The Shaw wishes to acknowledge and honour the land upon which we gather as the historic and traditional territory of First Nations Peoples. In particular, we recognize and thank the Neutral Nation, the Mississauga and the Haudenosaunee for their stewardship of these lands over millennia. We also wish to thank all of the First Nations Peoples in Canada, and the Indigenous Peoples of the United States, for their ongoing and important roles in the caretaking of the lands beneath our feet.

“This season celebrates theatre itself –illusion, disguise, performance – and all the ways that we delight, mislead, amaze and seduce each other. Life is a theatre, and theatre is life.”
– Artistic Director, Tim Carroll
The Shaw is in the middle of its most exciting transformation in 50 years. Soon, we will have a brand new Artists’ Village; shortly after that, we will have a new Royal George Theatre. All these projects are designed to help us become a centre where the incredible performances on our stages will inspire everyone to rediscover their inner artist.
Of course, for that to happen, we need to make sure that our performances are incredible. Our last few seasons have set the bar pretty high: the standard of acting, design, direction and staging in our shows is routinely referred to as world-class. We know, because you tell us, how proud you are to be Team Shaw.
This season, we want all of you—every member of Team Shaw—to come to every single show. Don’t just come to the ones you’ve heard of; see ‘em all. You won’t regret it.
Kimberley Rampersad Associate Artistic Director
It’s going to be a tremendous 2026 Season, as we look forward to the opening of the Shaw Artists’ Village and Community Engagement, Outreach and Education’s new home: the Burton Centre for Lifelong Creativity. We're thrilled to have a space for patrons, artists and thinkers to connect, collaborate, experiment and learn. The brand new labs, studios, meeting rooms and common spaces will host an array of vibrant programming — all designed to support and inspire your creative journey.
Dig in and be curious! Take a tour of the new Wardrobe department at the Village. Attend a lecture on the play you’re about to see. Be brave and try an improv workshop. Sing along with us! The benefits are immense. As we ramp up, there will be offerings added, so look to shawfest.com for full descriptions and details.
Welcome to your new centre for creativity, community and connection. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Antonio Salieri is a pious, conscientious man—and the greatest composer in the Austrian Empire. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a young, foolish show-off—and apparently no threat. Except that Salieri can hear what no one else can: this ridiculous boy is perhaps the greatest musical genius ever to have lived. How can God have played such a trick on Salieri? To reward his devotion by rubbing his nose in his own mediocrity? There is only one possible revenge: God’s beloved, Amadeus, must be destroyed. This story of genius and the price it extracts is one of the greatest and most ravishing experiences in theatrical history.

We are thrilled to announce the premiere of a new workshop presentation from 2025 Pulitzer and Tony award-winning playwright, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Following our memorable productions of his plays An Octoroon (2017) and Everybody (2022), we asked Branden to come and make a new work with our Shaw Ensemble. This workshop presentation, from one of the world’s leading playwrights, will have a limited run of presentations. See it before anyone else does!
“It’s an incredible coup for The Shaw to have Branden come to create with us. Anyone who saw An Octoroon in 2017, or Everybody a couple of years ago, will be as thrilled as I am that Shaw has managed to attract perhaps the hottest playwright in the world.”

The Shaw’s Campaign for Real Human Connection.
There is an artist inside each of us. It is the essence of our shared humanity. But the world today has our heads down and our minds distracted. We are losing the ability to talk to each other, to look each other in the eye, to find solutions together.
We believe it’s time to change that. And that’s why we are launching the most ambitious campaign in the Shaw Festival’s history.
All.Together.Now.
This campaign will transform The Shaw into a buzzing campus of connection, creativity and curiosity. A home for all those who wish to put down their phones and remember that they are alive. A campaign to create the new Shaw Artists’ Village and Burton Centre for Lifelong Creativity and to rebuild our iconic Royal George Theatre. A campaign for real human connection. We will raise $150 million to achieve this bold vision. All.Together.Now. will focus on four key areas: experiences, training, artists and community, supported by enhanced and expanded spaces at the Festival and Downtown Campuses.

Special Event: Theatre of Medicine
September 25-27
“ What makes a good doctor? Empathy, listening, but more importantly listening to what is not being said.” - Angus Pratt, patient advocate
Welcome to the Theatre of Medicine, co-created by The Shaw and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, that teaches essential skills like these through techniques found in the performing arts.
Theatre of Medicine is a certified continuing professional development (CPD) program, accredited through the University of Toronto’s Temerty School of Medicine. There are half-day and full-day workshop options available, as well as a full-weekend congress in September.
So often these skills are overlooked or part of hidden curriculum in medical education and yet they are essential for effective patient engagement and overall physician wellbeing. They can be taught, learned, and, with practice, become second nature — as part of a whole-system of medical practice.

“Progress is impossible without change; and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
– Bernard Shaw
Change is certainly afoot here at The Shaw.
From the return to our original home at the Court House Theatre, while the Royal George Theatre is being rebuilt, to the opening of our new Artists’ Village and the Burton Centre for Lifelong Creativity and all the new programming those spaces will host, we are in the midst of great change everywhere we look. Yet we are also, at our core, a theatre that has always responded to our times and so we grow and shift to meet the needs of an ever-evolving audience. The basic human need to gather and connect through the sharing of stories must, and will, continue. How people experience that art will change, because progress, whether social, societal or personal, demands that of us. For the whole of the live arts industry, the one conviction we share is that live experiences are paramount to a coherent civilization. That need has certainly articulated itself dramatically (see what I did there) over the last few years.
We know that live conversations, arguments and respectful disagreements are the elements that enable civilization to build and endure. We know that shared stories bring shared empathy. We are proud of the role art can play in provoking and embracing those ideas. Our 2026 Season will bring people together around an amazing array of productions that we hope can do just that.
So many of you have asked for more information about our ALL.TOGETHER.NOW. campaign for real human connection and the capital projects that are a part of it (the rebuilding of the Royal George Theatre, the Shaw Artists’ Village, updates to the Festival Theatre, etc). We are thrilled with the response so far and if you want to learn more, please scan the QR code below.
As one of the last large repertory theatre companies in the world, ticket sales only cover less than half of our annual operating expenses and costs continue to rise rapidly. We are more reliant than ever on philanthropic investment to ensure equitable access for everyone to be able to attend the arts and to keep this kind of rare repertory model going. Whether you are one of our cherished long-time donors, corporate partners, or a recent Friend, we invite you to consider increasing your support if you can. Every dollar invested allows us to give more people, young and old, the chance to connect to the world through art.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you very soon!
