The Grand Tour of the Balkans

Day 1. Homeland - Bucharest Flight to Bucharest, the capital and largest city of Romania.

Day 2. Bucharest Upon arrival, begin our sightseeing tour at Bucharest. We will stop at The Arch of Triumph, built to honor the bravery of Romanian soldiers who fought in World War 1. Continue the rest of the tour which includes Calea Victoriei, Revolution Square, The Military Club. In the evening we invite you to enjoy a traditional dance and music show during the festive dinner.

Day 3. Bucharest - Sinaia - Bran - Bucharest This morning, we will travel to Sinaia, Here we will visit the Peles Castle, a masterpiece of German new - Renaissance architecture, considered by many as one of the most stunning castles in Europe. Next, we will visit the Bran Castle, commonly known as “Dracula’s Castle”.

Day 4. Bucharest - Veliko Tarnovo After breakfast, we will travel to Veliko Tarnovo. We will visit the Tsarevets Fortress, probably one of the most widely visited historical sites in Bulgaria.

Day 5. Veliko Tarnovo - Sofia Today, we will travel to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Our sightseeing includes Hagia Sophia. Nearby is the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral the second biggest cathedral located on the Balkan Peninsula. Other points of the interest in the city include The Lion Bridge, Eagle’s Bridge, The Russian Monument and The Monument to Vasil Levski.

Day 6. Sofia - Rila - Skopje Today, we will travel to Rila and visit Rila Monastery, listed in Unesco World HeritageSites in Bulgaria. Next, we will travel to Skopje, the capital city of Macedonia.

Day 7. Skopje Begin our sightseeing tour at Skopje. Here,we will see the sculpture of Philip II, the king ofthe Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon from 359 BC until his assassination in 336 BC. Therest of the tour includes Kale Fortress, Stone Bridge, Parliament Building and Daut Pasha Hamam - an old Turkish bath house.

Day 8 Skopje - Ohrid We will travel to Ohrid and visit Church of St.John at Kaneo, a Macedonian Orthodox churchsituated on the cliff overlooking Lake Ohrid. Continue the rest of the tour with visit to the Old Bazaar and The Church of St. Sophia.

Day 9. Ohrid - Tirana We will travel to Tirana, the capital of Albania. Visit to Blloku, an upmarket area widely known for its’ shopping & entertainment. Next, view the Clock Tower, the symbol of Tirana. Complete the day with visit to the Et’hem Bey Mosque, Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral and Piramida.

Day 10. Tirana - Berat - Kalabaka We make our journey to Berat. See the historic architecture of the Ottoman period and visit the inhabited castle - Berat Castle and the Onufri Museum. Go to the Medieval Centre including King’s Mosque and Halveti Tekkeand learn about interesting local customs. Our next stop is in the old quarters of Mangalemand Gorica that connect with each other by the Gorica Bridge over the Osumi River. Continue our journey to Kalabaka.

Day 11. Kalabaka - Meteora - Athens After breakfast, visit the magnificent Meteora Monasteries, incredibly perched on pinnacles of rock, suspended between earth and sky. Enjoy stunning views of the Pindos Mountains. The scenic drive along the coast back to Athens brings you to Thermopylae, site of the famous battle between the Spartans and Persians to see Leonida’s Monument.

Day 12. Athens - Homeland Transfer to the airport and fly back home.
