Our Why To bring our Mission into action we have reorganized our leadership structure to better support students, families, faculty, and staff. Our new structure is designed around two key areas: ● Academics – teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment, and student achievement. ● Student Life – well-being, relationships, citizenship, leadership, athletics, arts, and the overall student experience. Together, these two areas reflect our belief that students thrive when their academic growth and personal development are intentionally connected. Our partnership with families is built on respectful communication, shared responsibility, and trust. Our Community Code of Conduct and our Three School Rules—Respect, Manners, and Try Your Best—guide how we work together as students, families, faculty, and staff. These principles also shape how we communicate and solve problems together. Many families have developed habits over the years about who to contact for different questions or concerns. As with any organizational change, those habits will take some time to adjust. This guide is intended to make that process easier. Your child's first point of contact is almost always the best place to begin. ● JK - Grade 6: Homeform Teacher ● Grade 7 & 8: Teacher Advisor (formerly Homeform) Teachers know your child best, are most connected to your child’s everyday lived experiences, and are often able to answer questions or resolve concerns quickly. In Grades 7 and 8, each homeform is now led by two Teacher Advisors. The KCS Middle School Advisory Program offers Grade 7 and 8 students a supportive, developmentally appropriate structure that balances academic monitoring with relational care to foster holistic growth. Through regular check-ins, well-being lessons, and direct parent communication, Teacher Advisors serve as the central point of contact to ensure a coordinated, supportive journey for every student. When additional support is needed, they will work closely with school leaders to ensure you receive the guidance and support you need. Further information will be provided in September. Our goal is simple: You should always know how to navigate through KCS to find help.

Frequently Asked Questions Why have these leadership roles changed? Our new leadership structure strengthens alignment between the Junior and Senior Schools while creating greater clarity around Academic and Student Life programming. It allows us to better support students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 while maintaining the unique character and oversight of each campus. This will allow us to focus attention on Academic support and enrichment as well as consistency across the whole school to deliver a program that inspires our students to aspire to achieve and become life long learners. It will also allow us to focus on a cohesive Student Life experience for our students across the domains of athletics, arts, citizenship, and student leadership. In this way, they will develop the skills and dispositions that are durable and deeply human. Will I still communicate with my child's classroom teacher? Absolutely. Your child's teacher remains your primary point of contact and your most important partner in supporting your child's growth and success. Should concerns or ideas not be able to be addressed with your child’s teacher, the Principals can support that teacher to make sure concerns and ideas are addressed. When should I contact a Principal? Principals provide support for matters requiring broader coordination, a school-wide perspective, or leadership beyond the classroom. If an issue is not resolved through the classroom teacher, the teacher will collaborate with the Principal to ensure you receive the appropriate guidance and support. When would an Assistant Head of School become involved? Assistant Heads provide K–12 leadership across both campuses. In most cases, families will work directly with teachers and Principals. Assistant Heads become involved when a matter requires broader oversight or coordination across the school. What if I'm not sure who to contact? Start with your child's classroom teacher. If another member of the leadership team is better positioned to help, we will ensure your question reaches the appropriate person. You never need to worry about finding the "right" person first—we will help connect you with the appropriate support.
