Project Compassion

Walk- a- thon Friday 27 March 2026

STAFF ALLOCATION

INTRODUCTION

Our 2026 Project Compassion Walk-A-Thon will take place on Friday 27 March during the assembly period (between Period 1 and Recess).

For over 60 years, Caritas Australia has stood alongside communities in Australia and around the world, working together to create lasting change. During this season of Lent, when we are called to be people of charity and compassion, may we walk with those featured in the stories of Caritas and the communities they represent throughout the world.

This is a whole-school event, and all staff will be involved by either accompanying students on the walk, supervising at a marshalling point, or undertaking additional duties –please ensure you read thoroughly to see where you have been placed.

Unlike previous years, the course will be around the College grounds, with an additional shorter internal track available for students who wish to run instead of walk. Please inform students they must sign up using the link on Simon Daily Message or the QR Codes currently displayed on our VIVI screens. Remind students that they will receive 1 house point for walking participation and 10 house points for running participation

Each House, in the spirit of compassion, is aiming to raise at least $3000 and in total to raise at least $12,000 for Project Compassion. Remind students that they may create their own fundraising team or simply donate to their house team.

Please inform students they can wear P.E uniform for the entire day.

FINISH ASSEMBLY POINT

HOUSE CARITASCHARITIES HOUSE COUNTRY

Caritas Jerusalem

Guided by our charism of Perseverance, we stand with Ahmad in Gaza. Through Caritas Australia’s support for Caritas Jerusalem, local staff continue providing essential humanitarian assistance, such as food, medical supplies and practical support, despite their own challenges. Their commitment is centred entirely on protecting human dignity and responding to urgent need. By supporting Project Compassion, we help Caritas continue this impartial, life-affirming work, ensuring that vulnerable families receive care, stability and hope during an incredibly difficult and complex time. Our perseverance strengthens theirs, walking in solidarity with all people seeking safety, healing and a future filled with possibility.

Caritas Tanzania

Inspired by our anchor symbol and Madeleine D’Houet’s brave spirit, we walk alongside Sisilia, a young girl in Tanzania whose daily struggle for water once held her back from learning. Thanks to Caritas Australia, her school now has safe drinking water, giving her more time to dream, study and pursue her goal of becoming a pilot. By supporting Project Compassion, we help Caritas deliver life-changing essentials like clean water to remote communities around the world. With every step, we anchor ourselves in hope and help lift others toward the future they deserve.

Caritas Fiji

Inspired by the openness and generosity symbolised by our dolphin, we walk with Manaini from rural Fiji, who has transformed life for her children through training provided by Caritas Australia’s partner, FRIEND. With new gardening and food-processing skills, improved nutrition and solar lighting for her village, her family now has safety, opportunity and hope. By supporting Project Compassion, we help Caritas create long-term, sustainable change for families building brighter futures. Our generosity lights the way - helping communities shine with dignity and opportunity

Caritas Bangladesh

Guided by our charism of Community, Turner House stands with Monoranjon, whose village in coastal Bangladesh faces constant flooding and uncertainty. Through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, he is learning climate-resilient farming techniques and building a more secure livelihood for his family. By walking in solidarity, we help Caritas empower entire communities to adapt, rebuild and thrive in the face of rising challenges. Together, we unlock hope and walk for a world where every community has the chance to flourish.
