Arar’s Public Library The Eternal Core Modern Villa Royal Mall’s Elevation
“Arar’s Public Library” is more than just a library—it is a “ cultural and social landmark” designed to redefine the way people interact with knowledge and public spaces. Named after Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal (Arar), one of Jordan’s most celebrated poets, this project embodies the spirit of **creativity, intellectual freedom, and community engagement**.
Located in the “heart of Jabal Al-Weibdeh, Amman”, the site is deeply rooted in a “rich artistic and historical context”, yet it lacks an inclusive public space that fosters knowledge-sharing beyond traditional book-reading. Inspired by “Ray Oldenburg’s “Third Place” concept”, the design envisions a “vibrant, interactive, and multi-functional public library”—a place where people can learn, create, discuss, and connect.
This project challenges the conventional perception of libraries by incorporating diverse knowledge spaces, including interactive social areas, creative studios, digital learning zones, and serene reading environments. Through an innovative architectural approach, the design seamlessly integrates with the site’s topography, cultural surroundings, and community needs, creating a space that is welcoming, sustainable, and future-oriented.
site analysis
The selected site for the project is located in Jabal Al-Weibdeh, Amman, Jordan, a historically and culturally rich area known for its artistic community, cultural institutions, and diverse social fabric. This site was chosen based on a detailed evaluation of accessibility, cultural relevance, topography, and potential for urban transformation.
Key Considerations:
Strengths: The site is well-connected, has cultural significance, and is surrounded by educational institutions.
Challenges: The site’s topography and noise levels from nearby roads pose design constraints. Opportunities: Integration with Arar’s Staircase, natural landscape utilization, and enhancing community interaction.
Located in Jabal Al-Weibdeh, Amman, the site sits between cultural and social hubs yet remains underutilized. Surrounded by key landmarks like the National Museum of Fine Arts and Arar’s Staircase, it is highly accessible via Prince Mohammed Street, Arar Street, and Al-Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal Street, with nearby public transit options. Positioned in a valley between two active urban areas, the site presents an opportunity to transform this overlooked space into a cultural and educational hub.
solid
The site’s spatial and contextual characteristics play a key role in shaping Arar’s Public Library. With 67% of the area built and only 33% open, public spaces are scarce, reinforcing the need for a community-focused project that enhances accessibility and engagement within the neighborhood.
The land use analysis positions the site between Jabal Al-Weibdeh’s cultural hubs and Jabal Amman’s social spaces, yet the valley remains largely commercial and lacks communal areas. This presents an opportunity to establish the library as a connector for culture, education, and social interaction.
Rich vegetation, especially orange trees iconic to Jabal Al-Weibdeh, allows for natural integration into the design. The 24-meter elevation difference requires multi-level zoning and terracing, ensuring accessibility and maximizing panoramic city views.
These factors shape Arar’s Public Library as a cultural and social bridge within the urban fabric.

Concept Statement
“Redefining the public library from a space for books to a vibrant social hub where people can create, interact, learn, and engage with knowledge in all its forms.”
The project redefines the role of public libraries beyond book storage, transforming them into social and creative hubs. Inspired by Ray Oldenburg’s “Third Place” concept, the library will serve as a community gathering space that fosters interaction, creativity, learning, and relaxation.
Key Design Strategies:
Programmatic Approach:
Dividing the library into five major zones: Interactive, Creative, Learning, Reading, and Relaxation Zones. Providing spaces for events, social interactions, art creation, digital learning, and meditation.
Architectural Approach:
Linear spatial organization to create dynamic and connected spaces.
Gradient zoning from loud and interactive areas to quiet and reflective spaces.
Integration with the site’s topography through multi-level structuring.
Structural & Circulation Planning:
Steel and reinforced concrete (RC) framing for flexibility.
Three vertical circulation cores and wide staircases to enhance connectivity.
This project envisions a transformational shift in the public library typology, where libraries are no longer static book repositories but dynamic third places for community interaction, creativity, and lifelong learning.
By integrating social engagement, modern technology, and sustainability, this library aims to:
1- Encourage collaborative knowledge-sharing.
2- Provide accessible learning spaces for all age groups.
3- Revitalize Amman’s urban landscape by adding an iconic, community-driven cultural landmark.
THE ETERNAL CORE
House of the Future Competition Entry
ARCHITECT & DESIGNER - September 2023 - November 2023
Location: UAE
This project redefines the very essence of housing, shifting it from a static structure to a dynamic product that can respond, adapt, and adjust itself in response to changing needs and desires of its inhabitants, both in the present and future.
concept:
The project is composed of two main parts: an on site Central unit (core) that’s conventionally structured, and 3 prefabricated, adjustable modular systems, each serves certain functions of the house.
The central unit within this architectural project serves as the vital spine that intricately links and harmonizes the various components of the house into a unified whole. Functioning as a unifying element, it seamlessly integrates the house with the broader urban grid. It provides fixed circulation and structural support on a micro scale, while serving as a permanent infrastructure link to the larger compound and the entire city on a macro scale. This dual functionality underscores its pivotal role in the design, offering cohesion and functionality.
1- Positioning the central unit on the single lot.
2- Adding the joints where the modules are going to be connected to the central unit.
3- Mirroring the central unit onto the adjacent lot to create a one attached central unit.
4- Repeating the same process to create a compound.
the kit:
The Kit offers different and various scenarios for how the modules are going to act and function on each level as it offers an expandable options for futuristic events. Furthermore, It offers a versatile solution that allows individuals to tailor their homes to meet their unique needs, whether those needs are financial, social, or driven by personal preferences.
the prototypes:
These prototypes represents the different scenario that The kit can offer for different families. it also shows how much expandability can the villa take in response to futuristic events.
1st Architctural Project
ARCHITECT & DESIGNER - September 2019 - January 2020
Location: Al-Jubeiha - Amman/Jordan
The villa presents a harmonious blend of minimalism and sophistication, crafted with a focus on both form and function. As you approach, the villa greets you with a broad, welcoming platform that feels almost like an embrace. This expansive entry invites a slow, considered approach, as though preparing you for the elegance that lies within.
concept:
This villa is designed to feel like home in every sense—where modern simplicity meets the warmth of Jordanian traditions. It carefully balances privacy and openness, ensuring spaces flow naturally from shared areas to private retreats, so family members stay connected while still having their own space.
It’s a place for gathering and belonging, where cultural values shape the layout. Thoughtfully arranged spaces respect privacy while keeping life’s moments at the heart of the home. By blending tradition with contemporary design, the villa offers a timeless, welcoming environment for it’s dwellers.
the elevations:
The villa’s elevation is characterized by a clean, modern and minimal design. The primary material used is rose-colored concrete, creating a unified and robust exterior. The windows are made of black, double-glazed glass, offering durability and energy efficiency while providing a sharp contrast to the concrete. This combination of materials ensures a dynamic yet minimal aesthetic, with a clear emphasis on the practical integration of structure and design. The overall approach is straightforward, with a focus on simplicity and a strong architectural presence.
The villa unfolds in layers, each level offering a new experience for the senses. The open concept plan allows light to travel freely, creating a sense of boundless space.
The living spaces are arranged in a way that feels both intimate and open, with minimal walls and barriers, emphasizing a free-flowing design that encourages movement and connection.
Each level of the villa is designed to provide a different perspective and expresses different privacy function, a distinct rhythm to the experience of walking through the home. As you move from one floor to the next, you’re offered a fresh view, a new angle, giving each floor it’s identity and specialness. This multilevel layout transforms the villa from a static residence into an active, engaging space that encourages exploration.
A striking feature of the villa is the central atrium, a vertical void that stretches from the ground floor up to the second level. This atrium acts as the heart of the home, a shaft of light that draws the eye upward and bathes the surrounding spaces in a warm, natural glow. It serves as a quiet reminder of the villa’s openness, creating an interplay of light and shadow that changes throughout the day.
