Westin Hotel Perth Westin Hotel is one of Perth’s new luxury accomodation spots located in the heart of the central business district. On the ground floor of the 368-room five-star hotel sits Garum Restaurant owned by celebrity chef Guy Grossi. As part of the $2M AV fitout of Westin Hotel, two outdoor areas within the venue — the hotel terrace and the alfresco outside Garum Restaurant — required an audio solution for providing background music. The brief was threefold: the solution had to sufficiently cover the area with a ±1.5dB SPL variance, it had to be IP-rated to withstand the weather and it had to look good. In addition, there was a limit on how much spill could be tolerated as a the Garum’s front entrance faces an apartment block. Additionally, the beam-slatted roofing in Westin Hotel restricted the type of speaker the integrators could install, but fortunately the narrow width of the Python-KP52 loudspeaker, along with its precise dispersion, made it fit literally like a glove.

Warehouse Hotel The building’s owners wanted to create an interior for the Warehouse Hotel that recognizes the hotel’s origins as a river warehouse and storage during the the height of spice trade in the late 1800s, so designers produced a stylish and industrial-chic design with a signature triple-pitched roof, original masonry walls and high ceilings in the lobby bar and reception focal points of the hotel. To create the perfect ambiance for these areas, the boutique hotel was in need of an audio solution that provided high-quality sound but would not disturb the eclectic aesthetics. The high ceilings and the reflective glass surfaces provided additional challenges but by virtue of a K-array line array system with long throw and the capability to focus the sound to the sitting area, reverberation was reduced providing owners with a high-performing sound with good clarity using a small number of loudspeakers.

Wiesergut Hotel The Wiesergut Boutique Hotel was transformed from a 14th century family estate into a modern retreat that exudes organic warmth and comfort. The renovation project, headed up by the architectural firm Gogl & Partner, has created a distinctive alpine hideaway distinguished by its modern design and integration with nature. A fixed installation of a modern sound system was an important component of the renovation plan so the architects selected a system composed of K-array point sources for calm background music throughout the entire hotel after owners, architects and planners alike were impressed with their design and performance. The audio system was installed in no less than eleven areas: the restaurant, lobby, tea room, restrooms, dressing rooms, reception, and the fitness and wellness areas.

Nobu Resort at Eden Roc Miami Nobu Hotels and Eden Roc Resort Miami Beach joined forces to develop the multi-million dollar, hotel within a hotel, Nobu Hotel at Eden Roc Miami Beach. Interior designers took to ensure lush and natural elements were fused with contemporary finishes in the modern and elegant setting. This fusion, which is a core thread of Nobu, was also required for the hotel’s acoustics in the restaurant, bar and hotel lobby. The three distinct areas combine to form one large open space, so integrators needed products that had good dispersion but control to avoid sound overlap.

This architectural gem has been created and fitted with premium materials and design elements with the aspiration to satisfy all the requirements of discerning guests. Naturally, a good quality sound system with next-to-no visual impact was a must so the interior designers were completely satified by K-array’s discreet audio solutions that were installed in the bar, restaurant, smoker’s lounge, the terrace, the fitness room, the wellness center and in every suite.

Moxy Times Square Hotel Moxy Times Square is the NY flagship of Marriott’s edgier hotel alternative complete with four eateries, the largest all-season rooftop lounge in NYC and a mini golf course. Hotel management requested an audio system for each main common area to perform with high clarity at low levels while providing background music with the ability to hold together at high volume levels when the spaces are transformed into high-energy parties. The areas – which included the Legasea Restaurant & Bar, the rooftop Magic Hour Bar & Lounge and Foreplay putt-putt golf course and the three-floor atrium of the hotel containing the main lobby on the first floor and the Bar Moxy and lounge and the Pickup Cafeteria on the second floor – all had different complex requirements that were met by K-array audio soluitons.

Food is a obviously a big part of a positive dining experience, but the atmosphere of the venue is not any less important. The acoustics of the venue carries more weight than most owner of restaurants think. When diners aren’t able to communicate because of strong reverberations of other conversations and other noise sources like utensils, dishes and glasses clinking, the entire experience is compromised. At K-array, when we approach the design of a sound system for a dining establishment, we take all these aspects in into consideration. Our Pure Array Technology line array elements guarantee a uniform sound pressure level in the distance meaning that not only the people sitting furthest from the speakers can hear it clearly but also the people sitting closest to the speakers are not disturbed.

Brixton Upstairs Upstairs Brixton is as a laid back rooftop members’ club that regularly hosts events such as live performances and DJ weekends, comedy, gin and whiskey tasting, launch parties and orchestral recitals – all requiring high quality sound reinforcement in varying degrees. When the previous audio system was deemed to be unserviceable, with no potential left for expansion, the owners requested a solution that would totally modernize the venue, and give them a flexible configuration that would allow several different sources to be routed into combinations of zones throughout the venue depending on the event taking place. Recognizing that a high-quality line array speaker system would be required from an acoustic perspective, K-array was an obvious choice for management.

Luigia Gourmet Pizzeria Housed in a refurbished vintage theater in the center of town, Luigia is a traditional wood-fire oven pizzeria in Lausanne. The interior design commemorates Luigia’s past life as a cinema with high-glass ceilings that let in ample zenithal daylight, a fan shape typical of last century’s elegant movie halls and an important movie sceen. A high-end K-array sound system was designed for the main dining area, the bar and the children’s cinema to provide an authentic cinema experience with powerful, yet pleasant reinforcement audio solutions for Luigia’s diners.

Schmiedhof Alm Ski Lodge Situated in the heart of the Alps at 1,720m above sea level, the Schmiedhofalm Ski Lodge in Zell am See, Austria recently underwent renovations to accommodate a larger crowd of up to 300 people in addition to offering live music. A complete system was designed to meet the acoustic needs of a modern event and dining facility as well as the demands of the owners in a total of six individually-controlled zones for the main bar, restaurant, outside bar and terrace. Several different input sources were connected: a computer, the TV signal and also a connection point for external mp3 players were installed. The system even allows bands and performers to connect their system to the house system and vice versa.

Migas Mercados Restaurant When it came to equipping Migas Mercado, a new Spanish restaurant and music venue in Beijing, the owner – who is known in the hospitality circuit for his previous experience working in one of Ibiza’s legendary nightclubs and consequently has a wealth of loudspeaker knowledge – turned to K-array for the audio solution. The sound requirements for the restaurant and bar were to meet appropriate SPLs ensuring that conversations simultaneously still flowed and to install speaker cabinets that didn’t overwhelm the décor. Additionally, a raised VIP dining room which doubles as a stage for regular live music nights needed to be suitably equipped.

Standard Dining Club Standard Dining Club in São Paulo is a combination of international cusine, beautiful interior design and modern technology to give its customers a sensorial experience through light, video and sound. The architects’ scope of the 365-sq. meters space is to harmonize natural elements like slate and marble, with the most advanced visual tecnologies, like mapped projection and sound reinforcement. Because of this unique concept, the biggest challenge at the Standard was to integrate a space capable to host live music and DJs performances without losing its architectural sophistication. Even more, the parametric forms of the walls, the reserved space for mapped projection and the low celling made the positioning of speakers a big challenge that was solved by K-array.

Franzl Schmitten Ski Resort Restaurant The Franzl Schmitten ski resort perched high above Lake Zell in Zell am See lies right at the heart of the Salzburger region on the sunny side of Austria. The Panorama Restaurant within the ski resort offers a breathtaking view and delicious meals to skiers and visitors alike. The lodge is equipped with an extra-large sun terrace with glass fronts, a 60-seat restaurant and bar, along with a lovely decorated kids area. To provide customers with pleasant background music to enhance their dining experience while resting between runs, owners called upon ski resort sound systems specialist, Pinzgauer Musikhaus. Due to the compact form and weather resistant capabilites of the Domino-KF26, the integrators outfitted the entire lodge with 22 of the full-range loudspeakers with 10 recessed in the ceiling. The loudspeakers were powered by 4 Kommander-KA24 amplifiers.

Including two mid-high loudspeakers, a subwoofer, an amplifier and a covert remote control, the Azimut is a complete audio solution in a miniature package. The Azimut boasts plug and play capabilities with Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports and mini jack input. Hundreds of thousands of songs are available to you through onboard Spotify and Web Radio streaming by connecting to Wi-Fi using the system’s onboard software. The Python is a discreet passive speaker comprised of 3.15� drivers housed in a resistant stainless steel frame rendering it resistant to corrosion, rust or stain - perfect for a great variety of both indoor and outdoor applications. The Python line contains two sizes: a half meter-long model, KK52 I, and meter-long model, KK102 I, and can reproduce the whole vocal frequency range with high intelligibility. The Vyper line is the flattest speaker in the K-array portfolio. The passive speaker system is housed in an elegant and resistant 2�-deep aluminum frame turned on a lathe from a solid metal block. With closely-spaced cone drivers, the Vyper demonstrates true line array characteristics: phase coherence, low distortion and focused listening in both the near field and at a distance from the speaker. This Pure Array Technology allows the Vyper to cover venues uniformly and provide long throw. For easier use and integration with other speakers or amplifiers, the Vypers feature selectable impedance and when paired with one of the subwoofers in the Rumble line, powered by a Kommander amplifier with specific presets optimized for the Vyper, the loudspeaker assures excellent coverage of the entire musical frequency range. A steel bracket accessory provides an option to mount wall application for permanent installations. With a miniature form for easy hiding, the Lyzard is a remarkably micro line of loudspeakers comprised of the Lyzard-KZ1 and Lyzard-KZ14 designed for discreet use in a variety of intimate environments such as retail, restaurants, bars and museums. Milled from a single bar of alumium, the durable and resistant enclosure contains full-range driver(s) that produce high intelligibility and coherent coverage with crystal clear audio making it ideal for use in space constrained situations. Lyzards can be integrated with the Rumble and Truffle sub bass lines, extending the frequency range to 35 Hz. The Lyzard is an installer’s dream with the inclusion of a magnetic adhesive plate to affix to the wall which then attracts to the back of the speaker’s ferritic stainless steel plate. For a more permanent installation, the introduction of a hidden through-hole allows for more secure mounting. Easier connection is also attainable with a 2-pin Phoenix connector designed to hide cables for maximum discreetness. Taking advantage of the efficiency of 2� transducers designed and produced by K-array, the Tornado series is compact sound sources designed for high-quality distributed systems. Distinguished from all our line array solutions, the KT2, KT2C, KTL2, KTL2C are point sources of excellence housed in an aluminum enclosure carved entirely from a single metal block which helps to disseminate heat produced by the loudspeakers and maximize performance. Suitable for space-sensitive and architectural design installations, the Tornado line is a turnkey solution designed as passive speakers that can be easily converted into self-powered devices by inserting the Tornadospecific amplifier module. With the ability to effortlessly reproduce both speech and music, the Tornado line is an excellent choice for fixed applications such as theaters, museum displays, restaurants, and retail and in hidden locations such as the chancel steps in houses of worship. Domino Full-range, compact passive stainless steel speakers
K-array’s full-range speaker line, Domino, are stainless steel compact speakers with plug and play capabilities that do not require presets. They can be driven by any amplifier making it the perfect solution for applications with subwoofer restrictions from intimate restaurants to live concert. The line consists of three speakers: the KF26, the KF210 and the KF212. Like the tiles from the popular game, the Domino line boasts an impressive diminutive depth and a lightweight form. The speakers are comprised of two neodymium magnet drivers coaxially mounted plus a passive radiator to extend the bass response in the lower end frequencies. Domino speakers have selectable impedance and wide horizontal and vertical coverage. Designed as a passive speaker, the smallest of the trio, the KF26, can be transformed into a self-powered speaker just by inserting the specific amplifier accessory, KA1-FF. The Domino line is accompanied by several product-specific accessories that can enhance the system’s setup. Our Thunder line gives you all the boom with bass you need for installation applications. With both passive and active models in various sizes starting from 12” to 21” and dual 18”, the Thunder line is a high performance sub-bass system featuring a woofer with magnet structure and suspension engineered for maximum linear excursion. The subwoofers – KMT12P, KMT12, KMT18P, KMT18, KMT21P KMT21, KMT218 and KMT218P – contain a unique four-corner port configuration which provides symmetrical back loading to the speakers for extended bass response with very low distortion and provides incredible structural strength to the cabinet despite its light weight. Pocket handles and an M20 thread mount position for attaching mid-high speakers make the subwoofers convenient to use and ideal for applications in theaters, concert halls, and restaurant installations. More than just powered subwoofers, our active models depart from traditional subs in that their “smart” design puts electronics as the central component, transforming the mid-low frequency loudspeaker into a proper tool for the management and processing of the audio signal. These multi-tasking subwoofers include an integrated touch screen providing intuitive control over the main DSP functions, two balanced analog line level inputs and a two-channel AES/EBU digital input, and an onboard Class D amplifier. It’s possible to connect a wide array of passive speakers including mid-high models or additional passive subwoofers. To optimize performance, the onboard DSP includes up to 40 programmable presets. The first 8 have been designed by K-array, the additional 32 slots can be used to create, save, and store personal presets using the K-framework software. And with the K-dante accessory, the subwoofers are able to connect to the Dante network for audio and data transmissions.

Components from the K-array subwoofer line, Rumble, have been conceived to create a smaller, yet extremely powerful bass system engineered for maximum linear excursion and minimum residual noise. The Rumble line is a companion to the K-array Lyzard, Vyper, Tornado and Anakonda speakers. The combination provides full range frequency response with prodigious output and a virtually invisible profile. The subwoofers, KU26, KU44, KU210 and KU212, all boast extended low frequency response and are electronically protected. The subs are made entirely of steel, making them extremely resistant, even when deployed outside in tough weather conditions. This is ideal for water-front environments where ordinary bass speakers would corrode. They are impenetrable by foreign objects like dust, sand or water, which over time can damage an ordinary audio element. Rumble is available in black or white with the option for customization with RAL colors and brushed, polished and 24K gold plated finishes to adapt to the aesthetics for almost all applications and includes integrated flying points for various setups. A variety of dedicated hardware accessories provide designers with numerous mounting options for permanent and portable installations best suited for theaters and other venues where invisible line arrays are ideal. Other applications vary from hotels and churches to pubs and restaurants as well as stores and conferences.

Taking command of the controls, K-array’s line of power amplifiers, Kommander, is comprised of the KA14, KA24 and KA84. The versatile line features four fully-independent and configurable output channels and the integrated DSP offers EQ, Matrix, Levels, Delays and a Limiter to avoid the need for additional external processors. The front panel has an easy-to-use touchscreen that gives access to all the basic functions for quick setup. Kommander line is a complete system and can be used as a mixer for fixed installations thanks to the XLR and RCA analog inputs. An onboard library preset with K-array speaker gives an optimal and easy configuration for endless combinations with the Lyzard, Vyper, Tornado and Rumble loudspeaker lines. All DSP functions are remote controlled via the K-framework software over USB connector. The amplifier is built into a lightweight yet tough 2U chassis and comes with a kit of removable rack adapters and four rubber pads for flat surfaces. Kommander amplifiers feature optical limiters and protection against overheating, overcurrent and short circuits to command all your system’s needs.
