RAB participated in the 19th edition of the Rwanda Agricultural Show,heldatMulindiExpoGroundsfromJuly22to31,2026.During the exhibition, RAB showcased the latest agricultural and livestock technologies, innovations, and research aimed at improving productivity, strengthening food security, and contributing to the transformationofRwanda’sagriculturesector.

VisitorstotheRABstandhadtheopportunitytointeractwithRAB researchers and technical experts, who shared insights into the institution’sprogrammes,activities,research,andinnovations.

TheexpertsalsohighlightedRAB’songoingeffortstosupportfarmers andcontributetothecountry’sagriculturaltransformationandfood securitygoals.

The exhibition provided an important platform for RAB to engage with farmers, private-sector actors, students, researchers, and members of the public, while promoting the adoption of modern agricultural technologies and practices and showcasing RAB’s contributiontoRwanda’sagriculturaldevelopment.

OnJuly31,2026 RAB,inpartnershipwithOneAcreFundRwanda, has graduated 311 agricultural extension professionals under the secondcohortoftheExtensionCentreofExcellence(ECoE). Thegraduates,comprising234Site-BasedExtensionAgents(SBEAs) and 77 One Acre Fund Field Officers, received nationally recognized competency certificates during a ceremony held at the RAB Mulindi AgricultureExpoGrounds.

The newly certified professionals will strengthen agricultural advisory services and support the implementation of the Food Basket Site (FoBaSi) model by promoting improved production, facilitating marketlinkages,andtranslatingagriculturalpoliciesandtechnologies intopracticalsolutionsforfarmers.

The initiative supports Rwanda’s PSTA5 and NST2 priorities and contributestotheprofessionalizationofagriculturalextensionservices. Throughcapacitybuilding,qualityassurance,researchandinnovation, market development, and institutional strengthening, the ECoE is helping build a more professional, responsive, and farmer-centred extensionsystem.

As Rwanda advances towards a private-sector-led extension model, theECoEalsostrengthenscollaborationbetweenpublicandprivatesectoractors,ensuringthatskilledextensionprofessionalsarebetter equipped to contribute to increased agricultural productivity and improvedfarmerlivelihoods.

The Rwanda Dairy Development Project Phase II (RDDP2), implemented by the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), is strengthening Rwanda’s dairy sector through the distribution of essential veterinary and breeding equipmentacross27districts.

The equipment includes 30 surgical kits for trained private veterinarians, 20 artificial insemination kits for veterinary professionals, and 27 cryogenic tanks to support the safe storage and preservationoffrozensemen. The equipment will improve access to animal health and breeding services,supportgeneticimprovementof thenationaldairyherd,and strengthenthecoldchainforartificialinsemination.

Theinitiativeisexpectedtocontributetohealthierlivestock,improved dairy productivity, better genetics, and increased incomes for dairy farmers, while strengthening private-sector capacity within Rwanda’s dairyvaluechain.

The

Agricultural Climate Resilience and Green Jobs Creation for YouthinRuralCommunities(CRCSP)project,implementedbyRAB incollaborationwithGatsiboDistrict,hasbegunconstructingradical andprogressiveterracesinMalimbaCell,KabaroreSector,markingan importantsteptowardclimate-resilientagricultureinthedistrict.

The project will establish 300 hectares of terraces to control soil erosion and conserve agricultural land, while supporting the rehabilitation and development of the 500-hectare Mishenyi Marshlandformodernandirrigatedriceproduction.

CRCSPisalsocreatinglocalemployment,withmorethan560people, mainlyyouthandwomen,alreadybenefitingfromconstruction-related jobs.Theprojectwillfurtherinvestinmodernirrigationinfrastructure, 10 rice drying grounds, two rice storage facilities, and two maize shelters to support year-round production and reduce post-harvest losses.

FundedbyKOICA,theUS$17.1millionprojectisexpectedtobenefit approximately6,500households,or31,250people,inGatsiboDistrict throughclimate-resilientagriculture,greenjobs,improvedproductivity, andstrongerrurallivelihoods.
