FROM HOPE'S HEART... “Whoever says, “I abide in him,” ought to walk in the same way as he walked.” ~1 John 2:6 Happy New Year, VPC! Last year was a year of figuring out who we are and what God is calling us to be: a caring fellowship, bringing Christ into our diverse community, through discipleship and service. This year is all about living into that call! As we seek to do that we need to make 100% sure that each and every one of us is living out an authentic faith --- not a perfect one, but definitely an authentic one. And that means not just knowing Scripture, but living it. Not just knowing Jesus, but following Him. Across the life of the church we’re about to embark on a long-term series called "Sermon on the Mount : What Would It Look Like to Actually Follow Jesus.” I’ve got to warn you in advance, it’s going to challenge all of us because Jesus did some stuff, a lot of stuff, that will push many of us right outside of our comfort zones. Just remember that it’s at the edge of our comfort zones where we find a world literally dying to know the hope of Christ!
The sermon series starts January 8th and there are small groups, large classes, mission opportunities, offerings for adult, youth, and children that all start in the weeks to follow. You’ll find all of those details inside this issue. Whether you’ve been at VPC for years or this is your first time with us, I want to personally invite you into a year of growing authentically with Jesus!
