Experiential Learning Community Engagement

Sound All Around

(Ages 3–5)

A fun-filled introduction to music through storytelling for our littlest listeners and their families. Exposure to instruments and basic music concepts spark interest in classical music.

• $8/ticket

Broadway Bridges Philly (Grades 9–12)

In partnership with The Broadway League, high schools receive discounted tickets to Broadway shows, with a goal to enrich students’ arts education, promote cultural equity and access, and cultivate a diverse future audience for live theater.

STUDENT MATINEE SERIES

This series brings Philadelphia-area teachers and their students to the Kimmel Center to learn about the performing arts through especially engaging performances. Lesson guides, resources, and classroom visits are offered to help teachers prepare their students for the performance experience.

STUDENT MATINEE SERIES Jazz for Freedom (Grades 5–7)

An exploration of social change through the history and traditions of jazz.

• Tickets are free for all schools. Free busing provided for Title 1 schools.

STUDENT MATINEE SERIES Jane H. Kesson School Concert Program

(Grades 3-5)

The ideal way to expose students to the exciting world of classical music and the traditions of the concert hall.

• Free tickets and buses (2 per school) for School District of Philadelphia schools

• $8/ticket for non-School District of Philadelphia schools

An introduction to the magic of musical theater and the medley of art forms that bring stories to life.

• Tickets are free for all schools. Free busing provided for Title 1 schools.

Behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals of The Philadelphia Orchestra and other artists presented by Ensemble Arts.

PHILADANCO Days

(Grades 2–12)

An introduction to dance with access to and inspiration from emerging dancers and choreographers from the Philadelphia Dance Company.

• Tickets are free for all schools. Free busing provided for Title 1 schools.

Shared music-making with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra for musicians of all ages across a range of abilities.

Our City, Your Orchestra

The Philadelphia Orchestra embraces opportunities to step off the stage and into our community to deliver music and experiences that reflect the many cultures that make our city great. Concerts in this series include our annual MLK Tribute Concert and Pride Celebration.

Family Discovery Series

Kid-friendly and sensoryinclusive preconcert activities before Philadelphia Orchestra Family Concerts and select Ensemble Arts presentations.

Partner Events

Discounted events in Ensemble Arts venues for eligible nonprofit community partners.

Student Circle

High school, undergraduate, and graduate students receive incomparable access to select Philadelphia Orchestra concerts for only $30 per season.

Performance Training

School Ensemble Program (Grades 5–8)

Students at KIPP West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School receive daily, in-school general music education and ensemble-based instruction.

All City Orchestra and Jazz Fellowship Programs (Grades 9–12)

Tuition free, intensive music education for talented and highly motivated classical and jazz musicians. These Fellowships offer private lessons with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and renowned Philadelphia jazz musicians, mentorship, stipends, and performance opportunities.

Side-by-Side Rehearsals

Joint performances with student orchestras and The Philadelphia Orchestra led by a skilled conductor to connect developing musicians with their professional counterparts for a once-in-alifetime experience.

Middle School Summer Arts Sessions

(Grades 5–8)

A 2-week, introductory performing arts experience teaching the basics of music, dance, theater, and digital arts.

High School Summer Arts Sessions

(Grades 9–12)

A 3-week, intermediate–advanced level performing arts experience focused on acting, vocal arts, and dance.

Masterclasses

Instruction and mentorship for young musicians, vocalists, actors, and dancers from notable, professional artists who grace our mainstages.

All City Orchestra Summer Academy

(Grades 6–12)

The Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts (in partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra, the School District of Philadelphia, and Project 440) hosts this high-quality orchestra and jazz experience that provides training and mentorship to help students maintain their technical playing skills during the summer.
