Welcome to A Rancher’s Rendezvous 3.0, held March 9–11, 2026, at the R.A. Brown Ranch near Throckmorton, Texas. Over three action-packed days, we invite you to gather where tradition, horsemanship, and fellowship meet; celebrating not only great horses and cattle, but the people and programs behind them. From top-tier ranch horse competition to time spent around the chuckwagon, this event is designed to reflect the values that have shaped our ranch and our relationships for generations.
This year’s sale catalog represents 37 outstanding horses, some home-bred through the Brown family program, alongside a carefully selected group of consignments from trusted family friends. These are not isolated offerings—they are the product of long-standing, intentional breeding programs that emphasize soundness, cow sense, durability, and versatility. Programs that have stood the test of time, adapted with the industry, and continue to produce horses that succeed from the futurity pen to the ranch, from the show arena to the rodeo arena.

SALE GRADUATE INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Beginning with the 2026 sale, all horses selling through the R.A. Brown Ranch Family & Friends Horse Sale are automatically eligible for our Sale Graduate Incentive Program. This program was created to reward performance beyond sale day and to recognize the continued success of our sale graduates across a wide range of competitive disciplines.
The Sale Graduate Incentive will be awarded to the highest-earning sale graduate during the qualification period of March 11, 2026 through March 1, 2027, based on official earnings reported through EquiStat or Robin Glenn / QData. The winning horse will be recognized and awarded $7,500 during A Rancher’s Rendezvous 4.0 in March of 2027.
Once a horse becomes eligible, it remains eligible every year the incentive is offered (at least through the 2028 season). For example, during the 2027 earning season, all horses that sold through the 2026 and 2027 sales will be eligible, creating a growing pool of proven sale graduates competing annually for the incentive. Importantly, this incentive is transferable with the horse, allowing eligibility to follow the horse regardless of ownership changes.
Participation is simple. Buyers will complete a short nomination form, available in buyer packets at the sale and on our website, and submit it to the ranch office along with their horse’s official earnings report from EquiStat or Robin Glenn / QData.
The Sale Graduate Incentive reflects our belief that great horses are built for longevity, versatility, and performance and we look forward to celebrating the achievements of these graduates for years to come.
Giving Back
Giving back has been a part of the R.A. Brown Ranch family longer than selling bulls, cows and Quarter Horses, a family value which has been passed down generation to generation. Rob and Peggy started the tradition in conjunction with our annual sale to give back to individuals in need and entities who serve others. From auctioning off chickens, bird dogs, and hackamores to donating proceeds from a sale-topping horse, the R.A. Brown Ranch family has consistently given back in a significant way.
This year, proceeds will be directed towards an organization near and dear to our hearts: the Working Ranch Cowboys Association Foundation. This foundation serves as a crisis fund to assist working ranch cowboys and their families. Life’s curveballs are often amplified on ranches, where occupational wrecks, natural disasters, and rural distances can leave families particularly vulnerable.
To date, the Foundation has given “a hand up, not a hand out” of nearly $6 million to cattle ranching families from Florida to California and everywhere in between. Those funds have helped purchase wheelchairaccessible vehicles, funded transportation for routine long-haul hospital visits and helped families start over after devastating natural disasters. The organization also awards multi-year scholarships to cowboys and their immediate family members for collegiate, trade or vocational programs.

We’re thrilled to welcome the incomparable Chris and Sarah Dawson to our Tuesday morning complimentary clinic on March 9th, beginning at 8:30am! This dynamic duo has become one of the most exciting talents in the reined cow horse industry, renowned for their precision, horsemanship, and championship level performance. Both Chris and Sarah rank among the elite riders in the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), each having surpassed the twomillion-dollar earnings mark in lifetime competition. It is a true testament to their success and mastery in the show pen. Their combined experience on different horses and disciplines makes this clinic a can’t-miss opportunity for riders of all levels looking to elevate their skills “down the fence”.
Chris Dawson
A third-generation horseman from Perrin, Texas, Chris Dawson has established himself as one of the premier trainers and competitors in the reined cow horse world. His list of accomplishments includes being a NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Champion, Stallion Stakes Champion, Derby Champion, and Hackamore Classic Champion, and he’s a proud member of the NRCHA Million Dollar Club with over $2.7 million in lifetime earnings. Chris’s journey in the industry began with a deep love of horses that led him into professional training, and over the years he’s built a reputation for his thoughtful approach, dedication to fundamentals, and ability to bring out the best in both horse and rider.
Sarah Dawson
Equally impressive is Sarah Dawson, also hailing from Perrin, Texas, who has made her own indelible mark on the NRCHA circuit. Sarah became one of the youngest riders to reach million-dollar rider status and has claimed major titles like the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open Championship and Hackamore Classic Championship aboard standout horses such as Shine Smarter and Selvarey. Her lifetime earnings exceed $2.8 million, and she holds the distinction of being the first female NRCHA professional to surpass the two-million-dollar milestone. Known for her calm confidence, strategic riding, and deep horsemanship, Sarah brings energy and insight that will inspire every clinic participant.

As we prepare to name our 6th horse show champion, we want to celebrate our five previous saddle winners — horses that do more than just impress judges in the arena. Our first Champion horse, Seven S Lucky Spark, was out of a Stuart Ranch mare, so we asked Stuart Ranch’s Terry Forst to comment on what she thinks of all the winning horseflesh.

“”Slim” was cool because he was so big but so athletic, quick-footed and cowy. I trained him when I was in college and showed him for the ranch horse team. He definitely got used more than he got trained on and shown. I think it says a lot about a horse that you can do a full day’s ranch work on and still be competitive in that arena with so much competition. I’m glad I got to win a saddle on him, especially at a show surrounded by so many good cowboys and cowgirls. I was also riding Slim when I won Top Hand at the Texas Ranch Round-Up in Wichita Falls in 2021. It probably should have been Slim that won Top Horse instead of me winning Top Hand. He is a special horse.”

“The R.A. Brown show is my favorite of the year. To win there at a ranch I have always looked up to, in a ranching-focused competition in front of other ranching folks is special. It’s a dream come true to have a horse like “J Noble” that I can doctor cattle on, drag calves on, ranch on, and show at high levels of competition. Not only is he the best cow horse I have ever ridden, he helped me win the title
of World’s Greatest Horsewoman in 2022. Now we are riding his offspring, experiencing their natural talent, even making the finals of the Snaffle Bit Futurity on one of his babies. He has about 15 mares and we sell the fillies off the mare and keep the geldings to ride and sell. He is literally the perfect horse for what we do, the perfect package of what we needed at the ranch.

He stands to the public and we are excited he is now enrolled in the Riata Stallion Incentive. Guitar Ranches own the mare that he is out of, and they wanted to promote their program with a horse like him that could be out in the public eye.”

Trump is the kind of horse that will get any job done when asked and then come right back and be as laid-back and easygoing as you want him to be. This Bet Hesa Cat mare is as sweet and kind as they come, but don’t let that fool youshe is no pushover, especially when there’s a cow involved. Beth absolutely loves her job. I started “Beth” for a client as a 2-year-old, and she impressed me enough that I purchased her with the intention of showing her at the 2025 Snaffle Bit Futurity. She has been a pleasure to ride from day one and is a true team player in the training pen-honest, willing, and eager to learn. Beth has a quality lead change, correct and stylish spins, and is continuing to gain confidence and strength in her stops. Her true passion is cow work, and anything involving cattle immediately has her full attention, showing natural desire, feel, and grit. Beth has been shown at two futurities with solid runs in all three events. While we haven’t yet put together a complete sweep in one outing, the ability, talent, and try are absolutely there, making her an exciting prospect for continued development. Beth is also really enjoying the roping pen and will be entered in the Junior class at the upcoming RHAA show. She is out of a proven heeling mare and is showing a lot of promise herself as a heeling or breakaway prospect. Meet La Chiffre, the villain from Casino Royale! “Chief” is the very first Jaymes Bond foal being offered to the public, and we couldn’t have brought a better built, more easy-minded foal for you. Out of one of our favorite ranch mares, we have been impressed with this colt’s confirmation and flashy markings since he was born. He was sent to the Weatherford College colt starting class to be halter broke this last year for only 1/2 the semester and came back as experienced as the other foals that were there for the entire class, showing how unbothered on the ground he is. We haven’t let many of these Jaymes Bond babies go yet because as Pete has said ‚“If I was 20 years younger, you’d have a hard time keeping me off of them!”

“Hughey” has been a part of our extended family since he was a yearling. He has been ridden by two older cowboys, one being Ellison Carter and the other being his current owner James Penisten. Hughey is the smoothest trotting horse we’ve ever rode. He is gentle, and stays that way with time off.
