A Note from the President...
Wow! It’s hard to believe that this League year has come to an end. I have truly enjoyed serving as President this year, and I appreciate all of the kind words and warm gestures that I have received. You have all been very welcoming to me during my time in League, and I thank you so much.
When I joined the League, I had no idea that all of the membership worked so hard or accomplished so much for our community. The League is made up of professionals, stay at home moms, teachers and even farmers! Our interests are varied, but our understanding of the need to help others is unwavering. I have found it quite amazing that we are able to bring together so many different backgrounds and give so much to our community. Did you have any idea, that through our service this year, we have provided over $178,000? Since 2003, through our volunteer hours and our fundraising abilities, we have made an economic impact for our community in excess of well over $1,000,000! And it has all been made possible, by our membership working together for a common purpose!
I will always be grateful to those who have served on the board of directors this year. While opinions may differ, we each serve with the best interests of the League at heart. It is through discussion and compromise that the best plans are developed. This has certainly been a board with varying opinions, who worked exceptionally well together, for a common purpose. As our next year unfolds, Christina will serve all of us with a confident attitude and sound leadership. She and the incoming board will continue the traditions of the past with an eye on our future. Next year, as we transition into a new project for a Women’s Center, many decisions will need to be made, but we are definitely in good hands!
I will always cherish my time of service to the League. It has indeed changed my perspective and given me a chance to enjoy the friendships of so many women I would never have met. I can never express to you my sincere appreciation of the trust you have shown me, and I look forward to continuing my life long commitment to the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County.
