Jimmie Lewis, owner of that famous circus "The Flea,' is host tonight to the Class of '52. Jimmie began with a troupe of trained dogs presenting National As sembly programs, but finally worked up into the big time. We find that a great many members of the 1952 class are now employed· by him and they will furnish the entertainment.

Lindner, piccolo player, who has mastered the tech nique of imitating the love call of the mongoose. Leading the band are two fast-stepping majorettes, the Twinkletoes Twirlers, Crystal Blinn and Marcia Gar butt. Who else could do what these two do - walk on their hands and twirl with their toes? When these two beauties are not occupied with circus activities they are busy raising Guppies.

The class is gathered together to celebrate the com pletion of the 95th tunnel dug by our own Beebe Rae Davenport, one and only Lady Sandhog. Beebe leads her crew on a motor scooter which is equipped with a jet-ray. When asked why she chose this profession she replied "One meets such interesting people."

Competition with the band is furnished when Paul and Pat and their brood of twelve arrive. Paul's motto is "It's cheaper by the dozen", but Pat has about decided to head for the hills of Oklahoma. She had such an easy life there - appeared only nine times a d ay in a medicine show selling Hadacol.

First on the program is Arnold Escobedo who rolls 'em in the aisle by his hilarious antics as Jo-Jo the dog-face boy. Arnold has had many offers from Bung ling Brothers Circus, but refuses io leave "The Flea".

Careening into the ring on a one-wheel bicycle is none other than Jerome Diaz. Peddling rapidly along in his wake is Don Livingston on a tricycle. After cir cling the arena at a dizzy clip the two daredevils hop off their velocipedes and shinny up a tall pole which has a platform at the top. From there they dive 300 feet - into a wet sponge.

Jerry Vojnic, a well-known soprano who is replacing Lily Pons at the Metropolitan Opera, drove Arnold out of the sawdust ring by his rendition of an aria from Pagliacci. A close look at the dashing ringmaster reveals him to be none other than John Vitela. He cracks a wicked whip over all the acts in the ring. This is his chance to show off--at home he gels the whip cracked over him.

PEANUTS, POPCORN, PINK POP 1 I l This is the cry of Ernest Lopez, the wealthy peanut vendor. Ernest got his start when he renewed his friendship with Frank Vladich the Goober farm magnate from Missouri. Frank's farm is a research center for the manufacture of plas tic flying saucers.

The next performer to be announced is Joe Varela, better known as "The Human Stringbean". He has suc ceeded in dodging the draft all these years and is now a sensational pole balancer. Riding in on the head of the lead elephant Sadie, is that glamorous toe-dancer, Ernestine Gerola, who does a beautiful dance on the back of her elephant. While Ernie is performing this unusual feat the elephants are being put thru their paces by none other than Alphonso ''Sabu" Ulivarri, elephant trainer extraordinaire. Seat�d in one of the ringside seats is Alice Smith, head of the Blurp Matrimonial Agency. Since she couldn't decide between her many boy friends she found herself out in the cold and now spends her time trying to make others miserable too. All eyes turn upward as three glittering figures are seen swooping around. Flying thru the air with the greatest of ease is that renowned trio, "The Three Rich ards"-Montantes, Williams and Sanchez. Their daring feats high above the heads of the crowd bring gasps of amazement. These three, not to be outdone by one an other, have married triplets and are now all raising twins.

The circus band which has been playing softly dur ing the preceding performances now blares forth. Mqes tro Alberto Rodriguez is conducting this brilliant assem blage. The most celebrated member of the band is Gene

A fanfare of trumpets announces the entry of Varela and Flores and their troupe of snow-white horses. Pilar and Jesus are bedecked in gorgeous costumes of pink spangles and purple feathers. They are a symphony of poetic beauty as they flit from horse to horse in a seriP.s of dazzling stunts. •

As a grand finale the most breathtaking of all the acts is introduced-Bill Wombacher and his ferocious lions, Nero, Claudius and Flavius. Nero, the most vicious, is sitting in the corner daintily sniffing a bouquet of pink carnations, sighing deeply all the while. Claudius is on a stool in the center of the ring busily polishing his nails. Flavius, the meekest of the three, is strolling around the cage licking an over-size lollipop. As Bill enters the cage the scene abruptly changes. All three lions stalk around the cage, growling fiercely, lashing their tails, and baring their teeth. Bill, however, mas ter£ully flips his whip, driving the lions to their assigned places. The crowd applauds loudly. As Bill bows and leaves the cage the lions casually unzip their skins, throw them to a corner of the cage, and there stand re vealed Tony (Nero) Martinez, Gilbert (Claudius) Mor ales and Felix ( Flavius) Frias - masquerading again. And so the members of t bid each other goodbye one twenty years hence.

We started back to school on Tuesday. It's been fun getting into the awing of our new Mingus High, seeing old friends and meeting news ones. Coach Snyder, Coach. DeVault, and the football team have been practicing for a week, getting the squad into shape. September 14

The Student C9Uncll held elections on Tuesday to name the Mingus High team and paper. The race was close, •• but- I· just heard ... we will now be known as the mighty "Rams" and the schoo1 paper is 10· be called the "Mingus T.imes". G.A.A. was organized this Thursday. Every sport-minded girl has joined. The new "M" sweaters are pearl gray with the club name, ''RumLler■" on the arm, You could never miss a Mingus High girl wc1'<ing down the street.

Dear Diary: 1

We saw the Rams in action for the first time when they scalped the Redskins of St. Johns 25-20. Our boys looked good, too, dressed in their ·new green and gold suits. Seventh hour the first pep rally was held in the auditorium with Marilyn, Henrietta, Sue and Beebe Rae leading yells. The new short corduroy dresses are really shrup. The first issue of "The Mingus Tlmes" was published today.

Deru ."')iary : After our first National Assembly on Wednes Did you, Diary, ever try to climb· a flag pole? day.the student body agreed that they would rather SEE the Steeplejack team, Mary and Jock, than BE one. We watched the steeplejacks put a fresh coat of paint on our flag pole ...I just hoard the sad news - c�rver defeated Mingus 37-7. The cheerleaders and many loyal fans went to Phoenix to se� the Rams and Monarchs play. Our school alma mater and fight song were chosen on a competitive basis. Beebe Rae and Maynard submitted the winning words. October 5

I just got home from the Kingman game, a thrilling deadlock, 19-19. The G.A.A.is sponsoring a dance for Boy's Ranch ... On Wednesday, Helen and Bertha were elected jun.ior high cheer leaders. We beat Cottonwood tonight 31-6. Last night our band and cheerleaders planned a biq rally at Clarkdale where we burned you guess-a Cottonwood devil. On Wednesday the final softball game was played and the Giants proved lo be champions.

The seventh grade girls acled out lhe Manger scene, qnd the junior high band made their fire! appearance. Carol and Armida tap danced, Janice and Marcia aang Chriatmas carols and Lavlnnia also did a vocal number. The dance band furnished the real of the music. In fact, they spent all last week marching up and down the street, of Clarkdale trying to make their "tootsies" do right flanks, forward marchea and about faces.
