Our first destination will be historic downtown Williams, where we’ll enjoy lunch on self. With Route 66 diners, local cafés, restaurants, shops, and nostalgic roadside attractions, Williams is the perfect place to begin our Grand Canyon adventure. After lunch, we’ll continue to Grand Canyon National Park, where our afternoon will be devoted to experiencing the magnificent South Rim. We’ll begin at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center before making our way to Mather Point for that unforgettable first look into one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Guests who would like to stretch their legs may enjoy an optional walk along the paved Rim Trail from Mather Point to Yavapai Point. Those who prefer not to walk will be transported to meet the group at Yavapai Point, ensuring everyone can enjoy the spectacular scenery at their own comfort level. We’ll also visit the Yavapai Geology Museum, located directly along the canyon’s rim. Fascinating exhibits and a detailed relief model help tell the geological story of the Grand Canyon, while enormous picture windows provide breathtaking panoramic views. Later that afternoon, we’ll check into Yavapai Lodge, our home for the evening. Located inside Grand Canyon National Park near Market Plaza, the lodge offers a wonderful combination of rustic charm, comfort, and convenience. Park shuttle stops, the market, café, tavern, and dining hall are all nearby, while the canyon’s rim and iconic viewpoints are only minutes away. After time to settle into our rooms, we’ll gather for an included dinner. As evening approaches, we’ll return to Yavapai Point to watch the setting sun transform the canyon walls into brilliant shades of gold, red, and purple. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing evening at the lodge. Those who wish may step outside for optional stargazing beneath the remarkably dark skies of Grand Canyon National Park. Day Two: Desert View Drive, Watchtower & Cameron Trading Post Breakfast will be on self at Yavapai Lodge before bags are loaded and we begin our scenic journey along Desert View Drive. Along the way, we’ll stop at carefully selected viewpoints, including Grandview Point and Navajo Point. Each overlook offers a different perspective of the canyon’s immense cliffs, colorful rock formations, and the Colorado River winding far below. Our featured destination will be the historic Desert View Watchtower, one of the Grand Canyon’s most recognizable landmarks. Designed by celebrated Southwestern architect Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter and completed in 1932, the stone tower was inspired by the ancestral Puebloan architecture of the Colorado Plateau. From Desert View Point, the landscape opens toward the Painted Desert, with sweeping views of the canyon and Colorado River. We’ll have time to admire the Watchtower’s remarkable architecture, enjoy the ground-floor View Room, and take in the surrounding panoramic overlooks. After leaving Grand Canyon National Park, we’ll continue to the historic Cameron Trading Post for lunch on self. Established in 1916 along the Little Colorado River, the trading post has welcomed travelers for more than a century. Its restaurant serves American, Mexican, and Native American-inspired dishes— including its famous Navajo taco. There will also be time to browse the expansive shop, known for its Native American jewelry, pottery, rugs, baskets, artwork, and Southwestern gifts. Following lunch, we’ll begin our return to the Valley, bringing home wonderful memories of historic Route 66, a night inside Grand Canyon National Park, a spectacular South Rim sunset, the iconic Desert View Watchtower, and some of Arizona’s most magnificent scenery. Day One: Flagstaff, Petrified Forest National Park & La Posada We’ll leave the Valley behind and travel north to the cool mountain air of Flagstaff, where we’ll enjoy lunch on self with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Our afternoon will be devoted to truly exploring Petrified Forest National Park—and this will be much more than a quick drive through! Encompassing 221,390 acres, the park protects one of the world’s largest and most colorful concentrations of petrified wood, along with painted badlands, ancient fossils, ancestral Puebloan sites, and a preserved section of historic Route 66. We’ll enter through the park’s northern entrance, beginning at the Painted Desert Visitor Center before traveling along the rim of the spectacular Painted Desert. We’ll stop at several carefully selected overlooks, where sweeping views reveal layers of red, orange, lavender, and gray stretching across the horizon. We’ll also walk a portion of the Painted Desert Rim Trail and visit the historic Painted Desert Inn. Originally known as the Stone Tree House, this National Historic Landmark was later remodeled in the Pueblo Revival style by the Civilian Conservation Corps using plans by National Park Service architect Lyle Bennett. Mary Colter later influenced its color scheme and interior renovations, while renowned Hopi artist Fred Kabotie created the beautiful murals that remain inside. Continuing south, we’ll stop at the park’s historic Route 66 alignment. Petrified Forest is the only National Park Service site containing a segment of the Historic Route 66 alignment. We’ll then visit Puerco Pueblo, where a short trail leads past the remains of a village once occupied by ancestral Puebloan people, along with ancient petroglyphs carved into the surrounding rocks. At Newspaper Rock, we’ll look out over an extraordinary collection of more than 650 petroglyphs created by generations of ancestral Puebloan people. From there, we’ll continue to Blue Mesa, one of the park’s most striking landscapes. We’ll drive the scenic loop through otherworldly badlands striped in shades of blue, lavender, gray, and red. Those who wish may walk the Blue Mesa Trail for a closer look, while the overlooks provide equally impressive views from above. As we make our way toward the southern end of the park, we’ll enjoy stops at Jasper Forest and the Crystal Forest Trail, where colorful petrified logs lie scattered across the landscape and quartz crystals sparkle within the ancient wood. We’ll conclude our exploration at the Rainbow Forest Museum & Visitor Center, where paleontological exhibits introduce us to the remarkable animals and environments of the Triassic Period, before walking the Giant Logs Trail—home to some of the largest and most brilliantly colored petrified logs in the park. More than 200 million years ago, enormous trees were carried into ancient river systems and buried beneath sediment, where silica and trace minerals gradually replaced the organic wood, preserved its cellular structure in stone, and created the remarkable colors seen today. After an afternoon full of discovery, we’ll exit through the park’s southern entrance and make our way to Winslow for a truly special overnight at La Posada. Designed by legendary architect Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter for the Fred Harvey Company, La Posada opened in 1930 and was considered by Colter to be her masterpiece. She meticulously planned nearly every aspect of the property, from the building and furniture to the surrounding landscape. The hotel closed in 1957 and was later converted into railroad offices before an extraordinary restoration began in 1997. Today, La Posada is more than a hotel—it is a living museum filled with Southwestern architecture, history, gardens, and original art. After checking into our rooms, enjoy time to explore this remarkable property. Dinner will be on self at the acclaimed Turquoise Room, located inside the hotel. Day Two: Meteor Crater & Fargo’s Steakhouse Breakfast will be on self at the Turquoise Room before bags are loaded and we continue to one of Arizona’s most astonishing natural landmarks: Meteor Crater. Approximately 50,000 years ago, an ironnickel space rock estimated to have been about 150 feet across hurtled toward Earth at roughly 26,000 miles per hour. The collision carved an enormous crater nearly one mile wide and approximately 550 feet deep—in a matter of seconds. Considered one of the best-preserved meteorite impact sites on Earth, Meteor Crater also played an important role in America’s space program. From 1964 through 1972, NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey used the site to train Apollo astronauts to recognize impact features they might encounter on the Moon. We’ll have time to take in the enormous scale of the crater from its observation areas and explore the Discovery Center & Space Museum. Exhibits reveal the science behind meteor impacts, the crater’s connection to space exploration, and the decades-long effort to prove how it was formed. We’ll even see the 1,406pound Holsinger Meteorite—the largest fragment recovered from the impact site. Following our visit, we’ll travel to Fargo’s Steakhouse in Payson for an included lunch. After a delicious meal together, we’ll begin our return to the Valley, bringing home memories of ancient forests turned to stone, colorful desert landscapes, historic Route 66, classic Fred Harvey hospitality, and one of the most dramatic collisions in Earth’s history. Day One: Autumn is the perfect time to head to Tucson—one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the American Southwest. We’ll begin our day with a visit to Mission San Xavier del Bac. Known as “The White Dove of the Desert,” this stunning National Historic Landmark was founded by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692, and the current church structure dates to the late 1700s—making it the oldest intact European building in Arizona. The richly decorated interior features remarkable statuary and murals that offer a glimpse into 18th-century Spanish Colonial life. From there, we’re off to Casino Del Sol, a luxurious AAA Four-Diamond resort and TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner. After checking in and taking some time to refresh, you’ll enjoy lunch on self, with multiple on-site dining options, including the Festa International Buffet—offering everything from Asian stir-fry to Italian favorites, a carving station, fresh salads, and decadent desserts. Later that afternoon, we’ll visit Kitt Peak National Observatory, home to 23 optical and two radio telescopes—making it the largest and most diverse collection of astronomical instruments in the Northern Hemisphere. Located high on the Tohono O'odham Nation in the Quinlan Mountains, the observatory sits at nearly 7,000 feet and offers pristine dark skies ideal for stargazing. As part of the Nightly Observing Program, we’ll begin at the Visitor Center to explore engaging exhibits and enjoy a light meal (choice of turkey, vegetarian, or gluten-free sandwich) before joining a docent-led introduction to astronomy and the night sky. We’ll then step outdoors for a guided session on identifying stars and constellations with high-powered binoculars. Because temperatures drop quickly at this elevation, it’s important to wear warm clothes, pants (not shorts), closed-toe walking shoes, and a jacket. The evening continues inside one of the telescope domes, where we’ll view deep-sky objects through a powerful research-grade telescope—an unforgettable evening of exploration under the stars. Day Two: Breakfast is on self at the hotel, with several food outlets available for a relaxed and easy start to the morning. Then we’re off to the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, located on the beautiful University of Arizona campus. Established in 1975, Flandrau has long been a place where science meets curiosity—offering thoughtfully designed exhibits and immersive experiences that explore everything from astronomy and space exploration to geology, energy, and optics. Two floors of science exhibits invite you to explore our vast and fascinating universe— both here on Earth and beyond our solar system—while showcasing real University of Arizona research. We’ll enjoy a private showing in the Eos Foundation Planetarium Theatre, a recently renovated space featuring a 4K fulldome projection system, surround sound, and premium stadium-style seating. After our time at the planetarium, we’ll head to Gentle Ben’s Brewing Company for lunch on self. A longtime Tucson favorite since 1971, Gentle Ben’s offers both indoor and patio seating—making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy a great meal before we begin our journey home.

Monument Valley & Canyon de Chelly October 5th-7th, 2026 $999 Per Person (Based Upon Double Occupancy) $215 (Single Supplement) Day One: We’ll travel north with a stop for lunch, on self, at Cameron Trading Post. A haven for travelers since 1916, this trading post boasts an expansive dining room, with a huge stone fireplace and tall picture windows, offering a view of the Little Colorado River Gorge. We’ll enjoy the ambience, along with a terrific menu that runs from burgers to salads, and includes local favorites. After lunch we’ll explore the Grand Canyon via the East Entrance at Desert View, offering a unique opportunity to visit the world-famous Desert View Watchtower. Later we’ll travel to beautiful Monument Valley, check into our rooms at Goulding’s Lodge, and after a refresh, gather for a fabulous Welcome Dinner. We’ll experience an extraordinary evening showcasing a traditional Navajo Storyteller, while enjoying a delicious Navajo taco buffet, served with homemade frybread and all the fixin’s, included. Day Two: Breakfast is included at the hotel. Later we’ll set off on a 2.5 hour jeep tour, covering more than 30 miles of secluded back-country, to discover the restricted areas of Monument Valley, a sacred homeland to the Navajo, who are the Keepers of Monument Valley. We’ll learn about the history of the Ancestral Puebloans, early Native American peoples, famously known for their petroglyphs, pictographs and their spectacular cliff dwellings. We’ll visit all of the famous monoliths of Monument Valley—The Mittens, John Ford’s Point, Three Sisters, North Window, Totem Pole, Yei Bi Cheis and Artist’s Point. These are the real life backdrops for Hollywood Westerns such as Stagecoach, The Searchers, How the West was Won, and so many more. Afterwards we’ll enjoy lunch, on self, before boarding our Transits headed for Canyon de Chelly and the Thunderbird Lodge. Owned and operated by the Navajo Nation, the historic Thunderbird Lodge will be our cozy headquarters for the night. We’ll take some time for a refresh before setting out this evening for our own driving exploration of the South Rim of Canyon de Chelly. Later we’ll return to the hotel for dinner, on self. Thunderbird Lodge sits on the site of a trading post that was built in 1896. The restaurant, housed in the trading post’s original building, famously serves traditional Native American dishes, along with American favorites. Day Three: Breakfast is included at the hotel. After breakfast jeeps will arrive to take us on a half-day tour of Canyon de Chelly. We’ll be led by our Navajo guides, who will explain the significance of man-made structures and symbols while also sharing the natural points of interest. Heavy-duty six-wheel-drive touring vehicles are equipped with padded seats to provide a good experience. The tours stop frequently for photo opportunities, to visit ancient sites, Navajo farms and rock art. When the tour is over we’ll head back to the hotel for a buffet style lunch, featuring all-America favorites, included. After lunch it’s back in the Transits, and we’re headed for home, with plenty of stops and great sightseeing along the way. We hope you’ll join us for this remarkable tour!

Canyon Country: Horseshoe Bend Rafting & Upper Antelope Canyon September 29th—October 1st,2026 $799 Per Person (Based Upon Double Room Occupancy) $225 (Single Supplement) Day One: Arrival in Page We’ll leave the Valley this morning as we head north toward the cool mountain air of Flagstaff. Late morning, we’ll enjoy lunch on self in historic downtown Flagstaff, where a wide variety of local restaurants, cafés, and familiar favorites offer something for everyone. After lunch, we’ll take time to explore the charming streets—lined with galleries, bookshops, and interesting local stores—before continuing north. As the scenery opens to wide desert vistas and striking rock formations, we’ll make our scenic drive to Page, where the Colorado River meets Lake Powell. By late afternoon, we’ll check into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Page–Lake Powell, our home for the next two nights. After time to relax, we’ll head out for dinner on self at The Dam Bar & Grille, a longtime local favorite known for classic comfort dishes in a casual setting. Enjoy a free evening afterward. Day Two: Colorado River Rafting Adventure & Dinner Breakfast is included at the hotel before we set out for one of the most memorable experiences of the tour. This morning we’ll travel to Lee’s Ferry to begin our Horseshoe Bend Raft Trip, operated by Wilderness River Adventures. This smoothwater float offers a wonderfully relaxing way to experience the dramatic beauty of the Colorado River and Glen Canyon— perfect for travelers seeking adventure without whitewater. After a short scenic drive, we’ll board a comfortable motorized pontoon raft for approximately three hours on the river. Towering sandstone cliffs rise more than a thousand feet above us, creating a peaceful yet awe-inspiring setting. Along the way, professional guides share engaging narration about the region’s geology, Indigenous history, and early river exploration. We’ll pass petroglyph sites, watch for wildlife, and enjoy unforgettable views as the river winds toward the iconic curve of Horseshoe Bend—all from the calm comfort of the raft. Lunch and bottled water are included today. A boxed lunch from Subway will be enjoyed onboard the pontoons, allowing you to relax and take in the scenery without interruption. Later this afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel with time to refresh before heading out for a group dinner, included, to cap off a memorable day.
Day Three: Upper Antelope Canyon & Journey Home Breakfast is included at the hotel before we set out for an unforgettable morning exploring some of the most iconic scenery in the Southwest. Today we’ll visit Upper Antelope Canyon, located on Navajo land and accessible only by guided tour. Known as the more accessible of the two canyons, Upper Antelope Canyon features a flat, sandy floor with no stairs, making it easier to navigate while still offering a truly breathtaking experience. The canyon is shaped like an “A,” with narrow passageways that open above, allowing beams of light (when conditions are right) to filter down and illuminate the swirling sandstone walls in stunning shades of orange, red, and gold. These smooth, wave-like formations have made it one of the most photographed slot canyons in the world. As you consider this experience, it’s helpful to know that while the walking is relatively easy, the canyon can be sandy and uneven in spots, and tours move at a steady pace. All travelers should be comfortable completing approximately one mile of walking within an hour. Our local Navajo guides will lead the way, sharing insights into the canyon’s formation and helping point out some of the most striking features along the route. Travelers with mobility concerns are encouraged to call the office prior to booking to ensure this experience is a good fit. Following our canyon experience, we’ll begin our journey home with a stop for lunch on self at Cameron Trading Post, where the expansive menu offers something for everyone and there’s time to browse Native American arts and gifts.
