2022 PRESIDENT’S WELCOME! Welcome to the 2022-2023 League Year! I am very excited to start year two of my term as president. Ending last year with the wonderful Centennial Celebration was a great way to put a lot of the difficulties of the past two years behind us. As we now look to the “new normal,” I have a couple goals for this year for the League. First and foremost, I hope to see more members at our inperson events. While hybrid options will still be available and we understand everyone has different comfort levels, the Board has been discussing the importance of coming together as a group for GMMs, community events, and social opportunities. Being together in-person allows discussion and connection in a way hybrid opportunities are not always able to. Second, I am looking to find ways for us all to remember why we joined the JLS and continue to stay as members. The difficulties of the past couple years cannot be overstated and I think many of us have forgotten how much

the League means to us and why. I joined the League to try to find a place where I belonged and my thoughts and ideas were valid. At the time I was at a job where, to put it in the language of the time, I felt like every time I tried to lean in, I was pushed back out. Becoming part of the Junior League allowed me to feel like my contributions mattered and were valued by others. I was able to move to different positions and got to know a lot of members. I stayed because going to meetings felt like hanging out with friends. These relationships took some time to grow, but I am glad I put in the work. Why did you join? Why do you keep coming back? How do you want to contribute to our continued success? I continue to be honored and humbled at being the League president. Working with all of you is a continual highlight. I cannot wait to see where the 2022-2023 League year takes us!
