A message from our
Dear Members,
General Manager
August has come and gone, bringing us into September, the Labor Day holiday, and closing in on the final month of the official 2026 golf season. With an exciting upcoming month of golf, dining, and member experiences ahead, there is still plenty to look forward to at McHenry Golf Club. Thanks to the combination of summer temperatures and recent rainfall, course conditions remain in excellent shape, with the turf continuing to thrive. Club 22 continues to offer outstanding specials and daily à la carte dining, while the remaining golf events provide a great opportunity to finish the season on a high note. Golf Events Following our exciting Club Championship, we closed out the season with one of our most fun and distinctive events, “2 Jacks and a Jill.” This staple event pairs one Lady Member with two Gentlemen in a modified shamble format. Congratulations to Sue Overland, Jimmy Gosnell and Lars Overland, who capped off the season with an impressive fourth consecutive victory! We also congratulate our 2026 McHenry Golf Club Junior Club Champion, Rory Shay, who delivered an outstanding performance, posting rounds of 48 and 48 for a two-round total of 96 to claim the title. Congratulations, Rory! Be sure to register for our Couples Championship event, which is open for registration in Whoosh. Finally, we are wrapping up the season with the final Major Championship of the year — the Calcutta, scheduled for September 26th and 27th. This year's tournament features a reduced entry fee, restructured payouts and prizes, and even greater opportunities to cash in throughout the weekend. The biggest addition? McHenry Golf Club will contribute an additional $5,000 to the prize pool once we reach 18 teams, bringing the total purse to more than $25,000! We encourage everyone to register and take advantage of the outstanding events remaining on this year's golf calendar. Food & Beverage Updates While private banquets have continued to remain steady, Club 22 recently hosted its first Thursday Family Buffet Night. The event was a great success, and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, providing additional opportunities and different ways for our members to enjoy Club 22. Be sure to mark your calendars for upcoming social events, including our fall and holiday parties. More details will be sent soon. Membership Growth As we work toward the remainder of the season and begin looking ahead to 2027, we remain focused on growing both our Golf and Social Memberships. Be sure to pass along new membership promotions to friends and family as they become available. Word-of-mouth referrals continue to be one of our greatest strengths, and we encourage you to share your positive experiences at McHenry Golf Club with friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in becoming part of our club community. We look forward to celebrating the Labor Day Holiday with you and finishing the 2026 golf season on a high note. Play well, dine well, and enjoy! Warm regards, Rick Sutton, PGA General Manager / Head Professional McHenry Golf Club

UPCOMING EVENTS FOR THE FALL SEASON
Greg Osgood
FROM OUR MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING MANGER Dear Members,
August marked another strong month for membership growth, as we welcomed several new golf and social members to the Club. Our Member for a Day event on August 24 welcomed an intimate group of prospective members and proved to be a successful occasion. The event resulted in two new memberships while introducing guests to the exceptional experience and sense of community that distinguish McHenry Golf Club. As we move into fall, we are expanding our social programming and enhancing several signature events to offer members a more dynamic and engaging calendar. We look forward to a lively fall season filled with memorable experiences, meaningful connections and continued momentum throughout the Club!
Warm Regards, Greg Osgood Membership & Marketing Manager

SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE
FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT Dear Members,
Ben Ludwig
As we transition into fall, our maintenance team is beginning essential seasonal practices to improve soil structure, strengthen root growth and protect the turf through winter. While the weather remains warm, this work is vital to ensuring a healthy, high-quality course next spring. Over the coming weeks, our team will complete the following: Aeration: Creating small openings in the greens, tees and fairways to allow air, water and nutrients to reach the roots more effectively. Topdressing: Applying a light layer of sand to smooth playing surfaces and improve drainage. Overseeding: Introducing new seed to worn or thinning areas to encourage fuller turf growth before winter dormancy. Fertilization and Deep Watering: Providing essential nutrients and moisture to strengthen the root system before the ground freezes. What Members Can Expect Recovering Surfaces: Greens and fairways may initially appear sandy or slightly uneven as they recover. Healing Time: Playing surfaces typically require two to three weeks to recover following aeration. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as our team completes this important work. These seasonal practices are vital to protecting the long-term health, playability and beauty of the course.
Warm regards, Ben Ludwig Golf Course Superintendent

CHEF’S CORNER
MENU UPDATES AND UPCOMING SPECIALS
Lee Sonsky
FROM OUR CHEF Dear Members,
A sincere thank you from our entire culinary team and me. We truly appreciate the comments, feedback and ideas you have shared regarding our menus and culinary programming. Your input continues to help shape the direction of our offerings. We are preparing a refreshed menu and updated format, which will launch in mid- to late September. This new structure will allow us to introduce weekly and biweekly specials, giving us the flexibility to offer fresh and exciting options for both lunch and dinner while keeping the dining experience dynamic and engaging. We are also one month into our partnership with Living Roots Farm in Fox Lake through our lettuce program. I hope you are seeing—and tasting—the difference in quality and freshness. Thank you for a strong August at the Club. We look forward to serving you throughout September. Warm Regards, Ched Lee

MEMBER SERVICES
FALL UPDATES FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON
Keigan Mills
FROM OUR MEMBER SERVICES Dear Members,
As we move into fall, the course and practice facilities are in excellent condition, and this stretch of the season offers some of the best golf of the year. Below are a few key updates for September. Seasonal staffing naturally adjusts as students return to school and summer employees conclude their commitments. We are fortunate to have a strong core team in place for the fall, and we appreciate their continued dedication. While staffing may be lighter at certain times, our service standards will remain unchanged. The Halfway House will transition to a seasonal schedule. For the remainder of the season, it will be unattended Tuesday through Thursday. A self-service snack bar will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on these days. Please record all purchases in the Halfway House log so they can be charged to your account. Additional adjustments will be made as daylight hours and demand change. To help maintain the best possible hitting surface, please take divots in a linear pattern rather than creating scattered, individual divots. This practice supports more effective turf recovery and helps provide consistent conditions for all members. Looking ahead there is still plenty of golf to be played, and we appreciate your continued support of our facilities and staff. We look forward to a wonderful fall season at McHenry Golf.
Warm regards, Kiegan Mills
