Seller will be liable only to the extent of the purchase price in any settlement or adjustment made on the bull that proves to be a non-breeder. Welcome to our 7th Annual Bull Sale.We are celebrating 64 years in the seedstock business! We feel we have a really good set of bulls, that have been fed right and are ready to go to work for you.
Investing in performance driven cattle is going to pay big dividends over the next few years with the record low cow numbers and strong consumer demand. The old adage pounds pay, is so true but often overlooked.Take advantage of heterosis and the extra pounds that good performance cattle will deliver – you will be rewarded.
Genomic testing has been done on all the bulls, as has scanning for carcass traits, rate of gain figures and scrotal measures which will be on a supplement sheet sale day. All the bulls will have videos. The videos will be up well in advance of the sale on DV Auction and there will be live bidding available sale day. For those who wish to be on the phone or leave bids with someone, contact us in advance so we can handle it in the most efficient manner.
Feel free to call us with any questions or if you want to view the bulls at the farm before they got to Dunlap on the 26th. As usual there will be complimentary lunch served in the Bull Pen Diner, so come early and view the bulls and have lunch on us.
Thanks for your interest,
The bulls have been developed on the same ration as past years – a high roughage ration, that is stepped up slowly over the course of the 128 day feed test that also included a 30 day warmup period. The ration is designed to insure that the bulls are not fat but give you the commercial cattleperson, an idea of how their offspring will perform. The ration consists of grass/legume mixed hay, silage and grain mix. We would like to thank Brent Young with Northern Country CO-OP, for his nutrition guidance.
The EPDs in the catalog are the newest at time of print, February 2026. All additional and updated information will be printed and available to all prospective buyers upon arrival.
Charolais NonParent breed averages:

TSI:
Terminal
Index (TSI) — The AICA
Terminal Sire Index is a formal method of combing Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) – BWT, WWT, YWT, REA, HCW, MARB and FAT – into one single value on which to base selection decisions. The TSI uses estimates of the genetic relationships between traits with an economic default value based on three year rolling USDA data.
P ros:
Profitability and Sustainability is an all-purpose index that predicts average economic differences in all segments in the beef supply chain. This index is a combination of the breeding objectives modeled in the HerdBuilder and GridMaster selection indexes. In this index, replacement heifers are retained from within the herd and all remaining progeny are fed out to slaughter and sold on a quality-based grid. Traits included in this index include calving ease, growth, HPG, STAY, Mature Weight, Dry Matter Intake and carcass traits. The resulting index is expressed in dollars per head born (Index/High Value).
HB:
HerdBuilder is a maternal selection index that predicts the economic differences of animals for traits that are important from conception through weaning. Expressed as dollars per head born, HB is calculated based on the scenario that bulls are mated to heifers and cows, replacement heifers are retained and all remaining progeny are marketed at weaning. Traits included in the HB index include CED, CEM, WW, Milk, Mature Weight, HPG and STAY (Index/High Value).
GM:
GridMaster is a selection index that predicts the average economic difference of non-replacement calves through the postweaning phase of production. GM places selection pressure on growth, feedyard performance and carcass traits. Expressed as dollars per head born, GM is calculated based on the scenario that progeny are fed out to slaughter and marketed on a quality-based carcass grid. Traits included in GM include ADG, CW, DMI, Marb, Fat and REA (Index/High Value).

An LT Marksman son who carries excellent performance. His mother is quite possibly the best Ledger daughter we have ever had. She is 11 years old and still looks like a 5 year old cow! One of the best ways for a cow to be profitable is for her to have longevity, and sons of old cows should carry that potential on to their daughters. Top 4% Udder, Teat; top 7% SC; top 25% YW.
