstone—The Town Too Tough To Die. Tombstone is home to many great little restaurants where we’ll enjoy lunch on self, and later take some time to stroll the blood-soaked streets, before jumping back in the Transits headed for Douglas. We’ll arrive at the hotel, check into our beautifully renovated rooms, and after a refresh we’ll gather again in the lobby before heading into the dark underbelly of the Gadsden! Let the party begin! A fabulous Welcome Dinner with a glass of wine will be served in the eerie and atmospheric Rathskeller Speakeasy. Take a one hundred year step back in time and unleash your inner flapper/gangster self! Cocktail attire is required, period attire is encouraged, unless you truly are a cowboy. Day Two: Breakfast is on self at the hotel, then it’s bags out and we’re headed to Bisbee, located 90 miles southeast of Tucson in the scenic Mule Mountains. Founded in 1880, Bisbee was one of the most cultured cities in the American West—the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco. Downtown Bisbee still retains much of its cosmopolitan charm, with its mining camp roots also fully on display in the rollicking Brewery Gulch district—once home to 50 saloons and several brothels. We’ll visit the Queen Mine, don hard hats, miner’s headlamps and the always stylish yellow slicker, then head underground and back in time! Retired Phelps Dodge employees will narrate our journey 1,500 feet into the mine, recounting the dangers and dramas of mining days. Later we’ll explore the streets of Bisbee, now home to many interesting shops and galleries, and we’ll enjoy lunch on self with several wonderful restaurants to choose from. Arizona’s High Country & the White Mountain Trail System
September 12th-14th, 2022 Monday-Wednesday $499 (Based Upon Double Occupancy) $88 (Single Supplement) Come September, with the heat of the Valley still upon us, Arizona’s White Mountains are the perfect destination for nature lovers of all stripes. At elevations of 6,500 to 9,000 feet, this high country setting offers crystal mountain lakes surrounded by pine forests and lush green meadows. It is also the home of The White Mountain Trail System—a series of 25-30 interconnecting, multi-use trail loops—an excellent trail system that has been nationally ranked as one of the nation’s premier hiking destinations. Tranquil and scenic, most trails are also inhabited by watchable wildlife, including elk, deer, antelope, turkey and more. A unique feature of the Trail System is the loop concept. Traditional trails take us from point A to point B, requiring a return trip over the same terrain. The Trail System takes us from point A to point A, along a loop offering connector loops that vary in length and level of difficulty—a great system for all ages.
Day One: We’ll leave the Valley with a stop in Payson at Fargo’s Steakhouse for a delicious meet & greet lunch, included. After lunch it’s back in the Transits and we’re off to enjoy breathtaking scenery on our way to Hon-Dah Casino Resort, our headquarters for the next two nights. There are four beautiful lakes in Prescott: Goldwater, Watson, Willow and Lynx. We’re going to visit them all, with a stop first on Prescott’s famous Whiskey Row for lunch on self, before we begin this exploration. Once a block of 40 saloons driven by the gold rush culture, Whiskey Row drew cowboys, gamblers, prospectors, bawdy girls and outlaws. Today Whiskey Row is home to not just its saloons, but also galleries, charming shops, antique stores and several wonderful restaurants. After lunch we’re off to Goldwater Lake, the jewel in the crown of the Prescott National Forest. From here we’ll head northeast to enjoy a spectacular driving tour of Watson and Willow Lakes. Known as the twin lakes, Watson and Willow are in the Granite Dells of Prescott, an area so scenic that it has seen more than its fair share of western movie shoots and was once home to the very popular Garden of the Gods Resort. An otherworldly stretch of gigantic boulders, Granite Dells runs along Granite Creek, with Watson and Willow Lakes sitting right in the middle making for the most remarkable of vistas. From here we’ll make our way to Lynx Lake, in the cool and pine-scented Bradshaw Mountains. So completely different from the twins, Lynx Lake is heavily wooded, and surrounded by tall Ponderosa pines, scrub oak and Manzanita. Rock Art Ranch & The Turquoise Room September 28th, Wednesday………..$139 Arizona’s most hidden treasure, the Rock Art Ranch, near Winslow, is a privately-owned 5,000 acre cattle ranch that was once part of the Hashknife Gang Spread. More than a home to cattle and bison, archaeological records show that people have been passing through this area for over 13,000 years—hunting and gathering groups, semi nomadic and later sedentary farmers, and it is considered a sacred site by Native Americans. Chevelon Canyon, a narrow, deep and watered gorge, cuts through

the ranch, and thousands of petroglyphs dated from 5000 BC to 1400 AD, etch the steep canyon walls. Visitors to the ranch can climb down into the canyon on a natural staircase that has been supplemented with a few manmade steps, but the canyon can also be experienced comfortably from an observation deck. The ranch also features an excavated Navajo sweat lodge and hogan, and a humble yet remarkable museum of ancient Native American, as well as cowboy artifacts that have been discovered on the property.
