DIGITAL YEAR

Jolly Classroom for Years 3-6 coming soon

Reception Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Year 6

Our foundation stage programme teaches the 5 key skills needed for reading and writing.

Children learn the letter sounds, letter formation, blending, segmenting, and tricky words.

The programme uses a multi-sensory approach, appealing to a wide range of learning styles, and can be adapted easily to specific learning needs.

It is the foundation for our Jolly Literacy programmes, which are introduced from Year 1.

This builds on Jolly Phonics and offers two programmes with resources covering Years 1 to 6.

Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation provides two lessons a week. It teaches new spelling patterns, dictionary and thesaurus skills, and complex grammatical concepts in an engaging and child-friendly way.

Reading Comprehension & Writing Skills provides two further weekly lessons. In the first, children explore a variety of rich texts that interweave the spelling, vocabulary and grammar learned earlier that week. The second lesson uses those texts as a springboard for stimulating ideas and introducing strategies to promote creative, independent writing.

Read and See

Ideal for blending, segmenting and vocabulary building

The Read and See books contain regular words that can be read by saying the sounds and blending them together. Children read the word and then turn the page to see the picture and find out if they are correct. They can use the sound dots under the picture to help them segment the word, pointing to each dot as they say the sound.

Literacy

Jolly Literacy

Jolly Literacy offers two programmes with resources covering Years 1 to 6.

Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation teaches spelling patterns, grammar, and punctuation through two weekly lessons using a fun, multisensory approach. Children learn dictionary and thesaurus skills, explore parts of speech, sentence structure, and build vocabulary and comprehension, with regular revision to reinforce progress.

Reading Comprehension & Writing Skills adds two lessons each week: one focused on rich texts linking to that week’s grammar and spelling, and one inspiring creative, independent writing.

Together, they give children the skills and confidence to read and write with enthusiasm.

Jolly Literacy can be taught in a variety of ways!

Who is Jolly English for?

Jolly English is an English language course that has been carefully developed and sequenced for pre-school children who have little or no knowledge of English.

Join Inky Mouse and her friends, Snake and Bee, as they discover new words and phrases using songs, games, chants and stories that bring the course to life and develop children’s English language. Can be used before or alongside Jolly Phonics, or as a standalone early learner’s English language course.

This comprehensive course enables teachers to embed essential English vocabulary and develop pupils’ awareness of the sounds of the English language. Vocabulary is introduced gradually and the introduction of phonics concepts is systematic, laying the foundations for the Jolly Phonics programme.

✔ Children are introduced to new words and phrases using the principle of Presentation and Practice

✔ Age-appropriate, multi-sensory activities using songs, chants, games and role-play

✔ All 42 sounds are introduced in the Jolly Phonics sequence with continuous revision and consolidation
