We, the Senior Class of '53, dedicate the second volume of "The Hilltopper" to Mr. Robert L. DeVault. He has taught many of us the necessity and importance of citizenship and the respect due the rights of others, which is one of the main aspects of our democracy. He was always near at hand when we had a problem and needed advice.

PLACE An ultra-modern scientific laboratory. ACTION
i
The Mingus graduates oi '53 breathlessly file into lerry C Jelly-Belly) Wombacher's and Alvin (CoonBall) Coon's work room. The cracker jack scientists promised the graduates a glimpse into their futures. And to accomplish this great fete? Of course, their supersonic T.V. tube capable of flashing picture waves from 10 light year in the future. The two young men built this tube during their free periods. Quickly the graduates assemble themselves in front of this wonder machine. The first picture to flash on the screen is the new blonde lover, the great Zeon Discus. Ah, the many hearts our own John Dicus has broken! The scene gradually changes to one -of hustle and bustle in a USO center in Japan. The commotion is all due to the new manager the center has. Lo and behold it is no other than Shirlee Morris! We guess she wanted to be near her many service friends. What’s this — a picture of Cottonwood High School? Why there is Dario Rosas, head basketball coach of CHS. My, my who would ever dream that an MHS graduate would teach the Devil's team?! Um-m, now the picture on the screen is changing to what seems to be a model agency in Hollywood. Here comes the owner, Patsy Black, in a new Uribe original evening gown. Narcissa became a designer when she did so well in drawing clothes while going to Mingus Hi. Uncle Sam didn't take many of our graduates and the ones he did are "big cheeses." Manuel Romo and Bobby Gonzales are both Admirals in the Navy. The only trouble is that both men want to boss each other, so they're always getting KP for misbehavior. We knew it — Mary Lou Vladich and Max Wager are still courting! Both Max and Mary Lou are on the teaching staff at Tolleson High School. Wait, there's a rumble and lots of noise on the screen! Someone sounds like an auctioneer. It's only Herbert Stewart, who for the hum-teenth time has just finished selling the town of Jerome, better known as the "Most Unique Town of America," for $50 billion to the many tourists who are always hounding the place. He's now working on the sale of Clarkdale. Good luck, Herbie! We knew it — we were sure to see Cecil Nelson after seeing Herbert, as those two were inseparable. But Cecil isn't with Herbert any longer, because he is now manager of the Los Angeles Rams team. From one Ram team to another! Flash! The screen is changing rapidly to the city of New York where we now find Margaret Carrion and Imogene Clark, co-presidents of the Physical Educa tion and Recreational Association of the United States. These young ladies certainly went far. Music, gay light, laughter, and clapping are seen and heard as the great supersonic T. V. tube changes scenes. We are at the "El Bubble Club" in Las Vegas, owned by none other than Mary Helen Quijada. The famous Redman Girl Orchestra is being featured. Gary Redman, with his attraction for the opposite sex, has organized his own all girl orchestra which is really ritzy. As a^ main attraction of the evening, the "El Bubble Club is presenting the well-known Margaret Morin as the "Belle of New Orleans." What a show! But now the scene is once again changing and this time we're being taken to Missouri and the "Daily Sun" newspaper office. Why there's Sue Hunter! What could she be doing there? Oh, we see now — she is the editor, printer, and publisher of the "Daily Sun." Glad to see she reached her goal in journalism. What do we now see on the screen? Looks like a jet-propelled automobile. Pablo Leon who is a
Chevrolet dealer in Kalamazoo, Michigan, tells us that this is the new 1963 Chevrolet. He'd be very glad to let us test drive the new Chevy, but we must have life insurance! Tears and more tears are being shed by the woman who follows on the screen. Life can't be that bad, but Connie Vitela, who is advisor of the Lonely Heart's Club, says life is worse now that her high school sweetheart, Alfredo Vasquez, has given up his love for her to become the "Great Hunter," the name that he was given when he shot a rabbit and two worms in one shot. The scene flashes to a large drum and bugle corps which is marching down the street of Calexico, Cali fornia. Upon inquiring who is their instructor we are given a reply of-, "Miss Drummond," who is Victoria Alvarez. We know she always wanted to be a drum mer, but who ever dreamed that she'd become an in structor. We aren’t a bit surprised to discover next that Roger Ray is the great music professor at Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah. Our screen seems to become sort-of-foamy. The professors, Coon and Wombacher, are trying ot clear it up, but they don't seem to be getting very far. Well, no wonder it isn't the screen's fault, it's flying soap! It seems as though Beatrice Otero is making a soap mixture stronger than Lifebuoy. She said she is tired of everyone calling her "B. O.," so she's determined to create a stronger detergent for bodily odor. The strains of "On For Mingus" is heard and zingo, Mingus High School appears on the screen. And here comes the new girl's physical education teacher. Miss Virginia Montantes. She took over for Miss Thomas upon retirement. What a coincidence — here comes the large 62 passenger bus in which we rode up and down the hill so many times. No, Ralph isn't driving it — Charles Williams is. He is the MHS bus driver, janitor and maintenance man. It's really swell to see the ole' school once again. "What's next, Jelly-Belly?" Oh, you say that we are on our way to Paris, France? Well, well, sure enough there's Paris and there seems to be lots of business going on in that exclusive shop. No wonder! It's the famous Pierre Contrer's Hair Stylist Shop. There is Raymond Contreras giving last minute instructions to one of his 95 hair stylists. Goodness, how the Paris ians go for fancy hair styles! The scene on our T. V. screen is moving rapidly. Crash! It stops! We're back in Arizona and down Camp Verde way. Remember what a small town it was? Well, it has at last blossomed forth and is now the largest city of Arizona. There seems to be an in auguration going on. There certainly is! For the new Camp Verde mayor is being inaugurated into office. How familiar the mayor looks. Why, it's Pat Whitnell! She finally succeeded in getting a job and making her home in Camp Verde, her old high school day's hang out. "Professor Coon-Ball, how many graduates are we lacking?" Only one which is Antonette Cambruzzi. "Turn on your supersonic T. V. tube and el® see what becomes of her." There she is — why, s e president of the "Well-Known" Annual Printing ° pany.
