Page 1

Game. Putt. Play.

Welcome to

2026, and thank you for visiting today!

Now in its fourth year, we’re once again thrilled to bring this growing event to the families of Brisbane.

Why host such a unique event? Because we know that choosing an education pathway is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make as a parent. It can shape your child’s friendships (and yours!), their interests, achievements, and—most importantly—their happiness. It might even influence where you choose to live!

From school selection to sports, tutoring to uncovering passions, every decision contributes to your child’s future.

Eeek—no pressure, right?

That’s why we created an annual event to save busy parents a bit of sanity—bringing together a wide range of education options under one

roof, in one fun-filled day. A place where kids can try out sports and workshops, enjoy demos and shows, while parents chat with leading education providers, compare options, and explore what’s on offer.

Best of all? Entry is free, the activities are free, toddler meltdowns are totally normal, the coffee is good, and the whole family is catered for.

We hope today helps you discover the perfect learning journey for your child, and sparks an excitement for learning in every kid who walks through our doors.

Have a fantastic day, and remember to give us a follow on socials. We’re a small, mumowned-and-operated business, so your visit and support truly mean the world to us.

EXPERT Dive Into Safety

Why year-round swimming is a lifelong gift for Queensland families

For Queensland families, the water isn’t just a weekend destination; it’s a way of life. From backyard pool parties to salty mornings at the beach, aquatic activities are the heartbeat of the community. However, as any local parent knows, with this incredible lifestyle comes a significant responsibility. At Rackley Swimming, the team believes that learning to swim is more than just an extracurricular activity — it is a critical rite of passage and a life-saving skill that every child deserves to master.

THE FOUNDATION OF WATER CONFIDENCE

The journey to water safety often starts much earlier than many realise. While formal lessons can begin as early as three months old, the foundation is often built at home in the family bathtub. By introducing babies to water from birth, parents help them become accustomed to the sensation on their faces, paving the way for breath control and future confidence.

To support this early development, Rackley Swimming offers free Baby Splash lessons to introduce the youngest family members to the water in a nurturing environment. Using engaging techniques like play, songs, and repetition, each session introduces essential water skills including safe entry, floating, and building water confidence at your baby’s own pace, while also giving parents the

skills and confidence to support their child’s learning journey. These early milestones are the building blocks for a child’s ability to eventually self-rescue.

EXPERT TIPS FOR SWIMMING SUCCESS

Cameron Speechley, Rackley Swimming’s General Manager shares his insights on how to help children thrive in the water:

• Aim for Endurance: While many stop lessons once a child can lap a pool, Rackley Swimming recommends staying in lessons until they can swim 1km continuously. This gives children the physical endurance required to cope with a rip at the beach or an unexpected fall into a waterway.

• Consistency Over Convenience: “Winter regression” is a common hurdle where skills stagnate during the cooler months. Continuing lessons year-round keeps the routine alive and ensures progress remains steady. Fortunately, Rackley’s 32°C heated, enclosed pools provide a comfortable, tropical environment regardless of the weather outside.

• The Power of Frequency: Internal data suggests that children who attend two lessons a week often learn three to four times faster than those attending only once. This increased frequency helps cautious children overcome anxiety and build muscle memory much more

effectively.

• “Yell and Tell”: Beyond strokes, kids are taught never to jump in to save a friend. Instead, they learn “reach and throw” rescues and the importance of yelling for an adult immediately — a strategy that protects both the victim and the rescuer.

A CULTURE OF SAFETY

Safety is a collaborative effort between swim schools and parents. According to Royal Life Saving guidelines, children under five require an adult within arm’s reach at all times. For older children, active supervision remains non-negotiable, even as they become more competent swimmers.

What truly sets a swim school apart, however, is the quality of its instructors. At Rackley Swimming, the teachers are heavily invested in the 5 Steps to Success teaching principles: Support, Trust, Energy, Patience, and Success. This philosophy ensures that every child isn’t just learning the mechanics of a stroke, but is also developing the emotional resilience and respect for the water needed to stay safe for a lifetime. By fostering a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, the team ensures that the pool becomes a place of joy rather than a place of fear.

To find out more about programs and pool locations, visit the Rackley Swimming team at Stand 8 - 9, and don’t miss their talk at 1.15 pm in the Demonstration Area!

LIVERPOOL FC INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY THRIVING AT St James College

Young footballers in Brisbane are gaining access to world-class training and development through the Liverpool Football Club International Academy (LFC IA) at St James College — the first program of its kind in the city.

Based in the heart of Brisbane, the Academy gives students the opportunity to train and play “The Liverpool Way” while continuing their education, combining highperformance sport with a strong academic and pastoral foundation.

Delivered in partnership with Liverpool FC International Academy Australia, the program follows the same globally recognised coaching curriculum used at the Club’s UK Academy. Students are guided by professional coaches connected with Liverpool FC, with a focus on developing technical skills, game intelligence and character.

St James College Principal Andrée Rice said the Academy aligns closely with the College’s vision for its students.

“At St James, our vision is to nurture confident young people who can achieve their dreams, on the field and in life,” she said. “Partnering with Liverpool FC International Academy Australia brings a world-class football experience to Brisbane’s inner city – aligning with our commitment to global learning, achieving aspirations and living out Jimmies Spirit.”

NOT JUST A SPORTS PROGRAM

More than simply a football program, the Academy is designed to support the whole

student. Alongside training, participants have access to professional development opportunities, school holiday clinics and community events, helping them grow both on and off the pitch.

Liverpool FC International Academy Australia General Manager Rob Davey said the partnership continues to reflect a shared focus on student development.

“We share a strong desire to integrate a world-leading football program into the College,” he said. “Students are empowered to strive towards achieving their dreams and aspirations, and we are confident this partnership aligns with our core values and mission.”

Central to the program is “The Liverpool Way” — a philosophy built on ambition, commitment, dignity and unity. These values underpin every aspect of the Academy, encouraging students to work together,

build resilience and pursue their goals with confidence.

Located in Brisbane’s only inner-city Catholic coeducational secondary college for Years 5 to 12, St James College offers a diverse and inclusive learning environment where every student is encouraged to reach their personal best.

With the Liverpool FC International Academy now firmly embedded in the College’s offering, students are benefiting from a unique pathway that blends elite sport with education, and opens the door to future opportunities both within and beyond the game.

LESS SCROLLING MORE Doing

Family life, sorted

There’s a moment most parents know well. It’s Friday night — or maybe the start of the school holidays, the term’s been frantic — and someone says, “What are we doing this weekend?”

Cue the scroll.

Endless tabs. Half-plans. A vague promise to “figure something out tomorrow.” That’s exactly where Kids in the City comes in.

For nearly 20 years, this quietly iconic magazine (alongside its sister title Kids on the Coast) has been helping southeast Queensland families cut through the noise and get straight to the good stuff. Not everything. Not overwhelming. Just the things that are actually worth your time. Think of it as your well-informed friend who always knows what’s on, especially when the school holidays roll around and suddenly you need a plan for every day.

Inside each issue, you’ll find a thoughtful mix of local stories, school insights, community news and genuinely useful ideas for family life in Brisbane. But it goes deeper than just “what’s on”. Kids in the City is also a trusted guide when it comes to the bigger decisions — particularly around education.

From in-depth features on choosing the right school to expert-led articles that unpack different learning approaches, wellbeing, and child development, the magazine supports parents through every stage of their child’s journey. It’s the kind of content you come back to — when you’re weighing up options, seeking reassurance, or simply wanting to feel more informed and confident in your choices.

It’s also the kind of magazine you pick up for one thing and then end up folding down pages, texting ideas to friends, and leaving on

The Ultimate in Glamping at

the kitchen bench “just in case”.

And yes, it’s free. Properly free. No catch.

Then there’s the website, which many parents will tell you is their not-so-secret weapon. Updated daily, kidsinthecity.com.au is packed with things to do, places to go, and ways to fill those “I’m bored” moments before they even start.

But it’s the school holiday guides that parents really swear by. Comprehensive, easy to navigate, and genuinely useful, they take the pressure off those long stretches when you suddenly need fresh ideas on repeat. For many families, they’re the difference between a stressful break — and a really great one.

The Kids in the City weekly ‘What’s On’ e-news is also an essential part of family life in Brisbane. Once a week, the best of what’s happening across Brisbane, is delivered neatly to your inbox. Heading further afield? There’s one for Gold Coast and one for Sunshine Coast too!

Want to know more? Come by the Kids in the City stand to pick up a free copy, enter the giveaways, sign up for the e-news, see what all the fuss is about.

Because when you’ve got a plan (or at least a really good backup one), family life runs a whole lot smoother.

FUTURE Learning With Robots HAS NEVER BEEN SO HUMAN

EditGo2 at Discovery Zone 3!

Preparing today’s children to be the protagonists of tomorrow’s technology.

We’ve all seen sci-fi movies with robots taking over, but real life is more inspiring and far more human. We’re in the era of the Smart Society, where AI and innovation are already in our homes and classrooms.

According to DJ, the founder of EditGo2 Edu, a provider of curriculum-aligned robotics programs, the key to navigating this evolution isn’t found in a manual, but in our mindset. “Technology should serve the human… never replace,” DJ explains. “At EditGo2, we believe that learning with robots is about empowering children to be the protagonists of their own future, ensuring they lead the machines, not the other way around.”

THE HUMAN-LED REVOLUTION

The fear that technology might displace human connection is common, but EditGo2 is proving the opposite. Their programs are built on the philosophy that robots are tools for creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. By introducing kids to Edit, an intelligent and friendly robot, the mystery and ‘fear’ of the unknown are replaced with curiosity.

“Edit helps people get closer to innovation,” says DJ. “It breaks the fear of technology and shows that it can be simple, friendly, and most importantly, under human control.”

PROGRAMS DESIGNED FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

EditGo2 doesn’t just “show” robots; they integrate them into the educational fabric of Australia. Their programs are aligned with the Australian Curriculum (V9) and frameworks like EYLF, MTOP, and Little Scientists. Whether it’s a one-off spark of interest or a deep dive into logic, there is a pathway for every child:

• Show & Play (30–45 min): A fun, interactive introduction to robotics.

• Mini Program (Up to 8 Weeks): Progressive learning through collaborative challenges.

• Pilot Session: A single session for schools to observe real-world engagement.

A ROADMAP FOR EVERY AGE

As children grow, their relationship with technology evolves. EditGo2 tailors the experience to meet them where they are:

• Explorers (Ages 4–5): At this foundational stage, children develop an emotional connection and body awareness, learning the essential lesson that “robots are tools” for their own discovery.

• Discoverers (Ages 6–7): Young learners begin to master simple commands and

planning, with a strong emphasis on the importance of collaborative teamwork.

• Creators (Ages 8–9): Moving into more advanced territory, students engage in supervised control, taking on missions and using robotics to navigate complex problemsolving.

• Junior Programmers (Ages 10–12): The final tier focuses on logic and block programming, where students create their own projectbased solutions to real-world challenges.

EMBRACING THE FUTURE

DJ believes that we owe it to the next generation to provide them with the tools they need to thrive. Some jobs of the future don’t even exist yet, but the skills of logic, planning, and creativity are timeless.

“We do not replace teachers; we support and enhance learning,” DJ emphasises.

By embracing interactive robotics today, we are preparing the creators, inventors, and leaders of tomorrow.

“Let’s celebrate the incredible things humans can do with the right tools in their hands.”

Ready to see the future of learning firsthand? Come meet DJ and the team at Discovery Zone 3 to see Edit in action! Let your kids experience the fun, creativity, and empowerment of human-led robotics for themselves.

TO ASK YOURSELF

Beyond the brochures and polished answers, trust your instinct. Ask yourself:

• What learning environment would best suit your child?

• Does the school offer programs aligned with your child’s interests and personality?

• How did the conversation feel: welcoming, genuine, aligned with your values?

Top tip: Don’t be afraid to take notes, grab brochures and follow up after the event. A great conversation at the Fair is just the beginning.
