A Note from the President...

This is one of my favorite times of the League year with the preparation and anticipation of Charity Ball. It’s always exciting when civic groups are involved in an event that will make a difference in so many lives within our community. We always appreciate the warm reception we receive from the civic groups in Hall County, and I hope that you will thank those groups who are represented by Belles this year. If you see a civic group that isn’t represented, please encourage them to be a part of Charity Ball next year. This is a great opportunity for the Belles to volunteer their time and support the agencies that we serve. During this time, they and their family will have a unique chance to meet new people and discover the needs of so many in our community. I want to thank each of our Belles, their families and their civic organization for their participation and continued commitment to change. This year’s Belle’s are: Elizabeth Collins representing Rotary, Alee Boychuck representing Elk’s Club, Stephanie Olson representing Civitans, Kaniesha Stovall representing Newtown Florist, Mary Kathryn Saliba representing Jaycees and Molly Glazer representing Evening Optimist.

As all of you know, this is our final fundraiser of the year. If it has been a few years since you have attended Charity Ball, please be sure to buy your ticket and enjoy a great event at the Chattahoochee Country Club on December 8. Lindsay Wells and Chastity Nix, co-chairs of Charity Ball this year, have been working hard preparing for this event along with their assistant chairs, Liza Chapman and Staci Vinton. Be sure to come and enjoy all of their hard work. I can’t wait to see you there!

Our membership meeting in December will feature Holiday music presented by sustainer, Michelle Alexander. She will help us get into the Holiday spirit! It’s also “Bring a Guest,” so if you know of someone that you would like to introduce to the Junior League, this is your chance to bring her to a meeting and give her an idea of our organization. We will be voting on Bylaw/Policy changes, those changes can be found on our website, and it’s also time for Nominating!

There is a lot going on, and through it all we continue to fulfill our mission. Promoting voluntarism, developing our potential, and improving the community through action and leadership of trained volunteers are carried out every day through one of our many active, provisional, or sustaining members. It is a special time of the year, and I always feel blessed and uplifted to be surrounded by such special women. I hope this is a Season filled with special blessings for each of you.

Attention all actives…If you are not on the Hospitality committee, that means that you are on the Charity Ball committee! This committee is divided into three sub-committees –Workshift, Sustainer Call and Decorations. If you have any questions about your Charity Ball committee assignment, please do not hesitate to call Chastity Nix at (770) 540-7516or Lindsay Wells at (770) 718-7900.

Workshift Committee

This committee will staff the Junior League office the week of the Ball to sell tickets, provide assistance to the photographer at the Ball, and serve as greeters for guests arriving at the Ball. You will receive a phone call or email to sign up for your shift.

Committee members will call Sustainers to encourage them to attend Charity Ball and let them know how they can purchase tickets. You will receive a phone call or email with your assigned list of Sustainers and their phone numbers. If you are NOTon this committee and have a medical condition that keeps you from serving on one of the other committees, please give us a call so that we can re-assign you. This is a great committee for someone late in pregnancy or with a newborn who could not otherwise fulfill their assignment.

Bylaws were presented for review at the November general membership meeting. The bylaw changes were made available in hard copy at the League office and have been posted to the member website.Final vote will be at the December general meeting, so be sure to attend because we need to have quorum for the final approval! Hi ladies. January is right around the corner. That means In-Home Meetings. Instead of meeting in a large group setting, we will divide into smaller groups. This is the perfect time to select the topic, time and location of your choice to attend. Please have first, second and third choices when you come to the December meeting at The History Center. They will fill up fast! It will be on a first come, first sign basis and many of the meetings can only accommodate a specific number. There will be a table with the sign-up sheets at the December meeting. Please get there early enough to select your meeting.
