INTERMITTENT FASTING

Intermittent Fasting is a term I’m sure everyone reading this has heard of. What is intermittent fasting and how does it work? Let's take a moment to unpack all these hypothetical, yet imperative questions you're asking me.

Rather than specifying what foods to eat, it guides people on when to eat–making it a dietary pattern rather than a diet in the traditional sense There’s various philosophies, and while approaches may differ, the idea is the same

So, does it actually work? Plain and simple, you can live a healthy lifestyle following intermittent fasting, so long as dietary needs are met, that’s the simple truth There are always occasions where it is not suitable including individuals with certain health conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and individuals with a history of eating disorders.

There is a lot of literature on the health benefits of intermittent fasting such as weight-loss, insulin sensitivity, heart health, inflammation, and longevity. It’s tricky because we start to dive into the realm of correlation and causation. For instance, there is no magic behind the method in terms of weight-loss. It’s all about calorie restriction, it just comes in a different package

People will often mystify new nutritional approaches hoping for that new method that will be the fix all As professionals, it’s up to us to remove the smoke and mirrors so that members can clearly see the picture. In the end it comes down to these three simple questions:

1.

2

Is it safe?

Can you do it over the long term?

Does it work? 3.
