2026-2027 Kickit Competitive Agreement for Parents and Dancers

Dear Parents/Guardians,

June 2026

Congratulations, your child has been selected to join the competitive program at Kickit Dance Studio. This is a very exciting opportunity that only certain students in the studio are picked for. Your child was selected because they have demonstrated a positive attitude, and a hard working dedication to their classes

What does this mean?

● Our competitive classes give students an opportunity to dance with other students their age who have also demonstrated these same qualities; this means that classes will move at a more challenging pace

● Our competitive classes require that students have a commitment level greater than the average class Attendance in competitive classes is extremely important Please notify the office in advance of any absences when possible

● Students in competitive classes will perform in at least two dance competitions held in Winnipeg

As part of the competitive program, dancers will be competing at the following dance competitions for the 2026-2027 season.

On the Floor Winnipeg - March 9th - 13th, 2027

(Optional Solo/Duo/Trio & Mini Competitive, Junior Competitive, Pre-Intermediate Competitive, Elementary Competitive, Intermediate 2 Competitive Hip Hop, Intermediate/Advanced 2 Competitive Hip Hop, Advanced Senior Competitive Hip Hop, Competitive 1 Musical Theatre, Competitive 2 Musical Theatre competitive groups)

Canadian National Dance Championships #1 - April 14th - 18th, 2027

(All Competitive Classes)

VIEW Dance Challenge Calgary #5 - May 13th - 16th, 2027

(Mandatory for Full-Time Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Senior, Advanced 1, Advanced 2 Competitive Classes)

VIEW Dance Challenge Winnipeg #2 - May 27th - May 30th, 2027

Performing at the Annual Kickit Recitals is mandatory for all competitive dancers. Saturday, June 12th - 9:30am, 2:15pm, 7:00pm Date subject to change

● With these opportunities come additional fees There are entry fees for the competitions, which are approximately $75 - $100 per group per competition Competition Entry Fees will be invoiced as they are due beginning November 2026. No refunds will be given for competition entry fees regardless of withdrawal.

● Costumes for competitive classes are ordered early in the dance season. A deposit of $100 per costume per class will be due October 1st For any additional pieces your dancer has been selected for and/or chooses to participate in, a deposit of $100 per costume, per routine will be due when costumes are ordered (October/November)

Costume Sizing Policy - If a new costume size is required, the studio must be informed in writing within 7 days of the dancer trying on the costume. After this 7-day period, new sizes may still be requested; however, families will be responsible for any associated costs, including shipping fees for a return (if applicable) or the full cost of both costumes if a return is not possible.

Balance of costume will be invoiced and due when the costume arrives. No refunds will be given for costumes regardless of withdrawal Prices vary for competitive groups depending on the age of the group and the type of piece they are performing, ranging from $100 - $250+ per costume

The following classes are mandatory co-requisites to participate in our competitive programming:

Mini Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Mini Competitive Jazz and Mini Invitational Ballet. Mini Competitive Tap is strongly recommended.

Junior Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Junior Competitive Jazz (x2) and Junior Invitational Ballet (x2). Junior Competitive Tap is strongly recommended.

Pre-Intermediate Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Pre-Intermediate Competitive Jazz (x2), and Pre-Intermediate Invitational Ballet (x2). Pre-Intermediate Competitive Tap is strongly recommended

Intermediate Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Intermediate Competitive Jazz (x2), Intermediate Invitational Ballet, Intermediate Invitational Ballet & Pointe, and Intermediate Competitive Lyrical/Contemporary. Intermediate Competitive Tap, and Intermediate/Advanced Pointe (if invited), are strongly recommended

Elementary Competitive Classes - Dancers must register for either Elementary Competitive Jazz and/or Elementary Competitive Lyrical/Contemporary Dancers choosing to compete in just one of these disciplines must also register for an additional jazz, lyrical/contemporary, or ballet class. A ballet class is strongly recommended.

Intermediate/Advanced Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Intermediate/Advanced Competitive Jazz (x2), Intermediate/Advanced Invitational Ballet (x2), and Intermediate/Advanced Competitive Lyrical/Contemporary Intermediate/Advanced Competitive Tap, and Intermediate/Advanced Pointe (if invited), are strongly recommended *Within the Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary disciplines, this level will compete three (3) mandatory routines Some choreography may be set outside of regular class times

Senior Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Senior Competitive Jazz (x2), Senior Invitational Ballet, and Senior Competitive Lyrical/Contemporary If dancers cannot commit to this more full time program, they will have the option to join the Elementary Competitive Classes instead

Advanced 1 Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Advanced 1 Competitive Jazz, Advanced 1/2 Competitive Jazz, Advanced 1 Invitational Ballet, Advanced 1/2 Invitational Ballet Advanced 1 Contemporary. Advanced 1/2 Invitational Pointe is strongly recommended, if invited. *Within the Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary disciplines, this level will compete three (3) mandatory routines Some choreography may be set outside of regular class times

Advanced 2 Competitive Program - Dancers must register for Advanced 2 Competitive Jazz, Advanced 1/2 Competitive Jazz, Advanced 2 Invitational Ballet, Advanced 1/2 Invitational Ballet, Advanced 2 Contemporary. Advanced Invitational Pointe is strongly recommended, if invited. *Within the Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary disciplines, this level will compete three (3) mandatory routines Some choreography may be set outside of regular class times

Competitive Tap and Hip Hop - Dancers must register for an additional dance class

Intermediate/Advanced 2 Competitive Hip Hop, Advanced Senior Competitive Hip Hop must take both classes of that level Advanced 1 Competitive Hip Hop must also take Advanced 2 Competitive Hip Hop

Competitive Musical Theatre - Dancers must also register for a jazz class

Commitment

If you feel that you and your child are interested in enrolling in their assigned class(es), we want to be very certain that you are prepared to make a team commitment. Everyone gets sick from time to time or has conflicts with other activities However, if you find these conflicts will interfere with this program or any of the competitions/recitals please let us know and we will recommend an alternate class for your child to attend.

Attendance

Attendance is mandatory at all rehearsals and performances

Director's approval is required to miss classes within 2 weeks prior to any competition or performance. A student will be allowed no more than 3 absences per year for a once a week class and no more than 5 absences a year for a twice a week class.

Students must be fully participating in the last 2 weeks of classes leading up to a performance (ie should they be injured prior to a performance etc)

When we all are involved in a team effort, whether it is at work or school, the team benefits or suffers by the work ethic and commitment of every single individual on that team. If we find that any student has missed too many classes without a valid reason (ie serious illness) then we will reserve the right to remove them from the group and where possible moved to another class.

We trust that you will consider what we are requiring very carefully If your child is not capable of committing their attendance to this class then it is unfair to those students who come to each and every class

Code of Conduct

Parents/Guardians

Parents/guardians and spectators at the studio and events will:

● Encourage dancers to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence

● Condemn the use of violence in any form

● Never ridicule a participant for making a mistake during a competition or practice

● Respect the decisions and judgments of the judges, and encourage dancers to do the same

● Support all efforts to stop and prevent verbal and physical abuse, coercion, intimidation, and sarcasm

● Respect and show appreciation to all competitors, and to all studios

● Never harass competitors, teachers, assistants, parents/guardians, or other spectators

Dancers

Dancers are expected to:

● Respect Others: Treat all teammates fairly and kindly, regardless of ability, background, gender, or race

● Avoid Exclusion: Refrain from deliberately alienating, isolating, or socially excluding teammates

● No Harassment: Never participate in any humiliating, degrading, or abusive behavior toward teammates (include name calling, damaging personal property)

● Report Misconduct: Speak up when something makes you or someone else feel unsafe

At Kickit Dance Studio we believe in open communication and trust we continue to work together to provide a safe and caring environment for all our dancers

PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT

I will commit to having my dancer attend classes regularly and make sure they are available for the above competitions and the annual recitals I have not and will not sign my child up for any program in or out of town (e.g. band trip, family trip) or events that occur or may occur in March, April, May or June without prior approval.

I understand that Kickit Dance Studio reserves the right to re-stage or replace any student who is frequently not in attendance, injured, or ill for extended periods of time

I have read and understand the information outlined in this agreement and letter dated June 2026; including the commitment level required and the fees that will be due as a competitive student.

STUDENT AGREEMENT

I, understand that I have been asked to participate in the above noted competitions and recital. I am prepared to work as hard as I can and do my best in every class and at every rehearsal I also agree to show my teachers and fellow students my best behavior and respect at all times I will do my best to learn what I have missed on my own from other students before returning to class after an absence, injury, or illness.

I understand I am making a commitment to my group and myself to attend my classes and performances This may result in not being able to participate in a program in or out of town (ie: band trips, school trips, etc) that may occur during competition and recital season

I understand that Kickit Dance Studio reserves the right to re-stage or replace/remove any student who is frequently not in attendance, injured, or ill for extended periods of time

I will do my best to honor and keep my commitment as outlined in the agreement and letter dated June 2026
