The Senior Class of 1959 presents the Hi-Lo, the first annual of the n'dw Mingus Union High School. The staff has chosen Hi-Lo as the name because it distinctly describes the localeof our area."Hi" represents the mountains which almost surround us, and partic ularly the Mingus or Black Hills Range towering above on the west. "Lo" is symbolic of our Verde Valley. Students who live in Jerome and Clarkdale clearly represent the "Hi" part, since Jerome is on a mountain and Clarkdale on the foothills. Students from Cottonwood and the Oak Creek district represent the "Lo" parf-the Verde Valley—extending
into the
distance to meet the mountains. . We believe that this annual is-evidence of the spirit co-operation, and understand ing that have been shown by both the faculty and stddec^oocJy throughout this first year of Mingus Union High School

We, the Class of 1959, choose to dedicate this yearbook, Hi-Lo, to the Senior Class of Min gus Union High School. Faced with the hardship of forming a new Union High School, we have shown a keen interest in that school and a willingness to work together. Our co-operation with the faculty and fellow students has been outstanding. We have upheld our school's name with honor and respect. The Senior Class of 1959 is re-united at a steak fry Edith Pecharich and Patsi Peterson are greeting their fellow classmates with a big handshake and a long talk with each. First to arrive on scene are Dwayne Brown and Ruth Ann Chilton, who are now King and Queen of Timbuktu What's this coming? Oh, it's just Cathy Snoddy and Carolyn Patrick arriving in their famous space car known as the ZERO Boy! Look at that good looking guy! Why it's Jimmy Jackson! He surely is conceited now that he is in showbiz and has Marilyn Norton as a secretary. Good heavens! What's this coming? A space jet1 And who should be climbing out of it but Bill Gilbert, pilot, Bill Simmons, Co-pilot; James Edens; Marvin Kallsen; and Larry Langford. They are now the great builders of space jets .

Why, here's Ellen Travis sober as a Judge and, believe it or not, she is a Judge. Louis Gauna feels quite proud of himself wearing that sheriff star—rather conceited, too. Jana Gipson didn't be come a secretary after all. She became a Wave. Funny coincidence . .
