Homestead Angus Welcome

Welcome to our 2026 offering of Purebred Black Angus Yearling Bulls. This time of year is always a rewarding one for our family, as it gives us the opportunity to showcase the results of another year spent building a program focused on practical, dependable cattle. Our bulls are ranch raised in hardgrass country where cattle must earn their keep. Here, water and grazing are often miles apart, and cattle must travel to thrive. In this kind of country, sound feet, structural integrity, and natural performance are not just desirable traits—they are necessities. The bulls we present to you are developed with this reality in mind and built to work in real-world conditions.

After several challenging years of drought, this past season finally brought some welcome relief. Dugouts filled, grass returned to the pastures, and we were fortunate to harvest enough hay, silage, and barley to carry our herd comfortably through the winter. With renewed optimism, we were also able to strengthen our cow herd this fall by adding several quality females as we continue rebuilding and improving the foundation of our program.

Our cow herd remains the cornerstone of everything we do. Females are selected and retained based on proven maternal bloodlines, calving ease, milking abilities, and strong foot structure—traits that ensure longevity and consistency in the herd. While the winter months brought their share of fluctuating temperatures, the bulls continued to develop steadily and perform well. Their growth, structure, and uniformity have made this a pen we are particularly proud of. Although not registered, the bulls are purebred Black Angus and we know their strong lineage. As always, our bulls are selected for performance, structural soundness, strong feet, and quiet, workable dispositions.

We are incredibly grateful for the customers who support our program year after year. Many of you have been with us since our very first bull crop twelve years ago, and your continued confidence means the world to our family. Those long-standing relationships are something we value deeply. Our goal has always been to provide reliable, hard-working bulls that deliver calving ease and dependable performance in commercial operations. To our returning customers, thank you for your loyalty and trust - this tells us that our bulls are doing the job they were meant to do. To those considering our program for the first time, we sincerely appreciate your interest and welcome the opportunity to discuss what you are looking for in your next herd sire.

We invite you to join us for some Homestead Hospitality at our OPEN HOUSE on THURSDAY, April 16 anytime after 2 pm, where the bulls will be available for viewing alongside the offerings from our partners at Elliott Bros and Drop Anchor Cattle Co. Darcy and Chance work alongside our family to bring an even stronger group of cattle together each year, and it is always a pleasure to prepare for the sale together.

Our sixth DLMS FARMGATE SALE will open Saturday, April 18 and conclude with a racehorse-style finish on Sunday, April 19 at 6:00 PM. If you are unable to attend the open house, we encourage you to stop by the farm over the weekend to view the bulls while the sale is running. Visitors are always welcome—whether to walk through the bull pen, tour the cow herd, or simply enjoy a coffee, or perhaps a beer, with Calvin. We look forward to seeing you.

Elliott Bros

Hello and welcome. I would like to start off and say THANKS to the team at Homestead Angus for allowing me to participate - it’s an honor. Lots of hardwork goes into making this happen, from clipping bulls to setting up thepicture pen, to getting them ready, picture day, from lunch to late night suppers and fresh buns. THANK YOU. We’ve brought a good selection of bulls this year, three different sire groups to choose from. Lots of calving ease bulls this year, The Natural laws 12H, Standard Hill Flint 21L and Cudlobe Monumental bull - all have something different to offer. The yearlings have done well down at the bull test, and many are over 4lbs a day. The yearlings in the sale get a shorter test period but I feel it’s important to get the data off these guys. These are the last year of the Natural Laws (2 year olds) so if you’re looking to retain heifers, he’s your man.

Going forward we have some exciting things coming down the pipeline, Our New bull Avelyn Angus Mr Macho 231M, a Showtime son, has not disappointed. Great set of feet, calving ease and length, udder improver, he’s a complete package, I also Purchased a Baldridge Badger Daughter From Sprucefield Farms at the annual Northern Select Sale. Nikki 19N a beautiful big bodied heifer that will probably make her way to the flush pen. She’s my new pet. We also have a couple Bar-E-L Erica 74A/Renown daughters running around so it’s exciting to see what they can do. We also have a few Merit Investment daughters off Kuebers Rosebud 6H that will go into production next year so I’m really looking forward to seeing that mating work.

On the farm side of life Dionne and I continue to stay busy. Some new equipment has made life a tad easier and we continue to look for ways to be more efficient. Mom and Dad are still super involved as the feed team during the week; in fact just last week we had a cow calving at 5:30 am and who got the call to help? Donald, thank you for all you do. Thanks Dionne and Tricia for being there to help separate cows or move bulls around or the little things that need done all year; your help does not go unnoticed. I would like to thank Kirby James from Brownfield. This young man came with me to help prep bulls and was a big help. This 9 year old young man certainly knows how to put a day’s work in and has a bright future in whatever he chooses to do. Finally I would like to thank all the bidders and buyers and people that have shown interest in our Program. Quick shout out to Jordan Gibson of Everblack Angus for Purchasing DDD Rosebud 1M and Davidson Angus of Sedgwick Blaine Davidson for purchasing DDD Cassie 6M at the Ladies of the West sale in December. Take care.

Nico a well put together heifer bull , Donald picked up a moderate KR Strom daughter at Crescent Creek and she had done a bang up job on Nico.

This guy lit up the test, his mom a beautiful Brooking Banknote Daughter.

Nero is a slight larger frame with excellent caving ease built into his pedigree, a product of our Flint bull who was lights out in that department, the dam 925L is a grand daughter to the Kueber dispersal high seller, Nero also did well in the test.

19M is a beautiful heifer bull or cow option I would keep all the females I can off him, the Natural laws at our place are loved, we used 12H on heifers and cows with great success, consistent cattle.

Hello everyone,

Drop Anchor Cattle Co.

I am extremely excited to see cattle prices remain strong and be a part of the industry at this historic time as cattle prices continue to break records. With this year’s sale being my second time consigning and selling bulls, I am proud to offer two of the strongest bulls to date since starting in 2021. Since starting in the purebred business, I have focused on selecting cows that are easy keeping in ranch conditions. Along with my two bulls, this is an exceptional offering from both Homestead Angus and Elliot Bros. that they should be extremely proud of. I would like to thank both operations for allowing me to work alongside them on this sale. I would also like to thank my parents, Cody and Joleen Scott, along with my brother, Colby Scott, for the support they have given me the past few years while I have been chasing the dream of developing and operating my seed stock operation; without them, it would have not been possible.

If you have any questions about the bulls, please don’t hesitate to give me a call at 403-854-1455 or come out to the open house April 16 to enjoy some hospitality and evaluate some outstanding bulls.

Thanks,

Drop Anchor Angus Cattle Co.

Although his ears got a touch of frost his muscle and size of frame will add pounds to your cows calves to ring the bell with when it comes time to sell
