THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC UTVS HAS ARRIVED
The potential benefits of electric utility vehicles have long been discussed in agricultural circles, yet for many operators the reality has fallen short of expectations.
Concerns around range, durability and outright capability have kept diesel and petrol machines firmly in use across the UK. That is beginning to change. As pressure grows on businesses to reduce emissions, control costs and operate more sustainably, manufacturers are introducing machines that feel less like a compromise and more like a genuine alternative. The arrival of the CFMOTO UFORCE EVU6 Commercial reflects that shift.
The EVU6 is aimed at the dayto-day demands faced by farmers, estate managers and contractors. Whether transporting tools, moving materials or covering ground efficiently, it positions itself as a working vehicle. At its core is a permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering instant torque and smooth, consistent power. That means responsive pulling power and dependable performance across uneven or soft terrain.
Where the EVU6 stands apart is its refinement. Near-silent operation and zero emissions allow for new ways of working, particularly in environments where noise matters. Early morning livestock checks,
maintenance in conservation areas, or work on mixed-use estates can now be carried out with far less disturbance. The ability to move around without constant engine noise can change how and when tasks are completed.
In terms of performance, the EVU6 holds its own. With 35kW of peak power and 74Nm of torque, it has the capability for towing, hauling and general utility work. A top speed of 80 km/h allows for efficient travel across sites. A range of over 60 miles, depending on conditions, is sufficient for most working days.
Electric battery technology has progressed. The EVU6 features a
lithium battery system designed for consistent performance across varying temperatures – an important consideration in UK conditions. An integrated battery management system monitors output and temperature, helping to maintain efficiency and protect long-term battery health. The waterproofing and fire-resistant design support durability in demanding environments.
An 800kg towing capacity and 250kg cargo bed align it with many conventional UTVs. Selectable 2WD/4WD and a differential lock provide traction on wet grass, muddy tracks or loose ground. Its compact design makes it suitable for tighter spaces around yards, buildings and woodland, while still offering the ground clearance expected of a UTV.
Running costs are a major appeal of electric machines. With fewer moving parts, maintenance requirements are reduced, which means less downtime and lower servicing costs. Electricity also tends to be cheaper than fuel, particularly where vehicles are charged on-site, offering potential long-term savings.
Machines like the UFORCE EVU6 suggest the gap between expectation and performance is narrowing. Rather than asking operators to adapt, it presents itself as a capable tool that simply happens to be electric. A general shift to electric UTVs may not be immediate, but it is no longer a distant prospect. CASE IH STRENGTHENS SCOTTISH DEALER NETWORK WITH DUAL-BRAND EXPANSION
Case IH is set to expand its presence across Scotland, with Agricar Ltd and Ravenhill Ltd adding the brand to their existing New Holland operations from 8 June 2026.
The move will see both businesses transition to dual-branded dealerships – a change designed to broaden machinery choice and strengthen aftersales support for customers across North and Northeast Scotland, as well as the Highlands and island regions.
Under the new structure, Agricar will cover eastern territories including Angus, Fife, Kincardineshire, Perthshire and Stirlingshire, operating from depots in Cupar, Forfar, Laurencekirk, Perth and Stirling. Ravenhill, meanwhile, will extend coverage further north, supporting customers across Aberdeenshire, Morayshire, the Highlands, Orkney and Shetland through its six locations.
By incorporating Case IH into their portfolios, both dealers will be positioned to supply and service a full range of machinery from both brands. The aim is to improve continuity of support and minimise downtime, which is particularly important for customers operating in remote and often weather-exposed areas.

The appointments form part of a broader strategy by Case IH to reinforce its dealer network and strengthen aftersales capability in key agricultural regions. David Rapkins, commercial business unit director for Case IH UK and Ireland, says the move builds on established relationships. “Agricar and Ravenhill have been trusted CNH partners for many years, and this development reflects a shared focus on delivering consistent, long-term support for customers,” he says.
For farmers across these areas, the shift is expected to improve access to parts, servicing and machinery, supported by a more integrated and resilient dealer network.
RABI LAUNCHES FARMERSAID APP FOR ON-FARM EMERGENCIES
RABI, the Farmers Charity, recently launched FarmersAid, a pioneering critical care support tool designed to provide clear, step-by-step support after a serious on-farm accident.
Agriculture remains the UK’s deadliest industry, accounting for approximately 20% of all work-related fatalities, despite representing just 1% of the nation’s workforce. FarmersAid has been developed in response to the realities of rural farming environments, where people often work alone, and emergency services may take longer to reach the scene.
The app is designed to help farming people take calm, practical action while emergency services are on the way. It does not replace calling 999 or professional medical care.
The app focuses on the ‘Platinum Ten’ minutes – the critical window in which early action can directly influence survival outcomes. In scenarios such as severe bleeding, intervention within 60 to 90 seconds can be the difference between life and death.
Developed with leading experts in rural emergency medicine, Professor Stuart Maitland-Knibb and Professor Cathy Jackson, FarmersAid translates complex clinical scenarios into simple, step-by-
step instructions for non-clinical users.
“Serious on-farm accidents can happen in an instant. FarmersAid provides clear guidance in those critical, often chaotic, moments that follow,” said Alicia Chivers, chief executive at RABI.
“We want to see FarmersAid on as many phones as possible across the farming community. Whether you’re working on a farm every day, supporting family members or employing staff, we’d encourage people to download the app, learn the scenarios, and familiarise themselves with it before it’s ever needed.”
By helping people familiarise themselves with the scenarios before an emergency happens, the app provides practical guidance that can support those critical first actions while emergency services are on the way.
RABI will be demonstrating FarmersAid across the 2026 show circuit, including Cereals, Groundswell, the Great Yorkshire Show, and the Royal Welsh Show, where participants can take the ‘Torniquet Challenge’ and test their first response skills.
