Ride horse in street. Dia de la Luz.
Arroyo de la Luz
A tradition that has its origins in a legend originating from the Day of Light, which is celebrated every Easter Monday.
The races have their origin in competitions and challenges on the way back from the hermitage after the celebrations have ended. Over time they move to the "corredera" street as it is the entrance to the town and from the hermitage of San Sebastián to the Plaza Mayor it runs for about 800m in a slight descent.
The races start at 12 noon on every Easter Monday, while the public celebrates the Festival.
In each race the human tide opens to make way for the riders, then closes like a zipper.
The gallops are performed individually or in "colleras" (groups) of 2 or 3 riders, in many cases hugging.
