A Note from Dan Walker – Your General Manager
Greetings from Nemadji GC!
Even though it’s been cold outside, it’s been nice and warm at the Nemadji clubhouse. Our Indoor Simulators are open seven days a week, along with the Greens View Grille. We’ve also been lucky to have the snowmobile connector trail open, allowing you to ride your sleds right to the Greens View Grille parking lot.
Snowmobile riders receive ½ off appetizers and buy one, get one free on your first drink, so stop in and warm up with us!
While we anxiously await springtime, our team has been busy planning for the upcoming golf season. We’ll be meeting with the Men’s and Women’s Club Boards soon to finalize golf leagues and events for 2026. Be sure to keep an eye on our website for updates on this season’s activities.
2026 Season Passes are now available for purchase!
If you purchase your season pass before April 1st, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Driving Range Pass. It’s a great way to save for the season ahead and get a jump start on your golf year at Nemadji.
In addition, 2026 Men’s Club Cards are now available for purchase. If you plan on participating in Men’s Club events/leagues this season, be sure to get your card early. We are also excited to announce that Nemadji GC will be hosting a Drive, Chip & Putt Local Qualifier on Friday, July 10th. Registration is now open at www.drivechipandputt.com. This event is FREE to enter and gives junior golfers the opportunity to compete for a chance to win a trip to the famed Augusta National Golf Club.
New merchandise will be arriving shortly, and we’ll be refreshing the Pro Shop with the latest arrivals from Under Armour, FootJoy, Antigua, TaylorMade, Callaway, Srixon, Titleist, and more. Stop in soon to check out what’s new for the season.

If you plan on attending, please make sure you have a time reserved as we do not have additional room in the simulator to accommodate multiple people at one time.

Hi all, thanks for tuning back in for another monthly newsletter! We have been busy this month in the food and beverage department, both with simulator leagues and some private bookings of the space!
DID YOU KNOW: Nemadji offers private party bookings during the off season, and the space can be used in multiple ways! Whether you'd like to host a birthday event utilizing the golf simulators to get your golf-loving group together, a viewing party with one or two HUGE screens to watch a big game, or a meeting space for organizations to accomplish company or business oriented tasks, WE have got you covered.
A full-service bar with either plated or buffet style full-service meals will impress your guests and leave them wondering when the next "Nemadji Party" is! With the space rental starting at just $60/hour for the clubhouse, make Nemadji's Greens View Grille your choice for your next event!

Superintendent Update

Welcome to February. The days are getting longer, and with every 40degree day, I’m sure golf clubs are being dusted off and prepped for the spring season. I would like to share a few questions that I hear over the winter from a Superintendent’s point of view.
Q – What does a Golf Course Superintendent do during the winter when there is no turf to maintain?
A – The winter months at Nemadji serve many purposes. Our mechanic is busy preparing all the equipment and golf carts for the upcoming season. From a superintendent’s standpoint, I use this time to study, learn, and plan learning what’s new in the industry, reviewing what did and did not work on the golf course in previous years, and setting up a plan of attack on how we can continue to improve your experience at Nemadji year after year.
This is also the time of year when staff reviews are completed, and we begin building our maintenance crew for next season.
Q – With it being almost 40 degrees outside, do you think we will be able to open the golf course soon?
A – The quick and easy answer is no.
Over the last six years that I have been here full-time and tracked our opening and closing dates, the average opening date is right around April 21st. We have, however, had our driving range open in March each of the last three seasons only to get more snow the week after it opens.
I have been working or golfing at Nemadji for the past forty years, and I only remember golfing in March one time. So take advantage of the Nemadji Simulators to keep that swing fresh, and remember we are about two months away from green grass and outdoor golf.

Q – Is there anything new planned for Nemadji in 2026?
A – We do have a few things in the works for the upcoming season. Come back in March, and I will have more information on what is happening around the golf course in the coming season.
On a final note, I would like to personally thank all my maintenance staff and the entire team at Nemadji for making my first year as Superintendent as good as it was.
On a staffing note, if you know anyone who enjoys working outside, enjoys golf, and likes early mornings, please have them reach out to me. We are always looking for new staff members to help keep the golf course running smoothly. In 2026, we are specifically seeking one to two staff members with an interest or background in gardening or landscaping to focus on our many ornamental areas around the golf course. Save The Date - Tuesday, April 28th. The Nemadji Women's Golf Club Annual Spring Banquet will be held on Tuesday, April 28th with Social Time @ 6:00 p.m., Dinner @ 6:30 p.m., and Meeting @ 7:00 p.m.
Details and Membership cards will be mailed in late March.

Lake Superior Ice Festival

Nemadji hosted our mini golf at Cap’N J’s Mini golf at the Lake Superior ice festival! We had over 120 players on Saturday and another 30 on Friday Night. We love seeing all the smiling faces ! and look forward to another year of golf coming soon!

Ocho is heartbroken about a photo finish for First Place, but silver isn't bad.. Thank you to everyone who voted in the Snowless Snowman Competition and all the hard work put into the Superior Ice Festival. Ocho won't melt and he will go through a rigorous training process over the summer and be back again next year!

We had over 90 participants in our palm swings competition and some great swings come through... and some not so great swings! We gave away some great prizes and want to thank everyone for coming out!

Blatnik Bridge Project
We know a ton of golfers make their way to Nemadji from Duluth and we want to keep you updated on the Blatnik Bridge Project scheduled to start in 2026. While we don’t foresee any interruption to the 2026 golf season, we will make sure to keep you updated with all the relevant information and alternate routes to the golf course The bridge is expected to be closed to traffic for four to five years; currently, the closure is anticipated to begin in 2027. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic in 2031.
Closing Thoughts
As we turn the page on February, the days are getting longer and you can feel the momentum building toward another great season at Nemadji. While winter still has its grip on us, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes planning events, preparing the golf course, refreshing menus at Greens View Grille, and continuing to find new ways to make your experience even better in 2026.
This time of year always reminds me how special this place is. Nemadji isn’t just a golf course it’s a community. From our simulator guests and winter leagues to those already asking about tee times, leagues, and tournaments, your support and enthusiasm never go unnoticed.
We’re excited about what’s ahead new events, returning traditions, and continued improvements across the property. If you haven’t already, keep an eye on your inbox and social channels as we roll out spring announcements and registration information. Thank you for being part of Nemadji.
