We are very proud of both our donor and sire battery, and have searched the globe to find the most elite individuals to continue to give our clients the best genetics available.

BUILDING THE LEGACY

We started out as commercial Angus breeders in the late 80’s but after Andrew returned home from a stint in England, working for his family who had Charolais cattle, we decided that we would start our own Charolais stud and “ventured” into the great white breed.

We started our herd with the purchase of one female from the

Culham dispersal in 1993, Culham Mellcat, which seven generations later would found our Naughty But Nice and Mellcat lines.

We then purchased a further two females, Kooyong Millie and Kooyong Melanie, from David and Jan Ellis, Kooyong Charolais, and a great old female, Trinity Farm Angela. Millie eight generations later is the start of our Reminisce line.

We also purchased a foundation female, Breakaway Penny Royal, from the Goodall family, Breakaway Charolais, who would go on to be the founder of our Brigette, Brownie, Dimity and Fiona female lines.

We can say that the guidance and knowledge given by Jo and Ross Goodall and David Ellis has helped us to get to the program we have today.

The stud was registered in 1994 and has grown significantly since we moved to Boyup Brook in 2008 to increase our land holdings and business. With the purchase of two further parcels of land we now run 2500 acres with a further 600 acres of lease country. Our Charolais herd has now grown to 150 registered females.

SHOW RING SUCCESS

Our Charolais show teams have had the best two years in the show ring in 2025 and 2026 with tremendous success across Australia.

At the Sydney Royal Show we won the most successful beef exhibitor award across all breeds and exhibitors which was an honour after travelling 4200kms from WA. We also gained our fourth consecutive most successful exhibitor in the Charolais breed.

In the Charolais judging we took out junior and reserve junior champion female, senior champion bull, and senior and grand champion female with Venturon Starstruck 172S who went on to be the supreme Charolais exhibit, as well as a second place finish in the Urqhuart Interbeed Female. In the group classes we won breeder’s group, pair of heifers, and both the dam’s and sire’s progeny groups.

In the interbreed competitions, we were absolutely honoured to win the prestigious Hordern Trophy for the supreme interbreed breed of the show alongside the great people at Caloona Park Charolais. This is the first time a Western Australian has won this award. We also finished second in the Urquhart Trophy and in the top three for the interbreed breeder’s group.

Our successes with our Charolais program have extended to carcase competitions with our purebred steer entry at the 2023 Adelaide Royal Feature Steer Show being sashed the reserve grand champion purebred carcase, fourth highest scoring carcase overall and the highest scoring Charolais carcase out of 215 entries.

ANGUS ADDED TO THE PROGRAM

In 2015, the tightening of biosecurity rules in Western Australia and the shutdown of importing cattle from the eastern states, resulted in us no longer being able to source enough JBAS-8 replacement females for our commercial herd. This brought about a need to breed our own Angus females, on which the Venturon Angus stud was founded through the purchase of the Diamond Tree herd from the Schwartz family of Gingin and elite embryos from DSK Angus, NSW.

Since then, through the help of Richard Hall we have added elite genetics from across the world with embryos coming from Baldridge Angus, USA, and Hamilton Farms, LLB and Coldstream, all in Canada. Top female lines from across Australia have also been added from Coonamble, Millah Murrah, Cherylton, Wallawong, KO and Monterey. We are extremely fortunate to have added the pick of the Islay herd (formerly Strathtay) from the Young family, Narrogin. Our Angus herd now stands at 200 females with 60 Angus bulls sold annually.

Though our commitment to ensuring our clients are provided with the best Angus genetics we can offer, we made a significant investment in Alpine Real Deal R163, the $90,000 top-priced bull at the 2022 Alpine Autumn Bull Sale, Vic.

In addition to this, we added another walking sire, Brooklana Emperor Q23, bred by Brooklana Angus, NSW, and purchased from Roseleigh Angus, SA, after being blown away by his progeny. We feel he epitomises what we look for in a sire, in any breed, and look forward to his sons selling in our 2027 sale.

INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

Our program is expanding internationally with Venturon genetics exported to Canada, New Zealand and the UK.

In 2026, we welcome new donors and sires from Canada as well as leading Australian bloodlines that will add to our vision to ‘breed the best cattle we possibly can’.

Our embryo transfer (ET) program is stronger than ever with our donor pens stacked with some of the best cows around, providing you with the opportunity to take advantage of our quest to breed the best possible cattle we can.

Through utilising reproductive technologies such as ET, it allows us to generate multiple full and half-brothers for consistency in multi-sire joining programs for our commercial clients.

Ultimately, our aim is to stack both our Angus and Charolais programs with the highest quality breeding females to allow us to offer sires with the best maternal pedigrees, which can be seen throughout the catalogue.

We couldn’t do any of this without our great friend, Richard Hall and we thank him for his dedication to our program.

VENTURON STARSTRUCK 172S

172S as a junior heifer was always in her big sister’s shadow until she calved down and demanded our attention. She’s longer made, and has extra extension through the front end over her flush sisters. For us, she’ll always hold a very special spot in our heart winning our first Hordern Perpetual Trophy and the first for WA at the 2026 Sydney Royal Show after being crowned supreme Charolais exhibit. We flushed 172S as a two-year-old to SVY Mayfield and have some incredible sons and daughters as a result. 172S’s best attribute may just be her calf, 199W, who is shaping up to be even better than her dam. We just love the extra length and width that 172S is passing onto her progeny.

VENTURON STARSTRUCK 157S

From as long as we can remember we’ve always been fans of the Starstruck cow family at SVY. When 157S was born, Andrew and Harris said to each other this is her, she’s the one, and honestly from that point on we’ve never looked back. She was unbeaten as heifer in the Charolais ring being the grand champion Charolais female at the 2022 Adelaide Royal Show as a 12-month-old heifer, and then junior champion Charolais female and second in the interbreed at the 2023 Sydney Royal Show. She went back to Sydney as a two-year-old and was sashed the supreme Charolais e xhibit. She’s had three heifer calves in a row, and all thre e will go on to be dono rs. 157S is a female who brings s o much horsepower to the table with added bone and carcase, ye t remains so feminine with a beautiful udde r. We know you’re not meant to pick favourites, but the bond between 157S and Harris is pretty strong.

The next generation of 157S. Starstruck 157U was the female shown at foot of 157S when she won supreme Charolais exhibit at the 2024 Sydney Royal Show. In her own right, she was supreme Charolais exhibit at 12 months of age at 2025 Perth Royal Show and went on to win the supreme all breeds junior champion beef female sash. Her sire, Countdown, has done an incredible job for us here, being a bull who offers short gestation and low birthweight in an explosive growth package. 157U brings to the table a calving ease option from the Starstruck family, and she has one of the best udders we’ve seen on a Charolais female.

Hillary P27 is the greatest daughter of one of our best breeding females, Hillary H43. She made herself famous on her first calf, Venturon Raise The Bar R1, who sold for a previous WA Charolais record of $36,000 to the Minnie-Vale Charolais, NSW, where he has bred incredibly. P27 has a number of daughters in the herd that are breeding the house down too. Hillary possesses the extra carcase and length of body of the great Sparrows Kingston 139Y as well as the maternal strength of our Hillary line.

To us, we’d describe her as the cow that took our herd to the next level. From when she was born we knew she would be a great one. We have bred Naughty to a range of different sires and she has managed to click with all of them, and we just love the maternal greatness that she passes on to every generation. N31’s dam Gayle, combined two of our best female lines and we believe this is the depth of pedigree that has made Naughty what she is today. We are excited to see the impact she makes across the globe with calves on the ground in Canada and more due in New Zealand and Canada in the coming years.

W90 might just be the best female ever raised at VL. When we bought into Mayfield, we always knew the combination with N31 was going to be incredible. W90 exhibits all of the traits of the modern Charolais and where we want to take our herd into the future. The depth of quality this entire flush has gives us so much faith in this pedigree. She is long fronted and has so much width throughout. She will play a massive part of our herd into the future.

The next generation of Naughtys. The flush of N31 to Duty Free proved to be one of the greatest we’ve ever done. When the COVID-19 lockdown finally ended we hit Sydney Royal in 2022 with four flush siblings which turned the game up another level for us. S32 was awarded junior champion female while her ET brother Stamp Duty was reserve junior champion bull before they teamed up to win both the sire’s and dam’s progeny group classes. She returned to Sydney as a three-year-old and won senior champion female in 2025. An ET brother sold to the Boulview stud, SA, for $22,000 as a 12-month-old calf and has done an incredible job for them. S32 adds a touch more carcase than her mum with an even better data set. Her first set of ET calves are on the ground and they look incredible.

Q11 was originally destined for the 2020 World Congress Show at Brisbane where she was going to be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Blackdog Ride. When the show was cancelled due to COVID, we flushed her and donated five packages to the Blackdog Ride which raised $20,000. Q11, known as ‘Pod’, stood alongside her dam, Naughty But Nice N31, when she won supreme Charolais exhibit at the 2019 Adelaide Royal Show. Pod stood unbeaten as a junior female before she went on to win supreme Charolais exhibit at the Perth Royal Show in 2021 and 2025, and the Supreme All Breeds Female, All Breeds Champion Pair, and Breeder’s Group of Three in 2025. She adds the maternal qualities of N31 with the power and carcase attributes that Grizzly adds.

Fiona is a female who has always had our attention after being a standout in the weaner pen. Her granddam, Fiona F23, was one of our favourite females of all time and she has passed her extra body mass and length into T216. The exciting part about Fiona is how she combines our Fiona and Gayle/Melcat female lines with the addition of Lanza and Grizzly. Unfortunately, we only got two daughters of Ricky Bobby before he had a career-ending injury but when one of them looks like this, his legacy lives on. T216 offers incredible udder quality and displays that trademark Venturon length of front. She was chosen as Winchester Charolais’s selection when they purchased the pick of the herd flush lot at our 30th anniversary sale.

‘THE ONLY PROBLEM YOU ’ RE GONNA HAVE IS THAT YOU DIDN’T GET MORE

We were originally drawn to this female at the 2021 DSK Dispersal Sale. As a three-year-old she had all of the traits we wanted in a female that would be the cornerstone of our red program. We were able to add her to our donor pen after purchasing her at the Barber Charolais Dispersal in 2024. Crusty Demon bred so well for us with the only problem being we don’t have enough daughters to work with today. We’ve always been extremely fond of what the Temana Gold Logie/ Crusty Demon-cross has done and we look forward to seeing what it does for us.

From when we first learnt about Clara D211 we wanted to own a daughter. Clara R9 sold as one of the feature heifer calves at the 2021 Palgrove Female Sale and we had to own her after seeing her photo. Crowd Favourite daughters have always been highlights of ours in Canada and his dam, Paris 7S, was our favourite red-factor cow on our tour in 2018. Clara is also a maternal sister to our elite sire, Talladega, who sold for $50,000 to Bauhinia Park Charolais,QLD. Clara R9 has some incredible progeny on the ground and we look forward to seeing her daughters shape our herd.

When Harris worked for Serhienkos of SVY at Agribition in 2022 they were stalled across from the Elder team, and after week of admiring the heifer with Dennis Serhienko and the excitement of Mayfield winning supreme, a decision was made to buy a half-share in her together. After touring Elder Charolais later that week and seeing her dam, granddam and maternal siblings, it cemented our belief she’d turn into a top female. We have always admired TR Carbon Copy and had wanted to own a daughter to bring into our herd. The udder quality, refinement and overall ‘Design’ of 117J will make her a great addition to our program.

A herd sire since he was born. We believe Showbiz is one of 409B’s best sons to date and to have him walking in our pasture is incredible. We haven’t been able to find a herd sire who adds so much carcase and muscle to his progeny yet breeds daughters who are as refined and maternal-made as they come. We love the udders Showbiz is putting on his daughters and look forward to seeing these cows grow into matrons. His first daughter sold to the Kelly family, Golden Park, Vic, and had a stellar show career for them being supreme Charolais exhibit at the 2025 Adelaide Royal Show. Showbiz’s first sons were the highest averaging group in our 2026 bull sale and topped the Charolais draft.

On our quest to find the best sires across the globe, we found Boom. After seeing videos of him from when he was born we knew we needed to own a part of him. When Shannon and Kehler Eaton,Bar SK Cattle, Canada, got in touch with us about partnering with them to buy him, we couldn’t say yes quicker. Boom’s dam, 110J, was Harris’s pick of the bred heifers at SVY when he toured in 2022. In minus 44 degrees she still looked incredible and we knew one day we needed something out of her. 110J is also an ET sister to the great SVY Trust so we know the depth of pedigree runs strong in Boom. We had kept a keen interest in WDZ Flatland, intending to utilise him in our program, but with semen not qualifying for Australia we looked to the next generation.

Just like our favourite segment on Top Gear, he’s making himself into a star. The Stig was retained after he was a standout and the heaviest bull in his contemporary group all year. His dam has kicked it out of the park, raising one of the pick of the drops for four years in a row. Our Skaggs daughters are some of our best cows and we find he adds so much quality to a pedigree when he’s sitting there a generation back. The Stig’s sire, N391, is one of the best sires we have used in our AI program. We have always had a great deal of respect for Tom and Olivia Lawson’s Paringa program and were waiting for the right

sire to add to our sire battery, and Kilopacker did just that. We thank High Bluff Stock Farm and Johnson Charolais, both of Canada, for securing the Canadian rights in The Stig.

Power, polled and gold! One of the best red factor sires we’ve seen, and we’re privileged to have bred and raised. Talladega was the grand champion Charolais bull at Sydney Royal Show in 2024 and in 2025 he sold to the Holzwart family at Bauhinia Park Charolais, QLD, for a WA Charolais record-price of $50,000. He was the result of a ‘pick of the herd’ flush lot we purchased at the 2021 Palgrove Sale. After seeing so many great sons of Palgrove Landmark, we chose to breed the incredible Clara D211 to him and what a mating it was. Talladega’s first calves are everything we hoped for and we look forward to seeing what he does for the foundation of our red factor program.

The greatest Canadian sire we’ve ever used. Harris had the privilege of working for the SVY team at Agribition in 2022 when they campaigned him with the Cays. A truly incredible moment to be a part of when he was slapped supreme bull. Our first crop of Mayfield calves are nothing short of incredible. His daughters are so sweet-fronted with so much width, while his sons are the commercial cattleman’s dream, displaying so much base width, added carcase, yet retaining calving ease and short gestation. His first daughter was the supreme beef cattle exhibit at the 2026 Wagin Woolorama and was the junior champion female at Sydney Royal Show, while Mayfield also sired the pair of heifers and dam’s progeny group at the same event. One of the greatest sleep all night, calving-ease bulls we’ve ever used whose calves get up and grow with the best. We always took Dennis’s comments about the calves growing incredibly with a grain of salt after they were born so tiny here, but man was he right. Historic calves match the best for daily gain but start kilograms lower at birth. Historic’s ET sister was one of Harris’s highlights of the entire trip after inspection at Yackley’s Trans Ova centre in North Dakota. She is a female with refinement, and do ability, with so much milk, and she had one of the best calves seen on the trip. Historic originally flagged for us due to his dam, M6 Germaine. We have always been massive fans of the M6 program and when the opportunity to gain access to another sire derived from one of their best female lines we jumped at it.

Ramrod was purchased at the 2021 Ascot Sale as an outcross, calving ease option. Ramrod features a pedigree with North American greats such as LT Ledger and LT Authority. Ryan Holzwart inspected him for us and agreed he’d tick the boxes for us. His dam is a beautiful-uddered, sound female that offered our first injection of Ledger into the herd. Ramrod’s sons have been extremely well received by our customers and we look forward to seeing what his son, Visionary V102, does for our herd and purchasers Minnie-Vale Charolais, NSW.

COONAMBLE L319

We toured Coonamble Angus twice, and both times L319 was a female we dreamt of owning. In November 2022, we were able to purchase her for $52,000 with our family from the UK, the Lear Family of Creslow Angus. To us she is one of the best Angus cows we’ve ever seen as she is an Angus female with so much body mass and power, yet retains refinement and handles herself so eloquently. The future is going to be big for L319 within our herd with three daughters that’ll become donors as well as two sons that will be used in the herd. L319’s dam, H1, has been described as one of the best breeding females Coonamble has had, and with two elite daughters that sold for $63,000 and $52,000, you can see why.

We were given the opportunity to purchase a selection of embryos from Baldridge Angus in the US through our good friend Jack Laurie at Breeder Genetics. T156 is the result of one mating we purchased. We have always admired the Blackcap line and wanted to add it to our herd. Her sire, Sitz Accomplishment, is a bull who has bred so well in the states and is backed by a really nice moderate thick daughter of SAV Resource, which is a sire whose daughters we just love. Currently, T156 has an incredible set of Basin Jameson calves on the ground and we look forward to watching them grow.

We’ve always loved what Remitall Rachis has done for the DSK herd and we knew we wanted to build a female line from a daughter. Q13 is an imported embryo from Canada out of the LLB program who we purchased from DSK. At her first and only show, she was supreme Angus exhibit of the 2021 Perth Royal Show. We have flushed her to a range of sires and she has bred the house down to all of them. For us, her best flush has been to Texas Earnan L612 and we look forward to a daughter becoming a donor.

L42 was selected when Harris was given the opportunity to purchase his pick of the Tullibardine cow herd. The amazing generosity of Alistair Murray led to us bringing home L42 who has gone on to breed some incredible progeny for us. Her first son at Venturon was the grand champion Angus bull at the 2022 Perth Royal Show who went on to top our Angus division at our sale the following year. L42 has had other sons sell to great commercial programs while her daughters have been retained in our program. She brings added scale to our donor pen with the ability to be flushed to a range of different sires.

Diana is one of our favourite home-bred females in the herd. Her dam, Diamond Tree Diana M29, was Harris’s pick of the herd when we purchased Diamond Tree. S134 is sired by our foundation sire, Granite Ridge Maximus M34, who left us industry- relevant females that have stood the test of longevity due to their overall soundness and do-ability. S134 has bred incredibly well to Alpine Real Deal R163 to date.

A female who has bred the house down for us. R4 is from a flush out of Andrew’s favourite cow from the Diamond Tree herd, Diamond Tree Weigh Up M5, to Bushs Easy Decision. We were very fortunate as this flush gave us 18 embryos of which there is nine daughters in the herd today, and a set of sons that topped our sale and bred incredibly well for our customers. Bushs Easy Decision was used due to his impeccable maternal pedigree backed by four direct generations of Pathfinder dams. R4 has had two sons used in the stud herd as well as a son who was a feature in our 2026 bull sale.

CHERYLTON RADO P205

Rado P205 was selected as the secondtop-priced female at the 2022 Arkle Angus Production Sale, after she caught our eye immediately in a paddock of 50 females. She has one of the most amazing skin and hair types, and has so much body mass and length. P205 oozes maternal quality combining the great Rado and Flower lines from the Millah Murrah program as well as the great Coonamble Hector whose daughters are like gold to our program. She has got some incredible daughters in our herd, and her highlight has been her Alpine Real Deal R163 son selling as the lead bull in our 2024 sale.

MATERNAL QUALITY

HER DAUGHTER’S STAY IN THE HERD & HER SON’S LEAD THE CHARGE

L149 was purchased as one of our pick females at the 2022 Coonamble Mature Female Dispersal for $28,000. We selected L149 for her amazing udder quality, femininity, and exceptional outlook. To our program she brings the famous Dream line as she is a great-granddaughter of the previous Australian-record top-priced cow, Vermont Dream Y301. Richard Hall has always told us how great the Coonamble Z3 bull made daughters so when we analyzed her pedigree and he featured, that ticked another box. Booroomooka Yogi Z27 has always been a bull we have noted in pedigrees featuring in great cows, so L149 being by a Z27 son cemented our beliefs in this female yet again.

H251 was one of our pick females when we toured Coonamble and we were able to purchase her at the mature dispersal sale with our friend Tom Wilding-Davies. She is a red-carrier female which has given us the ability to utilise her in both programs. Another big drawcard for us was the fact she is an ET sister to the great Coonamble Hector who sired the record top-priced Angus female, Millah Murrah Prue M4. H251 has done an incredible job for us with a son being used in our stud herd and his subsequent calves looking great before we sold him on to a Red Angus stud. H251’s dam, E9, has been described to us as near perfect by Richard Hall and there is no doubt as she is a daughter of the great Bangadang Lowan A61 who built the Coonamble herd.

WINCHESTER ABIGALE T37

Abigale T37 was offered as one of the feature females in the 2024 Winchester Production Sale as a 50% share. Together with our close family friends, the Bolton family, Vic, we purchased this lot. This female derives from two programs we have a lot of respect for being the Padua and Premier herds. Her great granddam is an imported embryo from the famous Abigale line from the SAV herd in America. T37 is sired by Benchmark who is a bull we rate for the extra performance he adds and the maternal quality he puts into his daughters. She gained a lot of friends when she was on display at the 2025 World Angus Forum in Tamworth, NSW, especially for her incredible heifer calf at foot, Abigale V7, who has grown into a beautiful female. T37 brings to our program incredible growth and carcase weight data, and we believe she will complement our cow herd extremely well.

ALPINE REAL DEAL R163

We had been on the lookout for a leading Angus sire for a long time; one that we could really build a herd around and when we came across Real Deal R163, we knew he was just that. Rarely do you find a bull with a +4.9 IMF figure with as much meat and width throughout, which shows in his +11.2 EMA figure.We just love his overall presence which is backed by one of our favourite female lines going back to Bangadang Lowan A61, who is a female which has bred so well for Coonamble Angus, and out of a full sister to Alpine herd sires Muzza and Elevator M268. A very appealing thing to us with Real Deal was the fact we owned his granddam, and she raised a calf every year until she was 14. Real Deal’s calves are everything we had hoped for and more. Such impeccable foot and leg structure,

excellent slick coats and skin types, bomb-proof quiet and added growth. In a hard year in our area, our Real Deal calves have come through at the top of each of their contemporary groups. One of the most pleasing things has been to show so many astute cattleman through our program, and all of them have been blown away by Real Deal.

In 2023 we toured the Roseleigh herd and in every mob we visited, we were left asking the same question - “who’s that?”, and Matt Cowley would reply, “another Emperor”. That day, a deal was made and we will forever be thankful to the Cowley family for allowing us to purchase this sire. We originally took interest in this bull due to his dam, the $190,000 Millah Murrah Pure M4. Emperor Q23’s sire, L29, is a bull who has bred well for Brooklana, and is stacked with a pedigree of cow makers. Q23’s daughters are displaying the extra dimension and added scale that we have been looking for. We purchased Emperor Q23 to breed to the Real Deal daughters and he is doing everything we had hoped he would.

Anne found U99 one day after searching the internet for an Angus herd sire to bring into our program. Rector ticked a lot of boxes for us being backed by generations of great females on both sides of his pedigree. His dam sold for $118,000 at the last Millah Murrah Female Sale to Ascot, Qld, and she is doing an incredible job for them with a maternal brother to U99 being contracted by ABS. U99’s granddam is another of our favourite Millah Murrah cows being none other than the famous N30 female in which a half share sold for $120,000. Rector U99 is also a direct son of the great breeding piece, Millah Murrah Rector. We look forward to seeing the impact U99 has on our Angus program.

Charisma was one of the highlight Angus sires of Harris’s 2024 American trip. Charisma grabbed our attention as soon as we drove into his breeding pasture due to his overall dimension, extra barrel, beautiful sirey head, and big square hip. Charisma’s dam needs no introduction being the dam of some famous SAV bulls including Bloodline and Rise N Shine. What attracted us to Charisma was his incredible sisters; their udder quality and overall look was nothing short of amazing and what we would love to add to our Angus herd. Charisma’s sire, Colossal 316, is a bull we have always been intrigued by and hoped to use to bring into our herd the maternal quality of his pathfinder dam, Musgrave Lady Barbara 545.

We were fortunate enough to have been given access to Sugar Ray through Josh Clift, JT Angus, NSW. We really admired the selection of daughters Sugar Ray had at the JT Dispersal Sale and we believe he is a sire who will complement our program incredibly well. Sugar Ray was the $160,000 top-priced bull at the 2022 Millah Murrah Bull Sale, and he offers an incredible carcase-built phenotype with a great data set to match.
