Letter from the Editors
The Anar Analects is a digital zine aiming to explore and honor Persian art, writing, and cultural creation. In a political moment where Iran and its people are under attack, highlighting and creating space for these voices is more important than ever. We hope to build a space for the exploration and reflection of memory and home—in its past, present, and future realities.
This zine opens up the space for individuals to contend with the complexities of the current situation. We ask: What is going unsaid in the media? Whose voices are not being heard?
Alongside the grappling with violence, The Anar Analects also opens the space for the acknowledgement of Persian culture, art, and experiences—a celebration of life. The following collection of work contains photography, poetry, writing, and art showing moments of Persian life in Iran and throughout the diaspora.
We hope you will take the opportunity to reflect on these artists’ experiences and your own. Consider joys and troubles and grief. Consider action. We hope you enjoy.
