The North-Central Elks District once again raised money to send wheelchair veterans to the parolympics in Detroit July 9 to 14. The Cedar Grove Elks donated $1,000; the West Orange Elks donated $200; Kearny-Belleville donated $500; VAVS Rep James Walsh for the EO Hospital donated $200 and PDD Marguerite Aisenstock donated $500 The Maplewood Memorial Post 10120 VFW donated $3,000 to the Veterans who participated in bowling, air rifle, weightlifting, bench pressing and other games. The team won eight gold medals, six silver and two bronze. Money raised helped to cover airfare, rooms and meal, as well as leather gloves for the team.
