Dear Members,
As we head into the heart of summer, July brings plenty to celebrate from our nation's 250th anniversary and warm summer weather to outstanding course conditions and an exciting lineup of events at McHenry Golf Club
Below are a few updates and highlights as we look ahead.
Golf Events
With record attendance for our Evans Scholars Day, the club solidified another great fund raiser benefiting the WGA and the Evans Scholars Program. Followed up by our Member-Member Event, we congratulate our Champions Tim Jacobs & Jimmy Spagna (Gross) and Rick Bender & John Romano (Net). Stellar play over four different formats provided for an exciting event. After closing out June, we turned our attention to the annual Fourth of July "Heaven & Hell" event, which provided a unique twist on Better Ball and Scramble Golf.
The second MGC major of the season is upon us with this year's Invitational expanding to eight flights and a field of 92 players, an increase of 20 competitors over last year The continued growth and enthusiasm surrounding our premier events is exciting to see and speaks to the strength of our membership
Looking ahead, registration is now open in Whoosh for both the Summer 9 & Dine and the Club Championship We encourage everyone to sign up early and take part in another great stretch of the golf season
Food & Beverage Updates
Club 22 continues to gain momentum through expanded menu offerings, private banquet events, and a growing Social Membership We're excited to introduce additional dining experiences in the coming weeks, including Sunday Brunch and our new Saturday Supper Club We look forward to sharing more details soon

Dear Members,
June marked my first full month at McHenry Golf Club, and I want to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. I have truly enjoyed meeting many of you and appreciate the time you have taken to introduce yourselves.
Membership Momentum
It was a strong month for Membership and Marketing as we continued welcoming new members and elevating the overall club experience.
Experience Highlights
Members have been particularly impressed with our course conditions. We continue to hear from both members and guests that area courses fall short of MGC’s overall conditioning, which speaks directly to the pride and consistency our grounds team brings to the property every day.
Digital Engagement
Our digital footprint has surged. Our social media following has grown from 199 to 469, and our content has generated more than 150,000 views. Eighty six percent of those views came from non‑followers, showing that our reach now extends well beyond our core membership base and is introducing MGC to a significantly wider audience.
What’s Ahead
Looking ahead, we will be hosting a Sunday Brunch - Open House on July 19th and a Member for a Day golf event on July 20th. Both events give us an excellent opportunity to showcase our Club and introduce prospective members to the environment our current members value so highly.

DININGMINIMUMINFO
As a courtesy to our members, we’re pleased to pro-rate the 2026 dining minimum requirement by $75 (Family) and $50 (Individual) for this season. Please note, the dining minimum may be applied toward food purchases only and has been retroactively tracking on your house account beginning April 2026.
At the close of the season, any remaining unspent portion of the dining minimum will be charged:
• Individual Memberships: $450 to be spent by 12/31/26
• Family Memberships: $675 to be spent by 12/31/26
Kindly note that we’re only able to track and honor purchases made through your house account.

A warm hello from your culinary and food and beverage team. Chef Jorge and I have been working behind the scenes to elevate your dining experience, with the goal of making McHenry Golf Club home to the best restaurant in McHenry County. We look forward to serving you throughout the remainder of the season and beyond.
The recent feedback has been incredible, especially around our Friday night features and supper club offerings. As we look ahead, we’re beginning a full redesign of the daily menu. This will allow us to introduce weekly dinner features, bring more variation to your dining options, and give our team the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills. We look forward to serving you for the remainder of 2026 and beyond.

SUPERINTENDENT’SUPDATE
Dear Members,
As we move through July, I wanted to provide an update on overall course conditions, our current maintenance priorities, and a recent fairway application issue that our grounds team is actively managing
Course Conditions
Overall, the golf course remains in good condition The greens, tees, and approaches are performing well, and our team continues to focus on providing consistent daily playing surfaces for the membership
July is one of the most demanding months of the season from a turf management standpoint. Heat, humidity, rainfall patterns, disease pressure, cart traffic, and daily play all place additional stress on the golf course Our goal this month is to balance strong playing conditions with sound turf care decisions that protect the long-term health of the course.
Fairway Application Update
I also want to address a recent fairway maintenance issue directly On June 23, during a routine plant protectant application on fairways, a commonly used herbicide was applied above the intended rate on portions of the fairway turf Once the issue was identified, mitigation efforts began immediately.
Our response has included irrigation to move the material off the plant surface, additional treatments and management practices intended to reduce herbicide activity in the soil, and adjustments to our normal fairway maintenance program to limit additional stress on the turf Fortunately, the weather immediately following the application was generally helpful, with cooler and wetter conditions supporting our recovery efforts
At this time, the general condition of the course remains good, but some fairway areas may show signs of stress or discoloration as we continue through the recovery period The full outcome will take time to evaluate, and we will continue monitoring the affected areas closely over the coming days and weeks.
What Members May Notice
Because of this event, members may notice some temporary changes to fairway maintenance during July, including:
Irrigation running during play in certain fairway areas when needed
Use of turf pigment or similar products to help reduce plant stress
Longer intervals between fairway mowing to reduce mechanical stress on the plant
Temporary cart traffic restrictions to roughs, paths, or designated routes where needed to protect affected turf.
These adjustments are being made to protect the turf and give the fairways the best opportunity to recover. The product involved is a standard turf management herbicide, and our response is being handled with golfer safety, environmental responsibility, and turf recovery in mind We will continue to follow appropriate label, safety, and agronomic guidance as we manage the situation
As always, we appreciate the patience and support of the membership. Summer maintenance often requires visible work on the course, including watering, mowing adjustments, traffic control, and occasional disruption These practices are intended to protect the long-term health of the golf course and preserve the quality of the playing surfaces.
