MEMBER HIGHLIGHTS HONORING WHITNEY BROWNE FOR SUSTAINER OF THE YEAR Whitney stepped into the role of Treasurer after an unexpected vacancy occurred on the board. She rewrote the expectations for the role and what it means to be a team player. She supported the entire board, entertained our questions, and kept us fiscally sound for the whole year, even though her role was only supposed to be an interim position!
MARY HARRIMAN AWARD: SHEILA CORBISHLEY Over 1,000 apple pies in the course of 20 years! Pie making is synonymous with her name but that is only a small accolade on her long history of community involvement. Not only a supportive mother (and grandmother) but she has been a devoted community volunteer and teacher, who always went above and beyond; volunteering her time after school to help 6th grade students prepare for placement and entrance exams, organizing math-a-thons that raised money for St. Jude and coached successful drug quiz teams to help educate and encourage healthy lifestyles. Sheila continues to volunteer weekly at the Samaritan Center and maintain a community minded lifestyle as a sustainer, wife, mother and grandmother.
OUR CONGRATS TO... Sarah Serbun had a beautiful baby in the spring! We wish her the best as she navigates new motherhood. Nikki Davis got married this spring while serving as the Communications Vice President. Her ability to manage her leadership role and plan a wedding at the same time showcased her time management skills.

PADDLES READY? JLS PICKLEBALL LEAGUE IS IN FULL SWING! We came. We served. We may have missed a few shots. But most importantly—we had fun!
😄
The inaugural season of the JLS Pickleball League is officially underway! We started off small, with a few adventurous JLS members grabbing their paddles and hitting the courts, but what we may lack in numbers, we’ve definitely made up for in laughs, friendly competition, and fun.
Now we’d love to see more JLS members join us! We’ll keep the paddles swinging through the end of October 2026, weather permitting.
🏓 When: Thursdays at 6:00 PM 📍 Where: Duerr Park or Plank Road Park Never played pickleball before? No problem! Already have a killer serve? We want you too! Whether you’re an elite player, a total beginner, or just curious about what all the pickleball hype is about, come give it a try. There’s no pressure—just fresh air, a little exercise, lots of laughs, and a chance to spend time with your fellow JLS members. So grab a paddle, bring your game face (or your best attempt at one ), and meet us on the court!
😉
