Board Chair Tiffany Jay

What does it mean to shape what’s next? At Kingsway College School, it means having the courage to look beyond the present, the discipline to ask difficult questions, and the conviction to make thoughtful choices today that will strengthen our school for generations to come. This past year marked a meaningful milestone in our school’s history: our first full year with our new Head of School, Garth Nichols, at the helm. We are grateful for the thoughtful leadership, energy, and care he has brought to our community as he leads us in this next chapter. The role of the Board during a transition such as this is to provide support, perspective, and continuity—and it has been a privilege to work alongside Garth. Together, we have celebrated where the school has been, taken an honest look at where we are today, and begun to imagine where we can go from here. This spirit of reflection and renewal has been key in several important areas of governance this year. Our accreditation journey has invited us to look critically and thoughtfully at who we are and how we operate. Last year, this work culminated in a successful accreditation experience that affirmed the strength of our school while also identifying opportunities for continued growth. More than a process of validation, accreditation challenges us to hold ourselves accountable to high, national standards and to ensure that our practices, policies and priorities continue to serve our students and community well. We are grateful to

1

everyone who contributed to this important work and proud to have reaffirmed the strong foundation on which our next chapter will be built. At the same time, we engaged our community in thoughtful conversations as we developed our renewed mission, vision and values. As KCS and the world around it continues to evolve, it is important that these foundational statements remain relevant and meaningful. This work invited us to consider not only who we are today, but also who we aspire to become—and the kind of learning community we want to create for future generations of students. These conversations are informing the strategic planning work now underway. While the work of shaping the future requires vision, it also requires partnership. The Board is grateful to our faculty and staff, school leadership, students, parents, alumni, and donors who have contributed their perspectives, energy, and commitment to shaping our future, and proud to be carrying a strong foundation forward. The strength of our school lies in this collective commitment to our students and to the belief that education can open possibilities and empower young people and help shape a changing world. At KCS, we are choosing to look ahead with purpose, and we are creating the conditions for our students—and our school—to continue to thrive in the years ahead. Head of School Garth Nichols

The 2025–26 school year was an important one for KCS. For me personally, it marked my first year as Head of School. I was fortunate to begin this journey with the thoughtful support and guidance of the Board of Governors, whose care for KCS helped ensure I was well prepared for the role. Working alongside the Board this year, I have also experienced firsthand their deep connection to the school and their genuine engagement in helping shape its future. What is also inspiring to me is starting my second year knowing so many families and students already. Last year, I had spent time listening and connecting: getting to know our students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and broader community in formal and informal ways. What has stood out most clearly is the strength of the relationships that define KCS and the shared commitment to helping every student learn, grow, and thrive. This year, we also took important steps in shaping what comes next for our school.

3

Informed by a constituent survey from 2025, my own listening tour with faculty, staff and parents, input from students and our CAIS Accreditation Report, these steps have laid the foundation for the year ahead. One of the most significant steps was the introduction of our updated Mission, Vision, and Values. Together, they provide a clear expression of who we are, what we believe, and the kind of learning community we aspire to be. They will help guide our decisions and priorities in the years ahead as we continue to develop curious learners who aspire to achieve, act with purpose, and shape a changing world. Our Vision challenges us to think deeply about the conditions that allow students to thrive. Strong relationships, student agency, and experiential learning will continue to play an important role in the KCS experience as we prepare students to approach the future with confidence, purpose, and the ability to make a meaningful impact.

ANNUAL REPORT AND DONOR TRIBUTE | 2025-26

We also took steps this year to strengthen how we work together as an organization. Updates to our organizational structure were designed to support greater staffing efficiencies, clearer collaboration, and stronger connections across teams. As KCS continues to grow and evolve, it is important that our structures support both the needs of today and the opportunities ahead. Of course, the heart of KCS remains our students. Being able to connect with students as a coach, teacher and trip leader during our Senior School excursion to Japan, I am inspired by their curiosity, growth and love of KCS. Throughout the year, our students continued to ask thoughtful questions, embrace new experiences, take on challenges, and demonstrate the many ways they are growing as learners and as members of our community. In classrooms, on stages, playing fields, in outdoor spaces, and beyond our campuses, they were encouraged to explore their interests, develop their voices, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

As we look back on this year, I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received and for the opportunity to begin this journey alongside such an exceptional community. I am humbled by the level of trust, cooperation and collaboration, and I am excited by the opportunities that lie ahead. The future of KCS will be shaped by all of us, through our relationships, our shared aspirations, our willingness to embrace challenges, and our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students. Together, we are shaping what’s next. GARTH NICHOLS Head of School

Just as importantly, the 2025–26 school year was shaped by the people who make KCS such a special place. Our faculty and staff continued to demonstrate extraordinary commitment to our students. Our families remained active partners in their children's learning. Our volunteers, alumni, grandparents, and friends contributed their time, energy, and support to the life of the school. “Shaping What’s Next” reflects both who we are and what we are building together. It recognizes the importance of honouring the strong foundation of KCS while remaining open to new ideas, new possibilities, and the changing needs of our students and community.

Director of Advancement Hallie McClelland The 2025–26 school year was one of continued growth, generosity, and connection at KCS. Throughout the year, the support of our families, alumni, grandparents, staff, and friends helped strengthen the experiences and opportunities available to our students. Through impact philanthropy, volunteerism, sponsorship, and community participation, our supporters played an important role in shaping the KCS experience. In 2025-26, our community invested in areas that matter deeply to our students and families. Generosity supported experiential learning, financial support through the Andrea Fanjoy Financial Support Fund, health and well-being, the arts, citizenship, learning strategies, pluralism, and many other opportunities that enrich the life of our school. Every gift represented more than financial support. It reflected a belief in our students and in the possibilities that emerge when a community comes together to invest in their future. The generosity of our donors allows

5

KCS to enhance opportunities and respond to emerging needs while continuing to create meaningful experiences that help students learn, grow, and discover their potential. Building a strong community was also an important part of the year. Across both campuses, families had opportunities to connect, build relationships, and experience the sense of belonging that is so central to KCS. Parent Grade Parties, Coffee Mornings, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and other community gatherings brought people together and created meaningful opportunities for connection. Our partnership with the Parent Network continued to play an important role in strengthening the KCS community. Through shared events, volunteer involvement, and initiatives designed to bring families together, the Parent Network helped foster relationships and create connections across our Junior and Senior campuses. Their energy, generosity of time, and commitment to KCS contribute in meaningful ways to the experience of our families and the strength of our community.

ANNUAL REPORT AND DONOR TRIBUTE | 2025-26

These efforts remind us that Advancement is about more than philanthropy. It is about building meaningful relationships, creating opportunities for people to connect, and fostering a community where individuals feel a sense of belonging and shared purpose. It is through these relationships that we strengthen the connection between families and KCS and create a community that supports not only our students, but one another.

The future of KCS will be shaped by all of us, through our relationships, our shared aspirations, our willingness to embrace challenges, and our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students. - Garth Nichols, Head of School

As we reflect on the 2025–26 school year, we are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to KCS. Whether through a gift, volunteerism, sponsorship, participation in an event, or simply by helping build connections within our community, each person played a role in shaping the year. “Shaping What’s Next” reflects both who we are and what we are building together. Through curiosity, meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and a commitment to creating opportunity, we are helping students grow with confidence and purpose while strengthening the community that surrounds them. Thank you for being part of KCS and for believing in what is possible when we come together. HALLIE MCCLELLAND, CFRE Director of Advancement

Deputy Head and Assistant Head of School, Academics Dr. Matina Mosun Guided by the Mission, Vision, and Values of KCS, the 2025–26 school year stood as a powerful testament to academic excellence, well-being, and student agency across both campuses. We opened the year welcoming new families and bringing all Grade 7 through 12 students together at Camp Onondaga, which set an inspiring early tone focused on teamwork, leadership, and personal accountability. Throughout the year, our Senior Campus served as an inspiring hub for experiential learning, initiative, and connection. Students from JK to Grade 12 enjoyed our innovative learning spaces through cooking workshops, science projects, 3D printing, and prototype pitch recordings in the Studio Labs. KCS Creative Labs produced student-led media capturing our impressive learning stories and sharing them across campuses. Embedded signature programming such as Advisory and transdisciplinary programs like KCS By Design and PATH continued to strengthen our students’ foundation for self-advocacy and personal achievement.

9

Across our Four Doors to Learning, Senior School students continually expanded their horizons and embodied the defining traits of the KCS Portrait of a Graduate: thinking critically, communicating effectively, collaborating with confidence, and demonstrating creativity and innovation. In the Arts, KCS hosted its inaugural spring showcase, “Spring Bloom,” featuring performances in dance, band, animation, improv, and an encore from the Junior School’s Lion King production. Afterward, the Market Place transformed into a coffee house atmosphere complete with a visual arts gallery and student business displays. Furthering our commitment to artistic excellence, two Grade 9 students performed in the Symphonic Band at the CISMF festival. Academic and personal growth were equally on display at our Learning Showcase, where students presented their PATH projects, reflected on mentorship, and articulated future goals.

ANNUAL REPORT AND DONOR TRIBUTE | 2025-26

Athletics also reached new horizons, with KCS earning CISAA championships and medals in Track and Cross Country, OFSAA representation in Swimming, and being awarded Spirit Champions in Senior Ultimate Frisbee. This spirit was further highlighted by the timely debut of our student-initiated mascot, Courage the Cougar, who enhanced our already strong K-12 spirit by visiting both campuses.

I encourage you to always come back to Respect, Manners and Try your Best. These are behaviours, rooted in values, that will serve you exceptionally well every day, but especially when you encounter new challenges and opportunities. - Garth Nichols, Head of School

Our school year came to a close with honouring the impact of Andrea Fanjoy, Head of Senior School, as she retired from KCS. Andrea’s legacy continues through the newly established Andrea Fanjoy Financial Support Fund. We further celebrated year end by honoring our Grade 12 graduates, some who had been at KCS since JK, was truly special as see our students realize their goals of next steps in post-secondary programs both in Canada and abroad. Even as summer arrived, hands-on learning continued on campus at the KCS Launchpad camp, where students used Design Thinking to launch real start-ups and host an energetic Market Day, bringing our energetic and purpose-driven year to a close. Seeing our Senior Campus flourish as a seamless extension of our Junior Campus fulfilled many shared aspirations for our community. It is exciting to see the wealth of opportunities that our Senior Campus is providing us all to lead with purpose and shape a changing world. DR. Assistant Head of School, Student Life Tamara Drummond As a leading learning community, KCS values and understands the importance of strong relationships, student agency, and experiential learning to inspire students to shape the future with confidence, purpose, and impact. Throughout the 2025-26 school year, living out this vision, centring it around academic integrity and well-being, was at the heart of all that took place at the Junior Campus. Guided by our Four Doors to Learning program and Three School Rules - Respect, Manners, and Try Your Best - we foster curiosity, independence, and resilience from Kindergarten through Grade 12. We are proud to share highlights from the Junior Campus in this year’s Annual Report and Donor Tribute. In Kindergarten, our youngest learners explore the world through play-based, inquiry-driven experiences that build confidence and lay the foundation for their emerging academic learning and social-emotional skills. Highlights included the joyful JK Authors of KCS showcase and the SK students’ thought-provoking Outdoor Kitchen inquiry project. In Grades 1 to

11

3, students showcased their learning through projects such as the Grade 1 Kindness Showcase, the Grade 2 Animal Habitats, and the Grade 3 Structures unit, while strengthening literacy, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills. Last year, we hosted our inaugural STEM Showcase featuring the work of our Grade 3, 5 and 6 students. Grade 3 students created math displays demonstrating hands-on learning, enrichment activities and their week of inspirational math inquiry. Truss bridges created and explained by our Grade 5 students, including written notes of their engineering processes, were on display, and our Grade 5 and 6 Robotics Club demonstrated their programming projects. In Grades 4 to 8, voice, choice, and leadership opportunities are further developed. Students engaged in meaningful interdisciplinary projects, from robotics challenges and original mystery writing, to Food Trucks connected to social enterprise development supporting a local charity.

ANNUAL REPORT AND DONOR TRIBUTE | 2025-26

At the Grade 6 Immigration Showcase, each student shared one interesting piece of their story with the audience before guests viewed the displays highlighting the power of storytelling and family history. The Grade 4 Canada Expo saw our students give a sales pitch from their tourist company, and the Grade 5 Longhouse showcase demonstrated a deep understanding of early Indigenous populations. Student leadership roles such as House Captains, Learning Buddies, and Tour Guides provided further opportunities to further develop leadership skills. Our award-winning Senior Campus continued to be a place of learning for our JK-Grade 8 students. Throughout the year, they engaged in place-based learning and cross-grade collaboration through activities such as Grade 4 Gorilla enclosure advertisements supported by our Comm-Tech classes, the Grade 6 Dragon’s Den pitches to Grade 11 Business students, and Battle of the Books competitions. As well, the Creative Labs team took environmental photos of our Grade 8 student leaders that were put on display in the lobby at the Junior Campus.

Our community also came together for muchloved events including Wake Up With The Arts, KCS Has Talent, the school Musical, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and special ceremonies - each a joyful celebration of student talent and commitment. These highlights from 2025–26 showcase more than just exceptional student achievement— they reflect the vibrant, supportive community that makes KCS so special. We are immensely proud of our students' progress and deeply appreciative of the strong partnerships that enrich our school. Looking to the future, we remain inspired by our students' potential and fully confident in their ability to thrive. TAMARA DRUMMOND Assistant Head of School, Student Life

Students also proudly represented KCS in math contests, robotics tournaments, and athletic competitions. Project-based initiatives, such as community service, music and dance ensemble performances, KCS Electives and parent showcases, further enriched learning and deepened engagement for our Junior School students.

Parent Network Highlights

The 2025–26 school year was a year of growth, connection, and new possibilities for the KCS Parent Network. Across both Junior and Senior campuses, more than 250 parent volunteers contributed their time, energy, and ideas to support students, families, and school initiatives. Alongside established favourites such as the Used Uniform Sale, Family Skate, Pickleball Tournament, special lunches, student dances, and the KCS Spring Social, the Parent Network introduced new opportunities for families to connect. The inaugural PN Page Turners Book Club, Walking Club at both campuses, and KCS Holiday Market created new opportunities for families to connect informally and build relationships within the KCS community. Expanded Instagram and WhatsApp communication, along with new opportunities for incoming families to connect through parent ambassadors and welcome initiatives,

13

further strengthened these connections and helped families feel a greater sense of belonging. As we look to shape what’s next, the Parent Network is evolving into a more connected “One PN, Two Campus” model, bringing Junior and Senior campus parent engagement together through shared leadership, streamlined planning, and broader volunteer opportunities. The new structure creates more pathways for parents to participate, develop leadership skills, and find meaningful ways to contribute based on their interests and availability. Building on the energy and ideas of the past year, the PN will continue to introduce new community-building opportunities, strengthen connections with new families, and create welcoming spaces where every family can find their place within the KCS community.

Andrea Fanjoy Retirement Celebration Honouring a Legacy of Vision and Leadership

Andrea Fanjoy Financial Support Fund For generations of KCS students, Andrea Fanjoy has been a champion of possibility. Andrea believes deeply in young people. She has always seen what students can become when they are encouraged to lead, to grow, and to make a meaningful difference in the world by reaching their full potential.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, families, alumni, staff, and faculty gathered at the Senior Campus to celebrate the retirement and extraordinary 23-year career of Mme Andrea Fanjoy. Kicking off with a performance by the Senior Band, the evening centered around moving tributes honouring her remarkable journey from French teacher and Assistant Head of the Junior School to the inaugural Head of the Senior School, where she shaped the curriculum, culture, and student experience from the ground up. To ensure her dedication to equity and opportunity endures, KCS proudly established the Andrea Fanjoy Financial Support Fund.

During Andrea’s retirement, we had the opportunity to honour her extraordinary legacy in a way that reflects her values and her lifelong commitment to students.

This fund will help us welcome students entering Grades 7 through 12 who would not otherwise be able to afford a KCS education. It will open doors for bright, engaged, and driven students whose potential is strong, but whose access to an independent education is limited. By bringing these talented young minds into our school community, the fund ensures that Andrea’s belief in opportunity, equity, and student leadership will continue to shape KCS for years to come.
