WELCOME NEW MEMBERS FALL 2023
Welcome New Members In Jesus Christ, God calls people to faith and to membership in the Church, the body of Christ. The baptism (or reaffirmation of baptism) of those who enter the covenant of membership upon their own profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior witnesses to the truth that God’s gift of grace calls forth a response of faithfulness. (Book of Order, G-1.0301) Today we are welcoming these 10 new members and their families through: 1. Public profession of faith 2. Certificate of transfer 3. Reaffirmation of faith They were formally received into membership by vote of our Session on October 15, 2023 during a called meeting. How we praise and thank God for choosing to add to the body of Christ gathered as Vienna Presbyterian Church!

BRETT ARMOUR Brett Armour is excited to be joining VPC. VPC’s focus on community and service really resonated with him. Brett has worked in HR for ten years and currently volunteers in supporting Veterans and Immigrants/Refugees in career coaching and job searches. He’s excited to learn more about the different VPC ministries and see how he can apply his experience to help support the VPC community. Brett and his wife Jacqueline have been married for three years and have one young daughter and they are excited to have her grow up as part of the VPC community. John 4:16 is a verse that speaks to Brett.
JACQUELINE ARMOUR Jacqueline Armour is excited to join VPC with her family as she sets roots, calling NoVA home. Jacqueline is drawn to VPC’s supportive welcoming community, youth mentorship and contemporary worship energy. She hopes to be involved in the future with women’s and parents' groups. As a Neurologic Physical Therapist, she is committed to compassionately serving others and is excited to meet other like-minded individuals to serve the community together. Jacqueline is joining VPC with her husband, Brett, and their daughter, Brynn. Proverbs 3:5-6 resonates with Jacqueline this season.
HEATHER AUSTELL Heather Austell is joining VPC by transfer of letter from Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Charlotte NC. Heather is married to Pastor Robert, and she feels just as called to VPC as Pastor Robert feels. She is excited to figure out where she can best serve at this time. Areas of ministry that are close to her heart are ministries of welcome and encouragement (hospitality, youth), prayer ministries, and ministries of racial reconciliation. Heather has joined the Monday night women's Bible study and looks forward to getting involved in other ways as the Lord leads. Her favorite Bible verse is Prov 3:5-6. She and Pastor Robert have 3 young adult daughters who live in the Charlotte area.
CATHY CLEVELAND Cathy Cleveland is joining VPC by Reaffirmation of Faith. She was drawn to VPC by the sermons and the mission statement, which captures what she believes a church should strive to be. Although she doesn’t have much free time, she would like to explore the opportunities for involvement that are available at VPC. Cathy has traveled around the world, and she loves gardens, even though she has trouble keeping a house plant alive.
BOB CRAMER Bob Cramer will be joining VPC as a transfer from another local church. He hopes to be involved in the men’s small group as a beginning to see what else God may lead him to do. Bob has had several leadership roles in the past, such as leading many mission trips and as head of church council. Bob and his wife Judy have been married for over 50 years and have 2 daughters, 2 great sons-in-law, and 5 grandchildren. He spends a lot of time following the activities of the grandchildren. Bob loves the book of Proverbs and tries his best to live his life by them.
JUDY CRAMER Judy Cramer is joining VPC by Letter of Transfer. She appreciates that VPC has a sincere emphasis on caring, service, and community. Many praises for the opportunities to be involved to glorify God. Judy is looking forward to joining outreach projects, Bible studies, and hospitality events. Gratefully, church connections have always been most important to Judy and her entire family. She and her husband, Bob, have been married for 50 years and have 2 married daughters and 5 grandchildren. Psalm 46:10 is her favorite verse that gives peace for each day, “Be still and know that I am God.”
KATHRYN KERSEY Kathryn Kersey is ecstatic to become a new member at VPC. Kathryn has always been drawn to Vienna Presbyterian’s love and committed community for decades. Kathryn enjoys working with children, volunteering at homeless shelters, donation centers, and supporting people through encouragement and listening. Kathryn looks forward to volunteering with the children & youth ministry, Bags of Love, ushering, and more. Kathryn and Zack have been married for 5 years, they have a loving 10-year-old dog who is a puppy at heart and 2 beautiful smart boys, ages 3 years and 5 months. She works for a construction company in Reston Virginia, enjoys spending time with family on the weekends, and being outside showing her toddler how amazing God and nature are. Psalm 46:5: “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”
ZACK KERSEY Zack Kersey is overjoyed to become a new member at VPC. Zack was introduced to Vienna Presbyterian’s love and faith through his wife, Kathryn. Zack enjoys working with his hands and helping others. Zack is familyoriented and enjoys activities with his wife, 2 sons, and dog outdoors as much as he can. Zack and Kathryn have been married for 5 years, they have a loving 10-year-old dog who is a puppy at heart and 2 beautiful smart boys, ages 3 years and 5 months. Zack works for a commercial construction company in Ashburn, enjoys sports and being active. Proverbs 17:22: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
DARCY MALONE Darcy Malone is excited to be officially joining VPC after being introduced to the church through the DivorceCare ministry and then having a long “courtship” of attending services. She has four adult children - three daughters and one son, as well as three grandchildren. She was brought up in Massachusetts and was christened in the First Parish Church of Weston. She raised her children in the Catholic faith, though she never converted herself. She has been searching for a church to fill a couple of her buckets - namely her spiritual bucket and her community bucket. VPC is definitely that church and Darcy feels a great sense of belonging here, especially when she is singing along with music that speaks to her during the 9 o’clock service!
JIM POFF Jim Poff is delighted to be joining VPC by Reaffirmation of Faith. Jim is drawn to VPC by its mission to bring Christ to the community. As a long-time Vienna resident, he has witnessed VPC’s involvement, and he now wants to participate in that support. Jim retired from a commercial real estate career in 2021 and hopes this can assist in VPC’s efforts. He has one adult daughter living in Richmond, VA.
