OUR HERITAGE
The late Mr. Say Lip Hai, the man behind the Jack's Place chain of restaurants, arrived in Singapore from Hainan Island and started as a cookboy for British troops in Sembawang, where he mastered roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Having tasted one of Mr Say's now famous meals, a British housewife suggested that he start a catering business at her husband Jack Hunt's pub on Killiney Road. Thus in 1966, Jack’s Place opened for business. Shortly after, Jack Hunt sold his share of the business but his namesake ‘Jack the Chef’ is still running the kitchen today.

Jack’s Place has been a part of Singapore’s dining scene for 60 years, and I’m proud to be part of this celebration. The classics on this menu, especially the Classic Lobster Thermidor and the return of the N.Z. Tenderloin Steak with Seafood à la King, are close to my heart. These timeless favourites represent indulgence and comfort, and it’s a privilege to revisit flavours that have truly stood the test of time.
