Interchangeable Gullet Plate System (IGP) Information
The Interchangeable Gullet Plate System (IGP) is a unique design in saddle systems that provides flexibility and customization in order to achieve optimal fit that accommodates horses with varying back confirmation. It allows riders and saddle fitters to adjust the width of the gullet plate, which is a boomerang shaped metal bar that is attached to the underside of the pommel or arch of the tree. Every Henri de Rivel saddle equipped with the Interchangeable Gullet Plate System (IGP) comes with a Regular sized gullet plate to start. The Regular sized plate serves as a baseline size, suitable for fitting horses with an average width spine.
The IGP system includes sizes: Narrow, Regular, Medium, Medium-Wide, and X-wide, and each additional gullet plate can be bought separately or as the Adjustable Saddle Gullet Plate Set. Gullet plate measurements: Narrow 8 ¼”, Regular 8 ⅜”, Medium 9”, Medium-Wide 9 ⅜”, X-wide 9 ¾”

All Henri de Rivel saddles offer a 10 year warranty on their injection molded polymer saddle trees. Henri de Rivel employs cutting-edge technology in crafting their injection molded Polymer trees. Utilizing the finest quality Polymer, the molten material is precisely injected into molds, guaranteeing the production of exceptionally sturdy trees for all their saddles. Stainless steel stirrup bar and gullet plate are other features equipped in all Henri de Rivel saddles.
How To Fit a Saddle Using the Interchangeable Gullet Gauge
How To Use the Interchangeable Gullet System Gauge (All IGP saddles come with the tool needed to replace gullet plates)
Step 1: Determine the rear most point of the horse’s scapula.
Step 2: Place the interchangeable gullet gauge on the horse’s withers 1” - 1.5” behind the rear of the scapula ensuring that the “wither contact area” on the gauge is making uniform contact on both sides of the withers.
Step 3: The interchangeable tree gullet gauge indicator located on the top left side of the gauge will line up with the appropriate gullet size needed for the horse. In the event the indicator lands on an area where the gullet sizes intersect it might be necessary to assess the horse mine the best gullet size for the horse.
