Re-Imaginig the Assembly Building is a project proposed for the Assembly Building for the State of Chhattisgarh, as it’s administrative capital is being shifted from Old City of Raipur to Naya Raipur. The Head Office of Agriculture Deaprtment for the state of Madhya Pradesh, after splitting of M.P. and C.G. became the Legislative Assembly Building of C.G.
The Legislative Assembly Idea is to design a building which serves as a jewel for the upcoming city and which is bold enough to define the character of the city. Location: Capitol Complex, Atal Nagar, Naya Raipur Site Area:

Concept Primary Idea is to design a building inspired from tribal head gear of Bastar , where Central Core (Head) of the Building houses all the main activities i.e. the Assembly Hall, the Council Hall and the Common Hall. And the side wings enveloping the core like horns guarding the Head housing all the other offices and support areas.

Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru (India’s first prime minister), India saw the formation of various new academies and retrofitting of heritage buildings with cultural institutions. This was done to bring arts and traditional crafts in the urban limelight. After his death, the vision was carried forward by the forthcoming governments in the 1970s. ‘India House’ or ‘Bharat Bhavan’ was envisioned to be built in each of the 21 states (in 1970). It was imagined to be a cultural center that spoke this vision through a series of galleries and exhibition/performance spaces.

The shipping container of 40’, 20’ and 16’ lengths has been put to use by deforming the walls to be extended outside so as to increase the original 8’ width of a container to a triple fold of 24’. The mechanism put to use for this extension is the scissor mechanism made of steel flats of sizes 50 x 10 mm. These scissor mechanisms have been fixed using riveting assemblies of 25 mm diameter. Channel sections have been used to house the braces of the mechanism when assembly is closed.
The partitions have been made using LGSF steel framing members for light weight partitions, also to be carried inside the pods while in travel. Gypsum boards on plywood rectangular wooden flats have been used to finish the internal walls of the container. Acoustic panels as infill panels for the partition walls have been used so as to keep the vibration noise from entering into the bedding areas.
