THE 8TH ANNUAL BULL SALE

MARCH 2, 2026 IN COURTLAND, KANSAS AT 1:00 PM

Welcome to the 8th Annual Hanel’s Black Simmentals Production Sale. Having sold bulls for 20 years through private treaty, we are excited to share the opportunity to buy into our Simmental program that we have been building over the past 25+ years.

Our cattle epitomize performance and have a proven history to produce a consistent calf crop year in and year out. We produce honest, hard-working cattle that are raised without any creep feed to show the true performance and function. Our cows spend most of the winter running out on stock fields right along with their calves and are raised as much like a commercial operation as we can and are asked to work for us.

This year there will be 122 Simmental, SimAngus, SimChar, Angus bulls and 24 open replacement heifers in the offering. Every animal selling in this offering will enhance your bottom line with increased performance and carcass traits. Field Cattle Company also has a tremendous set of power real world bulls and we are excited for them to sell with us.

This operation has the upmost respect for our cattle and our beef industry. When you lay eyes on our operation you will see that in seconds, and we expect that out of our genetics! With Mother Nature starting to spread some moisture across the United States and with the lower number of cattle the future seems extremely bright for the cattle industry. These bulls selling are exactly what

Hanel’s Black Simmentals is a generational seedstock firm with strong ties to multiple facets of the beef cattle industry. Professionally, Dr. Hanel is one of the very best large animal veterinarians in the business. The clinic’s customer base is extremely diverse, as he provides services to some of the elite seedstock firms in the nation, some of the largest commercial cow calf operators in the region, major cattle feeding entities, and some of the very best progressive auction markets in north central Kansas. To say that he is well connected is an understatement, as his industry information resources are significant and hold as much relevance as any network in the business.

Brock’s industry outreach is impressive, and his willingness to support those who support the HBS brand is genuine. He wants to feed the cattle sired by these bulls and the ones we have marketed before. Those who sign the front of a check on the first Monday of March are very aware of the return when they do business with the good doctor, and that’s what keeps them coming back. The words spoken from his mouth and the handshake after the agreement are as good as any ink on paper. Customer service is not just an act; it’s a passion, and every customer is taken care of with a compromise in their favor, not his.

The commitment to genetic improvement is real at Hanel Black Simmentals. Brock scours the country annually for the next source of genetics that meets his criteria. Already in 2026, the firm has made two serious herd sire acquisitions featuring genomically enhanced data and fresh genetics outside the pedigree lines of the existing cowherd in Courtland, Kansas. His concern for his customers’ success and profitability is the driving force, as he understands that your success is his success, and your business loyalty remains with the program that provides the genetic resources you need to continue advancing your herd’s genetic potential.

The industry’s demand for heavier cattle on the rail is legitimate, given the supply chain shortage. Hanel has always focused on breeding cattle that will meet industry mandates. As outlined, heavy cattle with product resulting from efficient, low-input gains are the optimal goal for any production model, and that model is constantly tweaked by Brock through improved management protocols and genetic acquisitions.

Cattlemen and women, if you have not shopped for your next herd sire(s) at Hanel’s Black Simmentals, we encourage you to do so on the first Monday of March 2026. If you are a repeat, loyal customer, you know what the cattle are capable of and where to be and when. The steak lunch is a staple and very well attended. Hospitality will be a close second to the meal, but your attention and interest in the offering will be program-changing if you have the opportunity to do business with the outstanding family. If you should need any additional information or assistance with selection and sight unseen purchasing, please feel free to reach out to any of the Innovation AgMarketing team for any and all needs.

Thank you for your interest and enjoy the cattle,

Graham Blagg Jered Shipman Tim Anderson
