The Pork Osso Bucco from our Spring Menu brings together the nostalgic flavors of spring and summer. Tender pork osso buco is slow-braised, infused with white wine, and paired with a silky saffron risotto. Sweet roasted baby carrots provide a caramelized contrast, while a handful of wilted arugula brings a gentle peppery bite that keeps each forkful vibrant and fresh. Try this new dish while enjoying a cocktail on the back patio watchingthesunset.

We are gearing up for a very busy summer at Holly Hills! The Memorial Day Hilltop Celebration is on Saturday, May 23, and it is the perfect way to kick off summer. Come out to enjoy great food and drinks, games, magician, balloon artist, inflatable activities, and an impressive fireworks display to end the evening. The Memorial Day Pool Party is another great event to kick off the summer. Please join us to enjoy a poolside buffet with ice-cold drinks, DJ, and games.

We have been working hard at the pool getting it ready for the season. Turf improvements inside and outside of the pool area continued last fall and the pool area looks great. A new shade structure will be installed shortly, and we are adding soft seating to enhance the poolside experience. The pool sign in process will remain in place this summer. Members and guests will enter the pool through the gate on the snack bar side of the facility and will be greeted by a team member who will collect their information.

This spring the weather has been unusually dry for the second year in a row. Dan and his team have beenworkinghardtopreparethecourseforagreat season, and it is in fantastic shape. The irrigation system has been pressured up, and we are fine tuning everything before the summer heat arrives. I would like to thank everyone who attended our first Divot Filling Party. It was a great turnout and we filled divots on the entire front 9 while members enjoyed complimentary beverages and great conversation. I hope to see everyone at the next DivotPartyonJuly17.

The racquet facility is officially open, and we are excited to be teaming up with the Elite Tennis Academy this season. They will be offering group clinics and private lessons. We will continue to host Pickleball Socials throughout the summer. Please be sure to reserve your court using the Holly Hills App. We will continue to ramp up the racquet facilitytoimprovethememberexperience.

We are excited to share that Holly Hills has been named a winner in the Belocal Frederick Love AwardsastheLocallyLovedBestGolfCourse, forthe fourthyearinarow!Everydaywestrivetoprovide

As we kick off the season, we ask for your support withthefollowing:

1. Bringing alcoholic beverages onto Club premises by any member or guest is a violation of the Club’s liquor license. Strict disciplinary action will be taken ifamemberorguestviolatesthispolicy.

2. Personal coolers are not permitted at the Club at anytime.

3. Locker Room towels must remain in the locker rooms.Pleaseplacetheminthehamperafteruse.

4. Please be sure to leave the black golf cart towels inyourgolfcartafteryourround.

5. Please be sure to follow our Dress Code Policies outlinedinourRules&Customs

This is the perfect time to refer a friend to join the Club. We have a great referral program called the Champions of Growth. Referral awards include guest passes, an invitation to the year-end grand celebration and the opportunity to win 6 months freeduesintheyearendraffle.Asyouseenewfaces around the Club, please be sure to welcome them to the Holly Hills Family. SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE

THE SPRING FLUSH: NEW EQUIPMENT AND FRESH FAIRWAYS

Spring has arrived and the golf course has come to life! This time of year is extremely busy for our team because the grass begins to grow so fast that we have a tough time keeping up with all the mowing and trimming on the property. In addition to the "spring flush of growth”, we are also busy completing tasks such as rolling greens, changing cups, fixing ballmarks, and filling divots, along with a variety of otherdetailitems.

We completed greens aeration at the end of March, and the greens have healed nicely and are rolling very smooth. During this process, we removed organic matter from the greens using 3/8” diameter coring tines. This was followed by adding sand and brushing it into the open holes. This process is vital for removing thatch, reducing soil compaction, keeping the greens firm and improving infiltration ratesinthetopthreeinchesofthesoilprofile.

Projects that were delayed by the winter snow are finally coming to completion, as we remove the remaining straw that protected the new seed on #7 and #10 rough, as well as the clubhouse parking lot. We were also able to finish sod work in many areas, such as along the new cartpath on #2 and along the tenniscourts.

As the weather warms up, we will begin making fertilizer applications in turf areas that need the extra nutrients, and we will be applying our spring preemergent on all surfaces. Our pre-emergent herbicide will prevent summer annual weeds such as crabgrass and goosegrass from germinating. Some products that we use will have fertilizer and preemergent on the same granular product; however, most of our products are applied through our sprayers because it is the most accurate application method.

Having good quality equipment for our department isjustasimportantashavingqualitystaff.Thisspring we will be using a new bunker machine that is vastly superior to our bunker machines used here in the past. With this new rake, we are already seeing a huge improvement in the smoothness of our bunkers. We also have purchased a Ventrac machine thatwillbemowingournativeareas.TheVentraccan climb all our hills and mow through difficult terrain with ease, and you may have already seen it out on thecourse.

As the course is getting into very busy times, please remember to fix your ballmarks and rake your bunkers. Most importantly, have a great time andIhopetoseeyouonthecourse!
