SENIOR OFFICERS

The senior year of any class is the busiest and perhaps, the most important. Strong and capable leadership is needed to guide and direct the class's activities. Vicki Jo Patterson, our competent and industrious president, has continually set a good exÂ ample for us to follow. Mike Morris, our vice president, has contributed much to our success through his hard work and support in all our class projects. John Parker has uniquely fulfilled his job as secretary by combining the qualities of neatness and dependability in keeping the records of our class meetings and correspondence. Our treasurer, Susan Cranmer, has done a commendable job in collecting our class dues and recording the frequent class transactions. Our senior representatives to the Student Council, Doreen Foster and Frank Ogden, have utilized well their privilege to represent and express the opinions and ideals of the senior class. Last, but by all means not least, are our social directors Janice Benatz and Dan Young, who have guided us invaluably this past year in all our social events.

Juniors were in everything, and they were everywhere. All worked enthusiastically on the prom, which led to a huge success. â–

The class rings were a big hit and for days everyone was showing off their rings.

A special applause must be given for Mr. Ryan and Mr. Nelson, the class sponsors.

As this year comes to a close the Juniors began to look for another year. They are sure it will be the most successful yet.

In the fall they held their annual "Sweet heart Ball.” Raising sheep, growingchilies, and running fruit stands are just a few of the many projects for raising funds for the treas ury. BAND Whether at a football game, a pep assembly, or in a parade the band always complements the occasion. Their brilliance at these functions is not merely a spontaneous effort. It is rather a result of constant work, much of it during their own time, to improve their proficience.

In November the band took part in a Thanksgiving concert, and in December they gave a stirring rendition of Leroy Andersons, and Mozarts Sleigh Ride. The band also participates in the Spring Festivals.

CHORAL GROUPS The choruses are to be commended this year for the excellent job they have done in earning recognition. During December, both choruses present ed a Christmas Con cert in conjunction with the band. In January, the Acapella chorus presented a program at the in stallation of the Jerome postmaster. With the fine guidance and inspiration of 2 coaches, Mr. Richmond and Mr. Barbarick, the Big Reds compiled a season record of 7 wins and 2 losses. The Marauders, sup ported by a heavy line and speedy backfields, played fine ball all year. Even when the breaks were against them they displayed sportsmanship and determination that earned them admiration and respect from both friends and opponents. The fire and drive demonstrated by this ball club when facing larger, but not tougher, opponents will serve as an example for future teams at M. U. H. S. for years to come. They proved incontrovertibly that it's not how many you win or lose but how you play the game.

The Mingus Union basketball team under the direction of Coach Richmond experienced a frustrating but rewarding season. The team being composed of only four seniors faced a rugged season. Though starting slow, the boys shaped up into a good, well-balanced team. Our basketball team has been a true credit to our athletic program.
