WELCOME

FRIENDS & FELLOW CATTLEMEN TO THE

THIRD ANNUAL BULL SALE

Hello fellow cattlemen!

Welcome to our Third Annual Bull Sale. SHB Angus in Reardan, Washington and Gardiner Prime Angus in Bonners Ferry, Idaho are proud to bring you the best of our programs this year. As you know, both of our programs’ focus is herd improvement through genetic selection. Make no mistake, genetics are important. The Angus Association reports the value of genetics has come to be the primary differentiator in the marketplace. What has become remarkable in our business is the pace the bar is rising. We would all probably agree that excellent cattle 5 years ago are average cattle today. As breeders, we strive each year to improve the animal and its product -- tender and delicious meat, what Angus cattle are known for.

The Association tells us the improvements we make in the quality and efficiency of Angus cattle bring more dollars to the industry. And not only do Angus genetics relate directly to profitability, they are also the best way to mitigate risk. Over the years it has become apparent that genetics prove the accuracy of the EPDs we rely on. This allows us to concentrate our programs on the traits we seek to improve within an overall package that does not sacrifice the basic fitness of the animal that produces and nurtures each year’s calves.

We are happy to present our respective top breeding bulls jointly for the third consecutive year. These sale bulls were developed together at SHB Angus for most of the winter. We are thankful for the overall good health they enjoyed this year. As last year, the sale will follow a video-only format with all sale bulls physically present at the SHB sale barn for viewing on sale day, or before. The sale facility and feed lot are conveniently located off N. Wood Rd. in Reardan, Washington. All sale bulls have been housed and fed at this facility. All visitors are welcome to view the bulls any time of day.

Come early, view the bulls and join us for lunch prior to the sale. Lunch will be served at noon with the sale starting at 1:00 p.m. DVAuction will be there to broadcast the sale live online. Videos of the bulls will be available approximately two weeks before the sale on the DVAuction website, also at SHBangus.com and Gardinerprimeangus.com. Come visit online or at our respective ranches and call us anytime. Thank you for your friendship and support. We look forward to visiting with you on sale day or before!

Dear Friends and Fellow Cattlemen,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to each of you for our 3rd Annual Bull Sale being held at our ranch. It’s been a privilege to serve you and to work alongside so many great cattlemen over the years. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and we’re grateful for the trust you’ve placed in our program.

The 2026 sale bulls feature the deepest, most uniform set of bulls we have ever offered. These bulls are backed by a cow herd with generations of maternal strength and real world performance, cattle built for consistency and long-term returns. This offering reflects the direction of our program and provides excellent value in today’s cattle industry, whether your goals are strengthening maternal value or adding pounds and uniformity to your calf crop. We are confident you will find cattle to fit your operation.

GALAXY GROWTH FUND 1220

GALAXY GROWTH FUND 1220 :: SIRE OF LOTS 10-16

We got a tip on this sire before he sold as a yearling, and his undeniable power and presence, coupled with his phenomenal data package, convinced us that we needed to own the bull. He’s been all we expected and more, he is one of those bulls that has looked great at every stage and on every day, and his progeny are proving him to be a prepotent sire of low birthweight, high performance cattle, with great carcass traits. And the best part is, he’s not just a “numbers” bull, the cattle look consistently stout and powerful, with his first crop of sons rising to the top as favorites. One of only two daughters from his first calf crop was chosen as the Pick Of the 2023 SHB Heifers that we donated in last year’s sale to help with the medical expenses for the Dain Rad family. Deep, wedge-shaped, and with perfect udders, the females may yet be the bull’s strongest attribute. You’ll see him used more heavily going forward in our program!

BALDRIDGE VERSATILE

BALDRIDGE VERSATILE :: SIRE OF LOTS 1-9

We bought into the Baldridge Versatile bull when he sold for $250,000 in 2021, joining a syndicate of Angus breeders. He has proven to be a good investment, with his now progeny proven EPD’s showing him to be a calving ease bull with strong growth, and breedleading Docility and Marbling, ranking in the top 1% for both traits. As an added bonus, possibly his best attribute will be the females he sires, with his first calved daughters impressing all who’ve used him with their gentle natures, and with their perfect, well attached udders, with small teats.

SITZ ETERNITY 739L

Leading the 2024 Sitz Angus sale, Eternity impressed many astute breeders with his captivating presence, impeccable structure, and flawless feet. If you are seeking style, performance, and extension in a killer look, set your eyes towards Eternity. Backed by the maternal matriarch 200B, use Eternity with confidence to elevate your herd with maternal performance. Boasting an actual PAP score of 37, Eternity is the high elevation, power bull to take your herd to the next level.

Baldridge Working Class came to the top as the $70,000 top-selling lead bull of the record-setting 2024 Baldridge Performance Angus Sale and the headliner of the largest sire group of 47 Blue Collar sons that sold for an average of $11,149 with 46 sons of his sire featured as the largest sire group there again in 2025 where they commanded an average of $13,446 and were headlined by the $80,000 top selling bull selected by Krebs Ranch.

STEVENSON OPTIMUM 20027

We purchased Optimum as the second high-selling bull in the 2023 Stevenson sale. He writes a tremendous “spread” EPD script, ranking in the breed’s top 1% for CED, yet siring tremendous growth performance. High for Heifer Pregnancy, and strong for the carcass traits as well, some of the best bulls selling today will be his sons. Top 2% for $Weaning

Jumbo was a $65,000 feature of the 2022 Basin Bull Sale despite being one of the youngest bulls in that record-setting sale, and his first progeny have performed at a very high level for growth and for the carcass traits, helping to drive his $Indexes to the top of the breed, with his $Beef and $Combined indexes both in the top 5%. Top 15% for both Marbling and Ribeye, and top 10% for Claw.

RANCHER TESTIMONIAL

We have been using SHB bulls since 2012. Currently, half our bull battery are SHB bulls. We run in big steep country, the bulls hold up and get the job done. SHB has been purchasing heifers back from us, making replacement heifers out of some, and the ones that get finished have consistently graded 60% Choice 40% Prime. I call SHB bulls efficient, not chasing fads, but getting a complete package. Cow makers, carcass ability, and growth. SHB will also be very active in bidding on cattle sired by SHB bulls. That tells me they have the confidence in the product they are selling.

RANCHER TESTIMONIAL

Purchasing SHB bulls have improved our heifer program. Beginning with the low birth weight calving ease, the vigor in the baby calves is quickly followed by steady growth and consistent weaning weights.

For us, just as important as the quality bulls we buy, is doing business with a quality outfit like SHB. We’ve enjoyed getting to know Ed and his family.

Hello and welcome to Gardiner Prime Angus. We are happy to partner with our friends at SHB Angus for our third annual bull sale. Both of us are strongly committed to herd improvement genetics in the traits producing market profit at time of sale. Solid breeding takes a lot of the guesswork out of it.

Over these years, we have been using bulls with good EPDs for calving ease and growth and we also kept a lot of carcass quality in the mix because those, down the chain of things, are what pay the bills. Better calves are coming from these selections. As a customer told us over the Christmas holidays, the calves from their GPAR bulls in the past several sales have grown “like weeds” so that they “had to do first vaccines younger so they fit in the calf chute.”

We have come to recognize that a big factor in the profitability of the operation is cattle that don’t fall out of the system because of bad feet, bad udders, or bad dispositions that as a practical matter reduce or even eliminate the advantage of those good EPDs. We focus on “$Maternal” here, or “$M,” one of the Association’s newer multi-trait $Value indexes. Before $M, the only index specific to the cow-calf producer was $Weaning, which was of limited value because while it addressed birth weight, weaning weight, maternal milk and mature cow size, it did not address heifer pregnancy, foot conformation or docility which $M includes along with each of the $W traits.

We are finding that the $M index helps sort through bulls that may have very similar numbers for Birth Weight, Growth and Milk, but may have dramatically different EPDs for Docility and Foot Quality, to name a couple of important ones. In our experience, the bulls that have a complete, no-holes EPD profile will possess very high rankings for $M, and particularly that those bulls with poor Foot Quality EPDs will drop noticeably for $M, even if they possess excellent Growth and Milk EPDs. This shows us that high number bulls and cows can prove disappointing if they don’t last for more than a few breeding seasons due to foot problems or teat and udder deficiencies.

What is exciting to us at GPAR is that even before the advent of $M, we were selecting for the traits it is composed of, without ignoring the fundamental Angus qualities of low birth weight, high growth and marbling. That is why we are so enthused about the $M index -- it rewards the correct traits. Our bulls selling in our sale this year are an excellent reflection of that.

Come visit us at GPAR any time, or on-line at www.gardinerprimeangus. com, or just call to talk cattle. We look forward to seeing you at the third annual SHB/GPAR bull sale on March 13!

HOOVER

Reality caused widespread excitement when ABS Global outlasted all other bidders to make him one of the 2022 season’s top sellers at $150,000! He has more than lived up to the high expectations set for him that day, siring phenotypically good cattle that go on to perform and top sales in their own right, with many sons going into purebred herds and A.I. studs. We love the overall quality in the cattle, and look forward to his daughters entering the herd, with his extreme improvement for Teat and Udder quality and their easy-fleshing, soft yet stout look.

HOFFMAN HIGH ROAD

High Road is an ST Genetics sire that packs about as much performance and stoutness in a low birth, calving-ease package as you’ll see anywhere. He really writes a great set of practical EPDs, and the top 15% Docility ranking is evident in his sons.

WOODHILL COMSTOCK

With super calving-ease, great feet, top carcass traits, and a stout muscular look in his sons, Comstock is proving to be a real breeding bull. He also ranks in the top 1% for $Maternal, and his sons are finding their way into bull studs as well. To quote what ABS Global says about Comstock: “If you find a bull that puts more together in person and on paper, you’d better use him!” The Association is going to release a Functional and Longevity EPD this spring, and preliminary data indicates Comstock will be among the breed’s leaders.

We attended the Sitz female sale where Dignity’s dam, Sitz Barbaramere Nell 53F, was the featured and high-selling cow, and we loved everything about her. As we took the opportunity to walk through the weaned bull calves at Sitz’s that day, we found a lot of cattle we liked a lot, but none more than the pen of Resilient sons. And in that pen one calf kept standing out, with his smooth, stout, clean, and muscular look. Upon investigation, he turned out to be the natural son of 53F! Following the bull on, when he sold to ABS Global that March, we were among the first to incorporate him into our program. Now with over 500 progeny on record, he is proven to be a breed changer for foot improvement, fertility, and muscle, and is well into the top 10% for the $Maternal index. Given his sire’s breed-leading Preliminary Research EPDs for udder and teat quality, and his dam’s own ideal udder structure, we feel confident that he will be an udder improver as well.

Connealy Clarify is very balanced in many of the more “conventional” traits of merit; like most current Angus sires he does a good job of combining calving ease and growth traits, plus he substantially moves the fertility traits in the right direction as well. Where he really starts to separate himself from most of the bulls out there, are his Foot EPDs, his carcass EPDs, and the combination indexes the breed has started to offer: $Energy, $Maternal, $Grid, $Beef, and $Combined. And we’re looking forward to the official rollout of the now-preliminary udder and teat EPDs, with his parentage we’re confident he’ll be very strong there as well. All of this comes in a very eye-appealing, sound, deep-bodied and stout visual package.
